Simple DIY Bearded Dragon Setup 2022

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

in this bearded dragon setup we show everything about how to build a bearded dragon setup from a bearded dragon background, ledges for the bearded dragon to be able to reach diffrent heat and bearded dragon uvb . uvi is a big change that's just happened for bearded dragons. having the uvb concentrated over the bearded dragon basking spot makes your bearded dragon enclosure closer to nature meaning your bearded dragon will start acting like a bearded dragon in the wild because you've given your pet dragon a setup the closely replicates nature.

Love the build, personally for me I put the salad bowl in the coldest side of the viv, keeps the salad fresher for longer and it doesn’t dry out because it’s under the basking bulb

This is awesome and given me ideas for my two bearded dragon vivs. Would this 9:09 work for a waterfall part of the background in a bio-active dart frog paludarium? Or can you recommend an alternative to DryLok that they use in the American videos

Great videos. How come you changed the position of the dimming thermostat probe from the middle of your old set up to being under the basking spot on your new one. Is there a reason for this as i am not sure where to put mine.

What plaster did you use? I was going to use grout but pretty much all grouts are mould resistant so I can't use them. Is there something I need to keep an eye out with plaster too?

love the build! i have a question if you don’t mind. i trust you more than anyone with beardie set ups! i hope that’s ok. i recently upgraded to a new tank and it’s pretty big, just over 120 gallons. the 100w heat bulb wasn’t heating it up enough at all so i’ve now fit a 150w which is heating to 95f in the basking spot at most and 76f on the cold side. also have a dimming thermostat which never has to do it’s job as it doesn’t get hot enough lol. while i know this will suffice in the summer that’s coming up, at the moment and in the winter after, 95f basking is obviously not enough. 105f would be ideal for him. i’m wondering what would be the best way to boost the heat up a bit? if i bought say, a 25w bulb to help, i’m confused on what the thermostat situation would be for that - for two bulbs working at a time. i have a ceramic heat emitter fitted with a pulse-p thermostat which i use for winter nights, but i’m thinking i could use it to boost the tanks heat in the day too but i’m unsure if it’s safe to have a ceramic heat bulb on 24/7. i can’t find much online regarding having a ceramic bulb on all the time. would that be safe? any help here is much appreciated :)

It’s safe to run a CHE 24/7 as long as it’s regulated by a thermostat. Although they don’t need heat at night, they can tolerate a drop as low as 50F. The basking spot should be 110-115F during the day. Make sure you’re measuring surface temps with a temperature gun. To raise the basking spot temperature you can elevate the basking spot and/or use a material that conducts heat better. Also, keep in mind that 120 gallons is only the bare minimum, bigger is strongly recommended. Many people believe the minimum should be even bigger than that.

I have a few questions... 1. I thought you normally go bioactive? 2. Why is slate an upgrade? 3. I thought heat was supposed to come from a bulb without light?

The plants I want for my bio setup are not avaliable at the minute. I've gone half slate and half lose just for enrichment. Diurnal species defiantly need visible light, uv light and infered over the basking spot just like in nature. No light means no uva which stops there body producing important vitamins .

That's great info thank you! So is it a myth that red light hurts their eyes and what heat source do you use at night as I thought the viv had to be total darkness.

  • @NORTHERNEXOTICS

Red lights are just useless. They give more negative affects then positive. I don't need a heat source at night. Between the fo background insulating the enclosure Ambiant room temp I have a temp drop at night the same as what Australia would naturally have

My probe isn't on the basking spot. Putting the probe on the basking spot only gives you basking spot heat with a sharp decline in ambient temp across the enclosure. My probe is in the hot side corner set to 27 giving the correct basking temp and a more gental slope in temp through the enclosure providing a wider thermal regulation area

Husbandry is to do with cleanliness. I think your referring to enrichment to which you are correct. I mean like he gets added enrichment through the hunting and being able to thermal regulate both heat and uv but I'm with you. He needs more. I did plan for live plants but the species I want are not avaliable at the minute. And he does have a digging area which he is using. We have a plan to change his flooring which will help.
