Simple Winch Bumper, Ultimate chevy S10 Rock Lander DIY tube bumper

Lets build a bumper!!
If you want a custom, more aggressive look for your rig you need to build yourself a custom tube bumper. We take a Warn universal winch plate some scrap steel and DOM tube to create a custom one of a kind bumper from scratch. Was it difficult.. Yes, was it time consuming.. yes... but totally worth it. This will go nicely with my freshly built tube rock sliders. It doesn't matter what kind of vehicle you have, the concept is the same. I had a blast building this, so get out there an fab! Of course i am using the harbor freight Badland apex 12k winch, I had great luck with it on the Jeep so i will continue to use it on all my rigs.

I love when “mistakes” become a meaningful part of the design! Also, i think it looks a lot cooler sticking out in the middle. It’s like an accenting break in symmetry

This is the most exciting build on KZread for me, not only have I just purchased a 2003 ZR5 crew cab Sonoma but my name is Kelly and im also a dude! these S10/Sonoma crew cabs are the best kept secret right now, they can be obtained for such a low price and the drive-train is super solid minus the suspension and axles which anyone wheeling would swap out anyways. keep up the good work!

Haha, awesome. I feel like these are getting more popular as I build it. I paid a little more for mine but it was the cleanest one in the northwest. Had to drive quite a ways to go get it.

I'm not into the whole beard hype that permeates the internet, but I liked this video. I love hidden or partially tucked winches. I like the choice of S10 as an offroad platform. I loved Colt's ONYX challenge S10. Enjoyable watching but I did have to turn down the audio every time you play music. Music should be no louder than talking. I can relate to the "no space" issue, my garage is full of machinist machines and fabrication tools, so I work on the driveway. Pre-bent examples are invaluable, but so few fabricators make them. Nate's Samari is the best build on the internet. It turns out killer BTW. Good catch on the removable section. My lifelong motto is "Think thrice, measure twice and build once." The end result contains my two favorite attributes, it is simple, and it is strong.

If you ever come to NY we are gonna have to wheel. I have a s10 sitting on leaves with a 44/60 combo. It has 14” of travel in the front and a touch more in the rear. I have a very similar bumper and slider set up. That I built over a year ago. 😂😂

You can Remote mount the control box. I actually ended up pulling the control box apart and just using the necessary parts back up behind the grill.

One drawback of the apex winch is you cannot clock the gearbox to make the clutch handle more accessible. At least you relocated the solenoid pack. Most forget you can do that.

It is behind the grill mounted on the core support. I had to remove everything from the control box to make it fit. 9 months and many uses and I have not had any issues yet.
