Hi Chris, have watched many of your very informative videos on KZread and wanted to ask you a question. I have an Edge Switch 8XP that is set up as follows. My router is connected to the Management port. On port 1 is my PC, on port 2 is a Nano Station Loco 5AC (AP PTP), on port 3 I have a Cloud Key Gen2+ . Then on port 4 is a UVC G3 Flex, on ports 5 & 6 are 2 x UVC G3 Pros My question is why can I not get the G3 Pro cameras to negotiate 100Mbps FDX as they will only connect at 10Mbps. The UVC G3 Flex connects fine at 100Mbps. Is there any reason why the wont connect at a higher speed? All the cabling is the same spec CAT6 and the lengths to all three camera locations is similar (around 15 metres) Also I have a Nano Station 5AC (ST PTP) that I will be mounting on my garage that will connect to the previously mentioned AP PTP on the house. I also have an AirCube AC, an EdgeSwitch 5XP and two more Ubiquiti cameras that will be in the garage. What is the best way to wire these up in terms of the AirCube AC and the switch in terms of supplying POE to the ST PTP and will Unifi Protect allow me to manage these two additional cameras via the 5XP switch in the garage and the wireless bridge? Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks......Rod

Question it seems that everyone is setting these up with a Static IP, but is it ok to set it up to use a DHCP, mainly because when I set it up at my clients if they have to replace there router from Bell or whomever in a year or 2 when the router needs upgrading or they change internet providers then it should auto detect a new IP if set as DHCP vs having me come out to site and re-setup the IP if the new router has a different IP range etc, or whats your opinion on that. I am trying to understand why everyone is setting these up as Static IP's etc. Thank you kindly,

I've setup a OOB Network for my internal DC Network guy with one LiteAP 120° (on a huge tv tower) and put PowerBeams on the 30km distance, LiteBeam (aka salat bowl) for the 3-15km endpoints and also NanoStations Loco for testing. But in the CIty the NanoBeam were not Useable, because get hit by to much backround noise at the Station sites and the LiteBeam is half the price. It's all a Broadcast domain for running OSPF in case of a Fibercut. (as DC Provider our carriers had multible ways into the campus, but sometimes two cable search devices from cat find a cable) All of my routers are ER-X or ER-X-SFP and runns fine. Even if the Firmware failes doing upgrade on the MX960's, my network guys still could get into console. (They were rofl away, as they heard the price of my setup and call it "toys", but it saved their ass) So we mostly only use them for OOB access and backup way for Monitoring of your DWDM and connectivity platform

After setup the maintenance radio's no longer appears when powered up on my airMAX LiteAP's. I would like to turn that feature back on if possible for "maintenance" purposes.

What I want to know, is if I had those, is 450 Mbps actually easy to get, or is that like the maximum if you are a professional and have zero humidity?

Have two of these plus two M5's. Stable link at 655.2Mbps around 0.1 miles or 1,100FT Using Starlink at home I get 180Mbps easily over at the party pool area 😎 Some times see 200 however 180 seams to be the norm over these links

You should mention, that you can connect to the management wifi created by Nanobeam even with a PC/laptop and change the IP via the web management interface.

even better, you can open management web via a smartphone, AirOS 8 is responsive, and change for example Advanced network settings, UNMS app can not change that.

I just setup the nanobeam 5 ac gen2, in the unms it keeps saying that it’s flapping. What could be causing this?

Hi Chris, thank you a lot for your videos, I am setting up a PTP what do you think the internet speed expected on the other side ? Should is drop way down or should it be close to the main speed getting into point A? Thanks

What could be the issue if my 2x nanobeam 5ac gen2 (bridge) connects well when i have one configured as Access Point ON with PTP off and second has AP off and PTP off. But when trying to change first AP + PTP ON and second AP OFF + PTP ON it does not want to connect with each other.

Can you limit the speed? Example if I get 100mbs and I only want them to get around 30 to make sure we have priority.

What about bridging multiple VLANs? Does it support tunneling 802.1Q (sometimes called q in q)? I setup a wireless link with a couple of MikroTik SXTs. I had to setup a SSID for each VLAN that I wanted to bridge. Worked flawlessly but was a bit of pain.

The Ubiquiti APs support 802.1Q if the feature WDS is enabled. WDS is enabled on the nanoBeam AC g2 by default and can't be turned off.

The ESP is not for a lightening strike. It's for static electricity in the "air". So strong electromagnetic fields and "static" potential energy on your roof during a storm. If lightening discharged through your wireless bridge and followed down into your cables, than the ESP protection will get blown to bits and the lightening would continue downwards. The siliest mistake I see is people Earthing a metal roof, which increases static energy and increases the chance of a capacitive discharge (lightening strike). Anyway great vid, btw.

No you need a separate access point for clients on the remote side.

My college kids are now learning from home. I have a separate guest house approx 75 ft from my WiFi-equipped main home. I want the guest to have the same Wifi capability and password as the main house. Been watching your KZread seminars on wireless point to point. What equipment is best - using 2 NanoBeans or using a NanoBeam to a Loco5 or is there something better I have missed - its only 75 feet with no LOS obstructions? What other pieces or equipment would I need.
