I just gave up on progressive lenses. Couldn't do it. Was constantly sick. I could never get a good focal point in the distance. Even mid distance sucked. Close vision was good tho. Just ordered some bifocals so wish me luck.

no update using the bifocals glasses? I have tried the progressive and single reader glasses. I love the reader glasses but need to take it off if I want to see distant/ far... I can't get comfortable with the progressive because I need larger wider for the reader part. the mid part is confusing me... so I can't do/ use the progressive... I'm thinking trying the bifocals but I need to see/ read other people reviews about bifocals glasses... anyone?

@@neilcarter77 me too... please let me/ us know when you try the bifocals glasses.. I love my single reader but I need the bifocals for my sunglasses, for far sight and reader too when I"m outside...

The video feels incomplete because you didn’t mention any disadvantages from using progressive lens, and the alternative of using two separate pairs of lenses, each for different use cases.

Question I have is I’m 53 and have my first bifocal prescription. +0.75 for left eye and +1.25 for right eye and both reading lenses are +1.75. But my reading only prescription is +2.50 for left eye and +3.00 for right eye. Why are the reading lenses for bifocals a weaker strength than what I normally use? I only use the bifocals when I’m at home watching TV or shopping.

Hey, so it’s because the add is the standard prescription so your left eye for example (+0.75) add the +1.75 add on. That gives you your +2.50. So technically it is the same prescription. You just add the add onto the standard prescription. I hope that makes sense 🙂

@@matt.noble05 it does and it doesn’t. I need +2.50 for reading and +1.75 is a little weak. But the +1.75 in my bifocals works better with than over the counter +1.75. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This video didn't tell me anything I didn't know. I tried progressive about 10 years ago. HATED them. Happy with my bifocals, but it's nearly impossible to deal with viewing my computer screen. I'm due for new glasses, and not sure what to try.

Talk to your Doctor about Trifocals. Also, progressive lenses have advanced in the last 10 yrs or so, you may want to give them another go!
