    Its especially poignant since virtually all the Simpsons writers are liberals, many of them atheists, and yet they honestly showed a staunch conservative like Flanders as a goodhearted person and even a role-model. Its always beautiful when people of one end of the political spectrum can see that even people with very opposing views can still be perfectly good people.

    I have a 2 year old daughter. Thinking of her gets me through my work days. I can be a bumbling idiot (a bit like Homer) but if there's one thing that I've done right (aside from the love for my fiancé, her mother) it's being her dad.

    In my opinion, the touching moment in the Maggie's "Daddy" part was that sometimes Homer doesn't think that his family truely love him, so hearing his children calling him Dad means a lot for him, cause that means that they see him more than just a regular person, he's their father, their FATHER, and being stupid doesn't mean you don't know what love is, so hearing them calling him Homer means that he's nothing special for them. What do you think? Let me know :)

At it’s core, no matter how much the characters rag on each other, their love we have for them and they have for each other makes them real. The beautiful thing about human beings is our ability to relate with one another. Life can be hard, it can be seen pointless, but damned if it isn't good when you get to spend time with the ones you love and how they love you. Like, the whole episode is filled with jokes about Bart and Lisa calling Homer by his first name, then it just ends with Maggie calling him "Daddy" and it's played completely strait. It's so sweet and tragic cause to this day, after 30 years, that's always been her first canonical word....and he'll never know.

  • @Johnlindsey289

    @Johnlindsey289

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yup i did from 1989 to May 2000 as i was 5 back in 87 when they had shorts on Tracy Ullman and 7 when their own show debuted 31 years ago and this show was a unique anti-authority antihollywood satire that was rebellious like Married with Children was showing families were not all perfect. I remembered Simponsmania 3 decades ago and it was amazing even the arcade game, the video games for NES and SNES, the computer game, the merchandise and all. Plus taped episodes from 1989 to May 2000. But it had a heart and a soul to it plus excellent writing, sarcastic smart humor that was actually funny and relatable characters you connected too. That show ended with Behind the Laughter as to me it ended the show beautifully! then in September 2000 a completely different show that resembles The Simpsons only by surface but not the inside and is not the same show as The Simpsons, it's an unwanted spin-off that no one asked for called Zombie Simpsons. I noticed something was different about the humor/storytelling/characters i knew back in September 2000 to May 2005 as things were being different and the show was getting stale and i stopped watching The Simpsons in 2005 as "that 90s show" was the last straw. I tried to watch 2 episodes of Zombie Simpsons in 2014 and MY GOD they were awful and i knew why i stopped watching the show and only stick to The Simpsons (1989 to Behind the Laughter) . Let's face it, this show is a product of the late 80s and 90s as it kind of belongs in those times and is a part of those times and rooted in those times. Trying to make it relevant for this century just dates it badly and hurts the show. I mean today we have adult animation that are kings like Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman and more. Zombie Simpsons is like a beloved childhood/teenhood friend who's been on life support for a long time, you've come to accept he's gone, waiting for someone to pull the plug so they won't suffer anymore.
