Is It Stupid To Fix Up A 300,000 Mile Vehicle? Let Settle This!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Most people get rid of vehicles well before 300,000 miles, often times due to concerns about reliability. So, let's go through a vehicle that has over 300,000 miles on it from top to bottom and front to back to prepare this vehicle for another 100,000 reliable miles! Includes rust repair, front end rebuild, complete tune up, axle hub bearing replacement, fluid changes, new brakes and rotors, front end alignment, headlight bulb replacement, MAF sensor cleaning, tensioner pulley bearing replacement, fan clutch replacement, axle seal replacement, and A/C freon level check.
I purchased all of the parts and supplies used for this vehicle. So, thank you for supporting the channel!

stop spreading misinformation, newer cars are built way fucking better then older vehicles were, especially compared to some piece of shit GM product, the real issue is that everyone on the road today is a fucking idiot who refuses to do proper maintenance, i see way too many people who refuse to use synthetic oil because "HUR DE DUR, MY DADS DADS GRANDPAS DAD SAID SYNTHETIC OIL BAD, SO I ONLY USE DINOSAUR OIL." then proceed to go way too long between oil changes (you can do 5000 miles on synthetic, NOT conventional, conventional oil is 3000 miles MAX, no matter how you drive, syn oil can do 10,000 if the vehicle is designed for that, AND you drive all highway miles, if you do any city driving at all, you do not quality for regular maintenance schedule, and MUST follow the severe service schedule, which is 5000 miles between service) and then their motor has some major issue, and then that same fucking idiot is all like "FUCKING *BRANDNAMEHERE*" MAINTAIN YOUR CAR CORRECTLY, AND IT WILL LAST LONGER THEN ANY OF THOSE OLD PILES OF JUNK, GUARANFUCKINGTEED (except chrysler and all their sub brands, but they've always been unreliable pieces of trash, so that hasn't actually changed either)

That repair job on the quarter panel came out great; you just dived right in and came out successful! Wow! Others probably would have mentioned the knock down steps afterwards with buffers to remove the orange peel. Also some paints have metallic finish instead of solid colors but I’m amazed how well that rattle can did. Masking off the area to include windows helps to keep over spray down. Lastly the clear on vehicles is special unlike manufactured clear coats, they make a 2k clear coat in a rattle can with a hardener in the bottom. It’s pricey and time limited but closer to the durability of automotive clear coats. Slooper, that's awesome. Quick story..I bought a brand new Lexus LS 400 the year they came out. I loved it. I brought it to the dealer for routine service and asked the service manager how long it would last if I kept up on the routine stuff. He brought me deep into their shop and showed me my exact car purchased a month earlier than mine with 301,000 miles on it. It belonged to a traveling salesman who didn't fly. He said the car drives like new. I told him that sounded far fetched. He pulled it out and told me to take it out for 15 minutes. (with the owner's permission) I'll be danged if it wasn't just as tight feeling and quiet as mine that had less than 50K on it. Toyota makes amazing stuff. Your story reminded me of that so I figured I'd share. I sold mine at 75K and did okay. It held a lot of value back then. Cheers and here's to 500K.

I have a 1992 Toyota 4x4 with 130,000 and it makes me sad that the frame has rotted out because it would have gone the 300K !
There's two kinds of people out there. The first says I'm never going to do this job again so I don't want to have to buy the tools. The second says I better buy these tools in case I ever have to do this job again.
Keep doing it like you have been. Your videos have a LOT of information packed into them.

That was amazing! As a technician I get very excited seeing all this preventative maintenance done. You take care of that vehicle better than most and it shows. Keep up the good work!

never chance THIS is the most clear, instructive and fair videos i love that you never take free product !
Bro, as a master tech with 20 years of experience, you did EVERYTHING exactly how I would (minus the paint on the knuckle and the body work). This is fantastic information for beginners and those that want to maintain a high millage vehicle. My F-150 (08 Lariat crew cab w/ heavy duty tow package) is at 580,000 miles because I maintain it as well as you have on your burban. Keep up the good work my man.
No sponsors is why this channel is epic. It’s all from this man and his team.
What I love watching you repair anything: you don't make it look easy, but doable. Like maybe even some of us could attempt it too and be successful...! Your hand holding narration, clear procedures and excellent camera work are light years better than just reading a repair manual.....TYSM!!

doing this for living so here are some quick tips 1. block sand putty with coarse grit 2. fine sand with orbial sander finer grit 3. prime using high build 2k primer 4.block primer 5. scuff(remove the shine of the clearcoat) the whole panel or part of it (if there are body lines and you want to polish the blend later on) 6. degreese 7. paint and clear 2 coats should be sufficient 8.,enjoy ur work
I gotta say this is the shortest video for all the work that was done but no steps missed is really impressive 👌
The pace is IMPRESSIVE! Also, it is very much appreciated, I couldn't get bored watching your content at any speed but it really helps to get through really dense things like this quickly, and very easy to go back a few seconds on a couple things if someone wants or needs more time to digest what's going on.

You’re amazing you did $10 k worth the repairs on your suburban in 27 min. At regular shop rates most people would have scraped it. Love your videos don’t change a single thing. Canadian fan

Probably more than 10k, suspension parts, shops are unwilling to press out the rubber bits, so they force you all new parts. I gave up that same model Suburban 14 yrs ago the maintenance just wasn't worth it
Awesome vid, i did this to 300,000km vw golf. It was great as i wanted to get familiar with mechanics and mechanical engineering for a job. My field is in electrical engineering. Doing this work with my dad was a gold mine in knowledge. The car ran factory new. The transformation of the car was an incredible reward and since i did the work my self I knew exactly what the car was capable of.
This is the perfect pace, please don’t change it. I wish I knew how to do all the stuff you just did. Slowly but surely.

I’m glad I have my dad in my life and he taught me all these things. But I’m just as grateful for you because people who didn’t have fathers or good fathers can watch you and learn everything. I love watching your videos, even stuff like this that’s simple to me, to see how well you do teaching today’s youth. You sir are a scientist, technician, and a professor.

Thanks! Please DO NOT slow down. The information density is the most precious thing in the Internet nowadays.
Keep the pace. I love that you pack so much into the video. This reminds me of "maintenance week" with my step dad at the end of every school year. We used to do all the cars and equipment (lawn tractor, well pumps, camp cart, etc) and he'd talk to me the whole time about what we were doing but he'd intersperse family stuff while we were turning wrenches or waiting for paint to dry.
