Ғылым және технология

Alok's architecture firm takes simple ideas and combines them with innovative building solutions to bring about radical change in the social infrastructure of a community. From creating rural clinics made of locally available materials, designing aquamarine parks that are a source of fresh water and electricity, or transforming shipping containers into auditoriums, Alok is striving to improve the standard of living in third world and emerging economies.
CURRENT PROJECTS

• Launching the Bhumiputra Scholarship and Housing Program this year.
• Official launch of the Black Box Theater Prototype
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

The world needs more achitects like this man and less architect that want to be excentric artists. My college thesis was about this type of modular contructions, I develop a temporary shelter out of bambu, so the work of this man resonated a lot much with me and my views that architeture can be useful in pratical and concrete ways to society.

WoW. This touched my heart and spirit. Ive been designing low income housing complexes in my mind and on The Sims. He inspired me to go to architecture school, which is what I originally wanted to do a long time ago. This is one of my favorite Tedx. Thank you. 🙏

With the "black box" it would be so easy to set up schools and clinics anywhere in the world. This is just amazing. It would so helpful for after disaster help.

Shipping containers are the BEST boxes to think inside really. I don't think I've been disappointed yet with shipping container architecture whether it's a collapsible/modular structure in one or two containers designed to be mobile, or their use as pieces to build the skeleton of larger structures.

Septic tanks should be mention. Around the world no sepic tanks standard. Best design for septic tanks should be like the blackwater (toilet) should be seperated from gray water( sink , Shower) and the liquified processsed from the black water tanks should be drain to the gray water tanks. the processed liquid from gray water tanks to the drain fields.

None of this is really innovative...these kinds of projects (and truly innovative projects) are presented and discussed in architecture schools every day. I had a professor that worked with students to design and build a low cost brick that filters air pollution, for example. This video is just 18 minutes of some dude bragging about his own accomplishments while trying to present his good but unremarkable ideas as if they are cutting edge...
