A little bit of Home Free history; Chris Rupp, and his brother Adam, formed Home Free in the early 2000's together with 3 other guys. They were sponsored by one of the guys', Matt Atwood, grandfather and as a thank you they named the group after his boat, Home Free. Over the years two of the original members left as others came and went. Around 8 years ago they took Tim Foust in, through networking, as a temporary bass. 7 years ago they picked up Rob Lundquist when his former band split up. 5 years ago they Austin when they were guest performers on a cruise ship where he was part of the entertainment. Austin heard them, loved them, made sure he met, loved them and told them that if ever they needed a high tenor he's their man. A few months later Matt decided to leave and they called Austin who joined the group early 2013. Just before Christmas that same year they won the 4th season of the acapella reality show The Sing-Off, Pentatonix won season 3 of that show. They released the album Crazy Life early 2014 under Columbia records. The Christmas album Full of Cheer was released for Christmas that year. Country Evolution was released fall of 2015. And in early 2016 Chris decided to leave the group for other projects and they brought in Adam Chance who was the bass singer in another acapella group, Street Corner Symphony who came in second in the 2nd season of the Sing-Off, from June 2016. Adam Rupp is only original member of Home Free, he started as a singer in the group but when they wanted a beatboxer he draw the short stick. They released as updated version of their Christmas album with some added Chance, called Full of Even More Cheer last Christmas. Back in September they released Timeless. All albums debuted on top 5 on the Billboard Country charts. Before the Sing-Off they toured all over the US doing fairs, schools and cruises as a full-time job and they did all kinds of music. But they noticed the audience loved country songs especially so when they auditioned for the Sing-Off, this was the third try, they were encouraged to do country and so they became a The world's first country acapella group, as far as we know. 😊

Austin is the high tenor. Austin, Austin, Austin! lol! I love watching you guys, watching Home Free videos. This one had such a powerful message. And Adam the beatboxer does such a simple thing as taking a fist and rapping on his chest and thigh, simulating the beat of a heart. He was singing in this one, too. Did you notice? His voice lands somewhere right between Austin and Rob's, making this song a true 5 part harmony. The rest was just perfect harmonization, which they have down pat. Austin always takes on the high tenor part, Rob does a litttle lower tenor registar. Then you have Chance doing the baritone, and Tim at bass. And of course Adam Rupp is a freak of nature when it comes to lying down the beat of any song. They all do their part, and then it's all handed down to Adam to lay the track on each song. He's always been so brilliant at it, too. There was a lot of trial and error through the years to getting the group where they are today. IMO- they have the absolute perfect combination now. Thanks Guys. BTW- they just released 'Silent Night' this morning. Oh...and do yourselves a favor and check out their 'Do You Hear What I Hear?'. You think they were amazing on the other songs, but this one is guaranteed to to knock your socks off! kzread.info/dash/bejne/qX2Fs6aSkdK9oMY.html

I love watching your faces when they start singing. Great reaction. Adam Rupp and his brother Chris started this whole group a person at a time. Rob was the first one they added, then they found Tim with a group of his own and ask him to join, and Austin, high tenor, was doing a gig with a group on a cruise ship with a group, doing musical theater, and Austin heard HF and had to join them, the rest is history. Home Free was complete. They just put out 2 new Christmas songs; Silent Night and White Christmas. You guys are the best. Keep em coming. Thanks for posting this. Bye!!

Love your reaction. Beatboxer Adam and his brother Chris started the group 17 years ago. They gained and lost members through the years. Rob was added about 9yrs ago and then Tim a few years later. They were singing as guest entertainers on a cruise ship when they met Austin. He said he was interested if they were ever looking. When their tenor left they added Austin. Chance just joined in 2016 when Chris decided to work on his solo albums. That's a brief history. Would love to see you react to some of their Christmas stuff. They just released Silent Night today.

yes! thank you so much for reaction to In The Blood. I love your reaction. You hit one of the main reasons I love Home Free the fact that they do have the ability to overlap ranges vocally gives them versatility & their sound a fullness I don't hear in other aca groups.

to answer your question: The group was formed in 2000 by brothers Chris (cowboy hat-baritone that you will see in their videos prior to 2016) & Adam Rupp(beatboxer) in Mankato, Minnesota when they were young. By 2007 they had enough of a following to pursue music full-time. During this period, Chris (baritone) & Adam (beatboxer) and Matt Atwood (lead tenor) formed the core of the group. Rob Lundquist(tenor), also from Minnesota, joined in 2008. Texan Tim Foust starting guest subbing with them 2010. Other notable bass' that were part of Home Free Elliott Robinson 2008, Troy Horne 2009 and Matthew Tuey 2011. Tim Foust joined them full-time in January 2012. Later that same year they met Georgia native Austin Brown(high Tenor) on a cruise ship where they were all working. Austin a self-described aca geek told them if they ever needed him just call. As it happened Matt was married and his wife was expecting their first child so he decided to retire from Home Free. They called Austin & he joined them full time in January of 2013. One of the founder's Chris Rupp left the group to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Alabama native Adam Chance (baritone/bass- 4 octave range) formerly of Street Corner Symphony.

