• Daily singing exercise...
Your voice is a muscle and if you're serious about wanting to learn to sing well then you need to strengthen that muscle. I can speak from experience, as someone who couldn't belt, twang, sing more than an octave and a bit and had massive pitching issues to someone who has been singing professionally for the last 10 years. I did at least 15 minutes exercising a day as well as singing through lots of material and within six months my voice made an incredible change. You can too.

Hi Lady Sasha, thank you for your message. Unfortunately, what your describing is a technique that involves constriction. This is not something I feel comfortable teaching as if it is done incorrectly it can lead to vocal damage. The best thing for you to do is speak to a local singing teacher and have some tuition face to face.

hi Anna, I'm a big fan of your 7 day singing program (I've only been practicing the exercises on the vids for a week now but I've seen improvement in my singing) and I wanted to ask you something. I'm a soprano and I can hit up to high E (high F on a good day), but I can't seem to achieve a full sound whenever I try to belt without straining. Is this because my voice is too light for belting? Will doing the exercises in this video help?

+CuteStardoll Doll In voice terms there's quite a big gap between B and D, so it's not so surprising. Keep working on your belt a little at a time, don't try to go too high too soon. In time you'll find your range increasing. Remember with belt to keep your throat open (retracted), the muscles of the neck engaged (anchoring) but not too tense, and try hitting the notes on a "Yay" sound. See if it helps!

Should you be releasing the air in your tummy slowly as you belt? I need to practise this so much! Don't know how to use the diaphragm at all. :(

For belting we take high breaths (expanding the chest), but yes when singing you should be releasing the air and if you have expanded the tummy then release that.
