Singularity Computers Water-cooling Guide: Part 2

Ғылым және технология

This video completes the Singularity Computers Water-cooling Guide. In this video I fill the loop and talk about the precautions that need to be taken against leaks. I also cover temperature, noise output and performance results to compare water-cooling to air cooling. Finally I take a good look at the completed build.

I love your builds from this to your latest. You have inspired me to follow my dreams to build custom water cooled pc's and I have already started. Again thank you very much for the great inspiration and instructional videos they have all helped me greatly keep up the incredible work I don't think anyone out there not even digitalstorm can achieve take care Eddie

Great video, I can attest to being one of those you referenced as having a more difficult time choosing what components to choose rather than executing the build itself. I just subscribed to your channel and still have to look through but most definitely would appreciate a video on watercooling components and choosing them, please cover fittings and drainage techniques. Thanks again!

Another point for checking for leaks is when the system is a max heat. Fittings expand, then contract when cooling. Obviously you check for this with your validation process. Good vid/info.

For the power supply, find an AT power supply, whether used or new, then you won't have to worry about shorting pins or anything like that because they have a dedicated power button. Athena Power actually still puts out new units, currently about $20 on NewEgg for a 300W unit, which will be more than enough for testing fans, lighting, and powering pumps.

Hey. Quick question that always gets me wondering with watercooling builds. How did you get the res/pump to fit perfectly. The pump sits exactly on the HDD cage as well as the reservoir being clamped to the bays. Do you use a specific length fitting in between them? It baffles me how things come together like that so well.. Is it just coincidence? lol.

I'd get rid of that rez / pump combo, mine stopped working out of no where a few days ago, didn't even notice for a few hours as there were no signs of failure. Thats the last time I get a bay pump lol. I'd only had it about 6 months.

Is it possible to increase the performance of the pump, e.g. run at lower voltage while maintaining flow rate, by using a taller reservoir? I'm picturing water towers in municipal water distribution. Adding height to the res. would decrease the amount of work that the pump needs to do to keep the coolant flowing, but would 150-200mm of additional pressure at the pump inlet make a significant difference? Have you ever tested this?

Staining the blocks doesn't seem like a bad issue to me because with my next build i have planned i was wanting to use red coolant ( Mayhems ) with my rig since it is red/black themed. If i do this i was just going to keep it red so it shouldn't be an issue i think.

If you use dyed coolants correctly, then the most you have to worry about is staining your blocks. This is unavoidable. Other than that, the whole dye became a precipitant or broke up in the loop argument is usually algae growth that got stained the color of the dye.