AUSTIN! High tenor is Austin. Loved this reaction. Thank you so much. Adam and Chris (cowboy hat guy in earlier videos)Rupp started the group in college. Added Rob first, then Tim was added as a temporary stand- in through networking He was doing his solo career,(has a solo CD) but loved doing acapella so much he stayed with them. They were guest entertainers on a cruise ship and they watched the in house talent, which included Austin, and he blew them away, so after their tenor left, They grabbed Austin. Then they won season 4 of the sing-off. Chris Rupp left to do his solo career and Adam Chance stepped in as baritone, he was from another sing off group called Street Corner Symphony (season 2 sing-off) where he was the bass. Tim was already good friends w/ Chance before he joined the group. He fit right in.

Awesome reaction! It's so beautiful & haunting & rich! They just released new *Silent Night* , it's beautiful!..GOTTA REACT to that & awesome *9 To 5 -Beatboxing Breakdown* -(big surprise!!!) & *Adam Rupp-Fargo-2016* -he bboxes a full concert, incl. an INSANE 10 min. 'drum' & special effects solo!.. Chris & Adam Rupp started a cappella grp from their college dorm rooms w/best friend Matt, diff. members came & went, then added Rob (whose grp "FourShadow" split up), then Tim (doing a radio tour for his solo all originals country album) finally joined them permanently), then met Austin on a working cruise ship & Matt wanted to stop traveling, so Austin was in', then Chrs wanted to go solo (w/their blessings, very talented/driven, see his UTube chl) & he/they asked friend Chance (of Street Corner Symphony -Seas. 3- Sing Off) to join them... You're right, there are no weak links! They're also master arrangers, songwriters (espec. TIim w/sweet sarcasm) & multi-instrumentalists (espec. Adam/bboxer)!!.. A few amazing Tim Originals: hilarious *Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget* (wife spends all his money) & un-intentional sequel *Full Of Cheer* (wife left him..........Full Of Cheer..lol!) & awesome *Everything Will Be Okay* !! *U WILL LOVE ALL THESE!!!* .Thx! 😍

Rewatching all Home Free videos/clips you've reacted to. That makes it feel good times two. I know you have a lot of irons in the fire so I won't make a recommendation right now. But if I were going to, I'd say .... Die a Happy Man. Also, I Can't Outrun You, Full of Cheer (older original and funny), Good Ol' Country Harmony (original), Can't Stop The Feeling, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste (On a Beer Budget) (also original). Avi Kaplan has a walk by when they're in the bar and at the end(ish) he's sitting on a mechanical bull in the background holding a glass of champagne, Do You Hear What I Hear. Whoopsie Daisies, I said I wouldn't recommend anything. But I fore-hear an 'oh my goodness. Ali and Marco you make me smile with your reacting. Keep it coming. Please.

It’s just as perfect live! It awesome they have a red light on them, it’s just as perfect. ❤️ Chris Rupp with his brother Adam Rupp started group 17 years ago( Adam has only been beatboxing that long). They went through several changes. Then Rob joined, they picked up Tim. They were working a cruise ship singing and met Austin and grabbed him. 2 years ago Chris left to do his own thing and Chance ( who was doing bass for Street Corner Symphony) joined to take over baritone and back up bass which then freed Tim to show off his 5 octave range. That is cliff notes version.

If you're interested, here is a video of Home Free's Party they held for their Patreons when they reached their goals. Sending you the link as in this, Tim and Austin talk about how Austin joined the group. It's a funny story, as they describe it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aq2TwbyAopO9fso.htmlm50s The clip should be set to start where they are telling it. If not, fast forward to 29 minutes and 50 seconds. (This was before Chris left and Chance joined.) The whole show is fun to watch if you want to watch, as it is kind of a retrospective showcasing some of the stuff they did early on and they do talk about the evolution of the group throughout. It even has one of the original group members join them on stage for a song or two. I have seen this one before, but I must have needed to hear it again. Almost in tears. Thank you, again. I heard you sing a bit, Marco, in a different type of video. My point, Home Free challenges us to dust off our singing voices and go. My singing voice has been hiding behind bronchitis for several years, and I am singing again as a result of watching them sing. (I'm good. Not fabulous, but very good. I missed singing. I never realized how much of ME was identified as a singer. (?) Marco, sing for us. Do what Peter Hollens does, and record yourself singing more than your traditional part. You know, bass, baritone harmony, and even tenor tracks. Squish them all together, and you've got something unique. (I would listen to whatever you recorded, though.) Thanx, Mindy

