Sinusitis Surgery

Atlanta ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Specialist
Your paranasal sinuses are air-filled spaces in the bones around your nose. They are connected to the inside of your nose through small passageways. A thin layer of tissue, called nasal mucosa, lines the inside of your nose and your sinuses. This tissue makes a thick and slippery fluid, called mucus. Mucus keeps your nose from drying out, moistens the air you breath, and protects against germs, dust, and pollen. When your sinuses are healthy, mucus can drain freely out of your nose. Sometimes, your mucosa may become swollen and inflamed, causing your sinuses to be blocked. The blockage can trap mucus inside your sinuses. If this condition lasts more than three months, its called chronic sinusitis. If medication or other treatments arent helping, your healthcare provider may advise you to have surgery. Endoscopic sinus surgery is the most common procedure for chronic sinusitis. To start, the surgeon will insert a camera on the end of a thin tool, called an endoscope, into your nose. Images from the camera will be sent to a video screen so that your surgeon can see the inside of your nose. Then, your surgeon will look for and remove anything that blocks the opening to your sinuses. This will allow mucus to drain from your sinuses and improve airflow. After the procedure, you may have nasal bandages for a few days. Your healthcare provider will ask you to use a saline rinse to help you recover. Talk to your healthcare provider to find out more about endoscopic sinus surgery.

I had this done to my right sinus cavity. It was totally filled with nastiness. This was done in the late seventies. Back then there were no endoscopes. The doctor just jammed an iron tube up my nostril and the stuff started to ooze out. I must have been 9 or 10 years old and though it wasn’t painful I will never forget it. My mother fainted when she heard the crack of the tube going in my sinus. I was feeling better and my mother had a black eye. At family gatherings this still comes up. My poor mum se deserves better 😄

It also makes non-college educated advanced learning much easier - I can read scientific papers all day, but sometimes all I need is a 2-5 minute video from this channel for it all to click into place. Outside of the uterus and its related organs, i'm not great at internal anatomy. Stuff like this means I have a better understanding of myself and others, and can even explain what a surgery their dr recommends does. ...I don't show them the associated video, because it's usually Too Much. For reference, i'm getting a robot-assisted laproscopic radical hysterectomy in seven weeks, and i've watched six videos of various hystos being done and a dozen or so on the robotic part of it. And that's all irrelevant but. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I came up to check how sinusitis problem is treated for my 7 year old brother he is just just 6 year smaller than me and is suffering from this problem last few years I really want to help him but I can't because doctors say that we have to wait for more 5-6 years for this procedure and prescribed us to try out with homeopathy.....but it is proving hopeless we are just hoping for the best ,I feel really bad for him because he is troubling while sleeping which give him extreme headache, currently medication is not working for him we can just pray for him 😥
