Excellent video chocked full of great information. The camera positions were great for really seeing how you form the knots, make the fish mouth fittings and so much more. Keep the great bamboo content coming!

I have 4 different types of clumping bamboo growing in my yard but none of them have really thick canes. This video really makes me want to grow some large timber bamboo for projects. Last year I bought a bamboo splitter off of Amazon and made a bamboo wall trellis for my garden and I really enjoyed the whole process of cutting the bamboo, splitting it, and lashing it together.

I just saw a bamboo builder out of Thailand who prefers small canes that they bundle together to make columns. Says they’re stronger and more flexible. Maybe that what you could do?

@@HomesteadinHawaii Thanks! That is great info! I'll still try growing some larger bamboo too but it is good to know my small canes can be bundled together as well.

When you mentioned lashing materials you stated there are ropes that are more suited to the task. Could you share your recommendations, please?

@@HomesteadinHawaii Awesome! Enjoy your trip. I love Thailand too. I've been visiting several locations over the past few years looking for retirement destinations. @@AmblingAloof I'm curious where you're thinking is the best spot so far. I'm kind of doing the same. I like quiet mellow beach towns with surf, but that's kind of hard to find. I like Panama, maybe ecuador or chile, Lombok was cool, but I'm looking for a north county san diego, if such a thing exists elsewhere.

@@HomesteadinHawaii A similar system was used by mr chickadee, he posted a good how-to video on YT of the whole process- rock base, carving the timber out the japanese way so it sits on top of rock and then he used rebar and glue as extra attachment… very interesting