This song always makes me cry. It does, because I literally am living it. My father was diagnosed a soziopath and has done some pretty bad things with my mom, my brother and me... and now just a few weeks ago i got diagnosed as soziopath aswell... well i had a first diagnosis for 2 years or so already but i decided to get a second oppinion and they literally told me the same... I just don't want to hurt others how my father hurt my mon, brother and me... and most possibly alot of other people... but sometimes i find myselve being a massive asshole to my husband for no reason and i always could kick my own ass for it.

How does no one pick up on the fact that for half the song Adam is beatboxing, for the other half he is joining in on harmonies and chords. He was allowed to do this because they kept to this straight heartbeat tempo that Adam kept by beating on his thigh and chest. He really only needed to beatbox for the transitions.

I know it’s “what he does,” but props to Adam for keeping the beat steady throughout. It would be easy enough to lose rhythm, I would think!

Hey I love your reactions.I Subscribed. They uploaded a New video "silent night" they did this song for the second time. In the first one they had a violinist in the background. This time it's only their voices. And in the older Version Chris Rupp was still a part of the group. I would love to see you reacting to both of them. Greetings from Germany

Derik Knutson yeah, I feel like this is a whole new channel. I'm still hopeful so I'm not yet unsubscribing, but it won't take much longer. I'm sad, but I have a feeling that Lost is too crazy for Marco's taste..

So, if we had to make our own acapella group, what would we do? Tim for the bass, definitely. Mitch for his high-ass vocals. Kevin/Adam I think could be swapped easily, since they both could swapsinging/beatboxing. And...?

A good way to know the history of Home Free is to watch the videos of the show "The Sing Off" season four. Mrduckbear has the best videos. And if you want to hear an old commercial jingle they sang before Tim, Austin, and Chance joined listen to this Splash jingle that Adam's brother wrote. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2WdtJailsXRn6w.html

Just pulled this old one up. Man I sure do miss watching your reactions. Not seeing you do Home Free anymore and they are the only ones I follow. The last one was only pieces of their son too, so that was disappointing, with whatever changes had been made. But just saying that you are still the best reactors for sure. You truly love and know music. So I do appreciate your reactions. Just not seeing you do Home Free anymore. Take care.

Home free has an amazing assortment of voices. Tim Faust "Bass' Can sing low bass to a mid tenor. Adam Chance "Baritone." Can comfortably cover the Bass when Tim sings a lead, and still covers well into tenor ranges. Rob Lundquist "Tenor" is a true tenor with some of the cleanest notes being sung by a Tenor today. Austin Brown "High Tenor" Can cover through the tenor ranges up to and including Contralto. And Adam Rupp ; Beatbox is the closest thing to a drum kit that is not tattooed Lundquist

If you want to see how far they’ve come check out some of their songs from their Kickin’ It Old School album. This is from 2009, before Tim, Austin and now Chance joined the group. I recommend King of the Road to see how good their old Bass was (Elliot Robinson). Also Under the Boardwalk is great, it was led by Matt Atwood, one of the founders with Chris and Adam Rupp. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4qopa-wZr2ooJc.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2iq0tmclqmWhLQ.html

Something you may not know is that Home Free tried out for the Sing Off 3 times and didn't make the cut twice. They found Austin Brown and as you know the rest is history. I don't know about all the other Home Fries out there but I miss Chris I mean he started the group with his brother Adam and has a beautiful voice. Don't get me wrong Chance is great but I still miss Chris.

Angel Bennett If you need a chris fix go look at his channel (chris rupp) where he has music in a wide variety of styles - my favourite is called shine. Also try 7thAveband where you will not only find Chris but his sister too (she too is very talented).

If you want to hear a bass that can make Tim Foust sound like a soprano look up Tim Storms. He holds the record for lowest vocal not by a male, G-7. On KZread you can hear him hit a B0 in Lonesome Road. Make sure you have something with good bass response to listen on.

Adam is an amazing beatbox, 2/3 of the way through the song, I wondered if his part in this song was like making a race horse walk slowly around the race track, just a random thought.
