I planted bamboo to feed my goats. I am in east Kentucky, I have not found a clumping variety that is recommended for my area. My biggest problem is keeping the goats out of the stand till it gets well established, they want it NOW. 😜

Friends neighbors planted running bamboo and it ran down the hill and invaded my friends land. Friend had the entire bamboo leveled with sharp machetes, arduous and timely. After that he mowed the sprouts and little by little fought it back.

Sounds like the experience most people have with bamboo. All they need to know is im whether it’s a running or clumping kind. Hopefully this video will help a few people to not make a big mistake

We had running bamboo that went into our neighbors yard and was coming up through the driveway .Not easy to get rid of. Finally did and got the clumping and they are very good

Sometimes people have to learn the hard way, I just wish instead of discounting bamboo completely they'd learn about clumping bamboo

Not getting notices from KZread? I think you have to hit the bell as well. If you're talking about my email newsletter, I only send it out once a month at the beginning of the month.

I have a 3500m2 lot in Bohol, Philippines. The perimeter is about 250 linear metres (300 yards or so). A fence or a wall would be too expensive, particularly as the lot is quite steeply sloping. I'm hoping that you might advise me of a species of bamboo that I can use as a hedge, maybe 3m (10 feet tall) that won't be invasive and won't look too scruffy after a few years.

The one i mentioned in the video, Bambusa multiplex could be a good candidate. It doesn’t get too tall, it’s a clumping bamboo so it won’t get out of control. You’ll just have to plant a few 8’ apart to get a good hedge

@@HomesteadinHawaii I'm glad you suggested that because it was one of a dew that I had picked out, and one that's pretty commonplace in the Philippines from what I have read. Thanks!
