Bearded dragons need a certain level of care or so to meet that level of care we created a DIY Rreptile enclosure from scratch that was much nicer than anything we could have purchased from petsmart. Our bearded dragon is much happier now as a result.
whether it's a snake tank, lizard cage, or multi-species terrarium, this project will help you build either one you desire. It was a lot of fun! Stay tuned and check it out from start to finish.

This is amazing. I'd love to be able to build something like this.. thing only this is is that you absolutely do not need whatever that red light bulb is. In fact red light like that can damage their eyes. Bearded dragons only need a basking bulb and uvb strip but still, all said and done this is great!

Definitely agree. Red bulbs are for nocturnal reptiles. It can damage their eyes and cause metabolic bone disease.
@femkeevabroersma
3 жыл бұрын
@@Slow_As_We_Go these aren't good for nocturnals either, it's been debunked that reptiles can't see red light and don't have any issues with it. It's generally better to just stay the heck away from those things. Better options are for example deep heat projectors or ceramic heat projectors, those don't admit any light.

What do they need for the night
@miserablebrian9245

@@user-yomomma nothing at all unless your house gets super duper cold at night. In which case, a ceramic heating element that gives off heat but no light. They have an actual name but I forget. But if your house stays in the 70's degree range at night. Then they don't need and shouldn't have any lights on at night. I keep mine off from 9pm to 9am.

I have watched dozens of diy enclosure videos and this one is by far the best. Thank you for filming and posting your process!
That dragon is so much happier, you really did a great thing taking him in and giving that guy a proper home
That was really cool! One happy dragon for sure. The excitement you got when the glass fit lol. You did a great job man.

Depending on how the temperature gets in your house at night you might also want to look into getting him a ceramic heater to keep him warm while his lights are off. And I would also suggest getting him a hide for the cool side of his terrarium

Humidity also increases at night too so monitor that should be around %50 at night temp at night should be around 50 degrees farenheit

@@aeislin5657 How can humidity increase during night when there isn't heat? Humidity is basically water vapour, which appears when there's heat. It's usually cold during the night so that doesn't make any sense
Out of all the diy videos for an enclosure this is most definitely the most helpful. You did an amazing job
Use timer for the light and a thermostat for the heating it will give you peace of mind and will be safe for your baby dragon 🥰 this is amazing care btw
This was just what I needed! My dragon uses the 40 gal breeder tank, that stays in my office and there's another tank, which isn't big enough, at home. She stays at work with me and comes home on the weekends and I've been researching how to build your own habitat and this was perfect. You gave a lot of neat and inexpensive tips, so thank you for posting!
This video makes my happy❤️🦎
Spent almost an hour looking at videos for ideas, and this is the best one i have seen yet. Good job and thanks for sharing
This was wonderful. It was so satisfying to watch all those clean wood cuts and see a nice tank come together!
You are 100% right about most of these videos on KZread where the people talk way to much. Your video was great and stuck to the points. The enclosure turned out great and I would definitely buy one if you start making them. Thanks for the great video and taking care of the dragon.
Out of all the diy wood enclosure videos I've watched, this is the coolest, most unique looking one. Absolutely love it!
I would pay you if you make me the terrrium!!!
About to build my 5 month old beardie a tank now that I have seen your video. So straightforward & great detail has given me the confidence to try this on my own. I was looking at a 67 gal tank for over $300, but I can make a tank twice as much for less than half of the cost if I do It myself. Great video again, & thanks for sharing.
Wow. Amazing enclosure. Many years ago I built one for a red tail boa. I didn’t have the tools you got. I pretty much made a box. Cut out a front window. Used plexi glass. Cut out the top used a mesh and hinges. Added a lock. Pretty sweet and simple. Yours looks professionally done. You can always paint or texture the back wall to cover up the cuts you accidentally made. Or do a styrofoam dry lock back piece. Add some foliage and you’re done. Talk about a spoiled dragon!!! This really inspired me...thank you!!!
I've never made ANYTHING with wood, but I really wanna make custom reptile enclosures and this really helps my confidence in me being able to make something for the first time! I don't expect it to look as good as yours, but it's a step I gotta take in order for my reptile babies to have the best life
I love how he realized he was doing something wrong by doing his research and then fixed the problem😤AWESOME video dude keep it up‼️💯✨
Cool project...and sometimes good to add variety from the norm...
Awesome build!!!!🤙🏼🏆 Thank you for sharing your knowledge and tips!!!🤜🏼🤛🏼
You’ve done such an amazing job! I’m planning on making an enclosure for my beardie whenever he gets older and bigger. Right now he’s in a 40gal, which is the bare minimum a beardie should be at, but right now he’s still young and fits comfortably in it. You did an amazing job, but one thing I’d suggest is changing out the red bulb. (I think I saw a red one in the dome fixture, I hope I’m not mistaken, I apologize if I am) It’s a common myth around the bearded dragon community that red bulbs are better because they don’t bother the lizard and you can have it on at night and the lizard can’t see it. However, the lizard can see it, and you don’t need heat at night unless the temperature is below 65F. In some cases, the red light actually causes eye damage to the lizard. Other than that, you did an amazing job!
Amazing ... I have to start planning a DIY enclosure before my baby dragon grows up... I hope I can get as close as possible to something this awesome and spacious😍🙏🏼
Beautiful enclosure! One lucky dragon!
Great diy! I love it! This may have just helped me design my beardies future home! But just a tip: the red light is a no go! He only needs the basking bulb and the big uvb like you have. If your house temps drop too low at night, or low in general, you can get a ceramic heat emitter bulb, it gives off no light.
Great job on the project, looks really good.
This is a lifesaver. My leopard gecko is going to outgrow their enclosure soon🦎 and I want to make a custom one. My father in law is a construction worker so he will be able to help me. I’m so excited, thank you so much.

