@theredraven Actually in the beginning it Bono and U2 aspired to have a sound like Simple Minds. And you can hear it clearly on U2's early albums. Somehow SM began following the "U2 formula" and I guess it went wrong. I may be biased though since I am an American and my first introduction to SM was Don't You....Then OUAT and I worked BACKWARDS to Life In A Day .

When a band goes so high (New Gold Dream, Sparkle In The Rain etc) they can only come down. Once Upon A Time isn't too bad but after that the magic kind of fades. You can see in the music video for All The Things She Said that he's trying really hard to be like Bono. Shame really.
