Singxer SU-6 DDC review: digital to digital, what's the point of this sillines?

Ғылым және технология

Expensive, but highly recommended if you have system transparent enough.
Great synergy with my Gustard X26 Pro and Semibreve DACs.
If I didnt cover something important in the video feel free to ask me in the comments.

    Hello, I have the denafrips ddc iris with the denafrips terra mlck, connected to the ares II... Yes, a change of DAC wouldn't hurt. Everything connected to the rose rs250a and an emotiva erc-3 gen2.

    I missed out on the opportunity to purchase the Kitsune edition for less than $400. Since I already had Gustards U18, I wasn't sure if it would have been worth it.

    That was a good price. There are couple of threads about modding SU-6 over the web, sometime in the future I may do a couple of easy and recommended tweaks. These may not be "full Kitsune" level but may improve some aspects.

    It is, but the effects will be smaller. Also maybe that's something for nerds like me but this also enables you to connect two or more DACs at the same time and stream to all of them simultaneously. Good thing for comparing them when using integrated amp - just by switching inputs having all other parts of the system exactly the same.

    @@k4syx That makes sense. Still a good value, considering. Love my current Dac, but would love to get an r2r option down the line. Never though of using a ddc to easily switch between them 👍🏼

    Depends on your starting point, if your DAC is entry level, than go go better one, it will give you better sound for less money. However when you're approaching state of the art it's very hard to get better sound, and it costs more and more. In such situation you can use ddc to push your DAC to limits for "relatively" less money. All in all, everything depends on your wallet :)

    Hello again :-) Is this not a bid of an old fashioned tool? If you have a modern streamer having Usb and a modern DAC with Usb it all should be 100% right? Like my Chord Quetest and the newest Lumin streamer like the mini u2? Is it not so that now adays everything is more streamed together much better than a few years ago? Do you know this? Greetings again. 😊

    Hi again! These are two things here. The first one: ddc improves SQ for digital signal from USB input, regardless of the source. It's just about the way serial data sound stream is being sent over USB with no correction or retransmission whatsoever. So if your streamer is connected to your DAC via USB, then you will benefit from ddc. The other question for me is streaming. I'm getting all my music in "hard" copies via some FLAC/DSD shops. I have Spotify and Amazon streaming subscription, but I strongly believe in owning things that I pay for. What if S will go bankrupt? What if there will be some scandal and artists will flow away? What if we will have war and we won't have access to the web? Also, how fast can a hardware streamer get obsolete? Look at bd players and TVs: 3-4y old stuff already has problems with streaming formats because of lack of firmware updates. And without that streamer is just expensive, inflexible brick.... All in all, long story, maybe worth recording a few thoughts someday:)

    Quick question you ended up using the external clock on DDC?

  • @k4syx

    @k4syx

    9 күн бұрын

    Quick answer no, I'm using external clock on my DAC. The clock input on ddc is for word clock for syncing data transmitted in words between transmitter and receiver. You'd connect the same clock signal to both of them and use it for syncing data transfers. So, long story short, just a 10MHz ext clock for my Gustard X26PRO

    I have a lumin streamer. Would this DDC converter be compatible just by plug-in play, or does it need drivers installed first.

  • @k4syx

    @k4syx

    If you mean Lumin X1 than there is no way to use them both because as I can see Lumin has USB and network connection inputs, and the Gustard will not have network outputs. So no way to use them together IMHO.

    I have a Lumin U1 mini it has all the digital output to go to a dac, instead of going directly to a dac I wanted to go into the singxer first then out via coax or fiber into my dac. I'm not using a computer. My question is from what I read is that this DDC your reviewing says it needs drivers down loaded to a computer to work, I'm not using a computer, will this DDC work without installing drivers or is this unit only computer compatible?

    @@shannonwilliams6623 The only input on this device is USB. This needs drivers to work in windows ASIO mode, but works without them as standard USB class 2 audio device. So if Lumin is based on some Unix/Linux core and can output to USB you should be fine with no drivers needed.

    Alvin Chee from Denafrips said that when using a LUMNI U2 Mini he found no difference when interposing a DDC before the DAC, because the LUMIN's clocks were very good (it has 2 clocks per channel). I also have a LUMIN U1 mini, so I would like to know if anyone has experienced the opposite.
