Both PTX and Dolly won in the performance category of country group/duo at the Grammys last year for "Jolene." Great reaction.

Dolly Parton wrote ‘Jolene’ in 1974. This was the first Grammy she got for it! And by the way, Dolly Parton is 71.

I agree, Pentatonix has equal parts singing talent and taste, humility, arranging ability, individual star power and sheer decency. It makes for a heady mix for us fans.

This song won PTX their third Grammy. This got Dolly the 4th in 4 decades (1 Grammy each of the last four). The original arrangement didn't have a PTX lead, but Dolly insisted they take a verse. Great reaction as always.

Avi KILLED it in this one... Awesome reaction. They know how to arrange music very well, and they seem to instinctively know who suits a specific part. Musical geniuses is what I say!

Great reaction, as usual! Yes, they won a grammy for this, with Dolly. I don't know how they combined old school country with a modern feel, but they did. And Avi's bass line - wow!

Generosity on both sides. PTX respected their guest soloist and weren't pushy; they kept their background vocals impeccable but not showy. And Dolly insisted that they sing a verse, and was content to move to the background herself. And they collaborated to create the best "Jolene" ever.

OK...I gave in and listened to Pentatonix, just because of you two. :-) I don't mean I don't like them. I do. I just don't have TIME to listen to them very often. You have now probably started a temporary landslide, which will mean than I'm up even later than usual every night (I mean early morning)...sigh. Thanks, guys! LOL

They did win their 3rd Grammy for this. And every collaboration they've done, they arrange it in such a way which allows the guest to shine. This is my fav collab they've done. And I agree with what you said about their priorities when arranging a track. That makes it clear why their arrangements are some of the best, often sounding better than the original when they arrange covers. They pick their parts so articulately. And Avi in this 😫😍 Loved the reaction. I really want you guys to check out Superfruit's Empire Medley and Scott's cover of Creep with Caitlyn Notey.

the thing I like about you guys is that you get Pentatonix. You mentioned Kirstie. To me she has the purest singing voice of all of them. But sometimes it is lost because she is doing the harmonies. And you are right about the arrangements. Sometimes they are just simple arrangements, but always with an added little twist. Great reactions guys

I'm glad they mention Kirstin, too. I've always thought of her as the anchor of the group. The bass can switch between vocalizing and singing, Scott can do his riffs and Mitch soar because Kirstin holds it all together and reinforces whatever is going on.

Would love to see you react to PTX "Radioactive," "Problem," "Save the World/Don't Worry Child," "New Years Day," "Light in the Hallway (live)," "Water (live)," and "Nature Boy/Baddest Girl (live)" as well as Kevin Olusola"Renegade," "Stay With Me" and "Sign of the Times" AND Kirstin "Bad Weather." I know that is a long list but You are my favorite Pentatonix reactors! Someday hopefully you will get to hear all of their music.

Yep, PTX focuses so much on the song instead of the personal ego. And knowing how much talent all 5 (6) have, it would be so typical for someone to ruin it. But not in this case. They all nail every part. Every. Time.

They sang it on The Voice with dolly and Miley Cyrus. I guess Dolly Parton is Miley's godmother? I never knew that. But Scott got more of a solo in that performance and Miley sang and of course dolly. It was really cool seeing Scott on National stage singing about not taking his man! I think it's first time Scott saying about a man as a love interest. It was really cool. I remember thinking he went there yeah! Good for you Scotty! I thought it was really cool that he had an icon like Dolly Parton singing beside him when he performed it as written. Didn't change "my man" to "my girl" or "him" to "her" etc. Dolly was a guest star on their first Christmas Special on NBC in late 2016! I love her too!

Since you said what you did about Kirstin being in the background I have been really paying attention. What I have seen is that in almost every video there is a moment where Kirstin is doing a solo part somewhere in the video. She may not be THE lead singer, that is mostly Scott's role but she always gets her part. And I am sure that they all aware that Pentatonix is a team of equal importance. There are no "Divas". I would be very surprised if she ever thought she was being slighted.

Her looks, smile, humble attitude & mannerism, etc, is a bit like MORISSETTE and has a rich voice (no high octave though) but she's only 16. Others, have commented the same as well & are slowly reacting to this so I suggest you do so.
