This song is from the Canadian-French rock opera Starmania, written in 1976 by Michel Berger and written by Luc Plamondon. He made his debut in 1978 with a studio recording of songs, before the stage premiere in 1979. The main character sings this lullaby when he loses his beloved. This is a lullaby. A very difficult piece to perform. No one has done it properly yet. Dimash has been polishing it for years. And this is his pinnacle achievement.

My friend, you missed a lot😅. It’s good that you are back👍 So many songs you don’t know. He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobys is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and, like the dombra, very widespread among Kazakhs. The man who often plays the Kobys in Dimash's performances (like here in Stranger) is the best on the instrument and a very good friend of Dimash's. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. This instrument can often be heard when Dimash sings songs in his native language such as Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range. Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship. If I have any complaint about this performance is that the music is sometimes a little too loud; making it a wee bit difficult to hear Dimash. Overall though, this is excellent. Nice reaction by the way. I appreciate how you compared this to the classic The Singer version.
