I'm surprised you did not mention ghost lights. My first glasses did not have an AR coating, and at night, bright lights would be reflected back into my eyes from various angles so that I would see many more lights than there actually were. This made night driving very difficult and confusing-especially in unfamiliar areas. AR coated glasses eliminated this completely. For me, this was a safety issue. Cheers, Russ

Another really important advantage of an anti-reflective coating is if you have a high prescription. It eliminates the 'coke bottle' effect (where there appears to be concentric rings in the lenses).

Loved the video…I feel we’re taken advantage of a lot when buying lenses and especially lens coating “options” when buying glasses from your typical Omnivision etc. businesses. Man they hit me with over 300.00 purely for lens “options” and I’m really relying on your videos to get to the bottom of this….my prescription is very slight and it’s time we educate ourselves on eye lens function, features, prices, and brands also the difference between necessity and pushy sales tactics..we need to know especially because your vision is not only the most important of your 5 senses but the windows to the soul.

Great information! I'm a professional driver and can't see at night...I thought it was my eyes, now I think it's my glasses! Unfortunately my insurance only covers the absolute very bare minimum. I think this is causing my eyesight to be worse! I have to tilt my head up to see while driving at night and everything is still super blurry, etc. Can't read signs, can't read addresses... but fine during the day. Also I'm constantly taking my glasses off to read anything or look at things close up, or else it's super blurry. I can't see anything at all driving without them though, so it's required. Also I clean them, blink, and they're all smudged again.

Anti-reflective seems like the one thing I really want from glasses besides the correction. I hate shopping and fashion and glasses don't offer the options I want to see. I don't want a Nike swhoosh or a DG on my glasses but why not a range finder, motion tracker and/or some sort of augmented information system over the non-dominant eye? These are the upgrades we were promised in the 1980's lol. I recently learned that all my transition lens glasses are a pain if you are training to be a drone pilot. The sun and the glare from the snow turns my glasses into sunglasses and I always loved it. I honestly rarely noticed when they darkened unless I took my glasses off. Now I find myself trying to read a LCD, maintain a Visual Line of Sight with an aircraft and anything I need to see in-between. I am near-sighted so I have managed by bringing my glasses to the end of my nose and looking over them when I need to. I had my eyes checked today and was quickly overwhelmed with the wall of frames and no real help. I left with nothing but the exam and came home to research. I don't think Blue Light will help with how I use a computer screen outside, transitions is out, so I think just the non reflective, the anti-UV coating on both sides is about for usefulness for me. Will the more expensive lens improve clarity/sharpness more than the C-95 (number might be off, srry) or is it more about durability? Anti-Reflective is the only other improvement I can think of, to help with being outdoor in lots of sunshine and using LCD displays unless you have any other suggestions? Strange question for a very niche market.

Thank you for sharing your expertise. If long-distance glasses (intended for driving) with anti-glare protection do not visibly reduce any glare, does it help to have the lenses additionally tinted (50%) or what is the best solution? Is it better to opt for adaptive lenses? My main problem is being blinded by modern LED lights from on coming traffic at night. I must be particularly light sensitive. My prescription is +1.50 and I do not wear glasses permanently. For reading, my prescription is add +2.25 for both eye. Thank you

Thank you for this video Doctor. I really like my progressive transition glasses. Due to an idiopathic double vision the lens are also prisms I also have a dry eye problem. When I am inside my car the transitions don’t work at all and the sun glare really bothers me. I wanted to add anti glare to my glasses but I was told that it wasn’t good for my type of lens. Any other recommendations you could suggest that would be helpful. Thank you!

As far as the blue light coating. I had a pair of high end glasses ordered and the coating actually made the reflection so bad front and back I couldn’t use them. Had to send them back. Don’t know why it was so bad but I’m finding a lot of online shops are actually cheaper with blue light blocking than without now.

@@DoctorEyeHealth No. I'm going on the 30th because they require full payment. When I joined the military the optometrist in Fort Riley prescribed it because my left eye at times would unfocus (turn in then out). I had my eye numbed and moved manually to see if there was a problem with the muscle. I can give you many suggestions for future videos. Here's one. I read better without my glasses than with the progressives which I have to look down to read. Another topic high definition lenses. I would appreciate your advise especially since the glasses is costing me $820 BOGO.
