For the benefit of a non-guitarist, can you explain in layman's terms what your right thumb is doing after 0:39?

Hey there. I'm using it as a thumb rest and as a handy way to mute the string. Also, it's more comfortable for me personally to reach the higher strings for these sections of the song. You don't really need to slide the thumb under the string (that's more of a habit of mine) it can just sit on top. Good luck.
