My mother got this machine when I was in kindergarten in 1959. She made a lot of our clothes and curtains with it. I have it now. it is still a workhorse although I have made some things, I am basically a knitter and crocheter, I repair things on a sewing machine. most of what I make on a sewing machine looks homemade,, not finished as some folks.

Very deftly performed demonstration. This would seem to be the quintessential first-look of this particular model and addresses all the issues of it's simplicity and capability. This was sufficient to satisfy any questions I might have about this revered model of straight stitch workhorses. Have been watching one of these on Craig's List and your video may have been the reassurance I needed to pursue it further. Mike Kirwan - Kenmore, WA

When she puts the bobbin back in, what thread is she using after? The thread from the bobbin in the bottom of the machine or the thread from the red thread on top of the sewing machine?

Good video just a little dark on some part's couldn't see how you threaded the bobbin
@imagineme.9348 Жыл бұрын
I’m still sewing on the same Singer 404 machine that was my mom’s. However, you are threading the bobbin wrong. You put the spool of thread on the small pole on the bottom right then pull the thread upward and put it in the bobbin.

My mom had this machine for years. It was her mothers. Both were incredible with sewing. Unfortunately my beloved mom passed away before teaching me. I'm having trouble figuring out how to thread the needle. Can you provide a detailed video on how to thread the needle?

Hopeful you can answer my question after all this time. I have this machine and case. I can't figure out how the foot pedal is stored in the case. There is a metal strap at the front end of the case top but is that for the foot pedal? Attachments?

Ever used a different foot on this machine? Like a narrow hem foot?

Hello! I recently came into a Singer 404 that used to belong to my grandmother. I was wondering if there were any resources you can direct me to in order to clean and upkeep this machine. It hasn't been used in many years, though it turns on and will run. I just want to make sure it stays that way and there isn't anything additionally wrong. Thank you in advance!
