Yep, we are just so blessed here with this red clay. Hard as concrete in the summer and sticks to everything in the winter 😩
very cool stuff... thanks for taking the time to video it. One thing you might consider is some sort of cover or wrap over those rubber elbows, just to keep the UV off of it a bit and extend the life of them.
What I did is took a 55 gallon plastic drum and cut the top off then put 1-2 inch holes all over the sides about a foot from the bottom to the top. Then filled it with pieces of broken concrete and big rocks and 3/4 inch stone. I made the hole in the ground around 2 foot bigger than the drum and filled it with the 3/4 inch stone. I then put weed fabric over the top of the drum and hole then covered it up with dirt. Works great.

Pete, you could fill the depression with gravel and not have to worry about mud in the future.
Didn't you buy a trenching machine when you did the rainwater catching system project , curious why you hand dug and not use trencher?

In the video I mentioned that the ground was too muddy and it would get stuck 😩
Hi Pete, by letting the foul water seep through into the ground does it not containminate the ground without some sort of treatment wnd make it worse for you and the time it takes to be absorbed would you not make it worse by way of stinking smelly part of your garden?

Whether it's a drain field or letting it soak into the ground, the bacteria in the ground will break it down. The grey water has very little biological material in it to make it smell bad as long as the area is big enough to absorb it.