This is so cool!! You did an awesome job! 😍 Thinking about doing the exact same thing when I get a beardie, but change it up a little to where I have a sliding glass door on the front instead. But this is beautiful! I'm so happy you gave that little guy a new and much better home! ❤️❤️

Very cool man! You need to find him a chunk of drift wood for the tank. 👍.
Great little video man. I hadnt thought of all the sensors before.
Awesome. So cool. That you hand made a tank.
Look pretty cool, love the simplicity design great job 😁❤
Cool
my dad loves DIY project
He did a great job it looks really dope I am going to eventually build me one out of a dresser when I get my bearded dragon
Really awesome build, in my build i used a roll of PVC for the flooring which is a bit thicker then the mat you used, same smooth easy clean non-slip benefits but just a bit more heavy duty
Thats really cool
just add screen mesh to the other vents for the crickets haha this was amazing!
Very cool! You should do a tank stand now to match! That'd be cool to show that build as well. Great work.
Excellent home terrarium, good chalet for the bearded one, a tip I would change the red bulb for a ceramic one, the red light narrows them and the ceramic does not since only no light gives heat.
I really love that tank you build WOW I’m not that crafting I would pay to have something like that build for my little guy 😊
I really like reptiles I have all my life. I am looking forward to getting a bearded dragon soon when we get get unpacked in our new house. Well my dads house I live with my mom full time right now while my dad earns enough for a house. I know so much already about them and I want to make my own cage like this. It would be cheaper and fun it would feel special. Thank you for making this helpful video.
Well done
I took on a beardie as a rescue "Pancake" and have him currently in a 5 ft. vision cage. For his UVA/ UVB lightthe closer he can get to it about 6 inches is important, I'm starting construction on his permanent cage a filing cabinet that's been modified. This was a great video and I subscribed short, sweet, and to the point.

Im just wowed this is awesome , I wish I had this skill for my dragon . Every one says they need a bigger cage you did great My cage will probably be more eating and sleeping as Im training this one to house roam. My first dragon lived to be 12 years so Im going to try new things with this one . Its summer get the kid pool out time for some swimming dragons love it mostly if they are raised to enjoy water.
Wow I best diy I have seen
me from Indonesia,im proud of you brad, good luck
Imma bout to get another bearded dragon. Had one before but circumstances forced me to get rid of him. Funds are tight and this is a REALLY helpful video. I may end up trying to get further pointers from you, my dragon will be ready for pick up next weekend. He's kinda like a rescue...
This is amazing I want to build something similar to this. The only thing I would change is I would put hinges on the top front and make the whole front open up. I think it’ll be easier to clean from the front. This is a really great video I love that you got straight to the point and explained everything perfectly. I’m definitely going to use this as a guide when My bearded dragon will get a little bigger and will need a larger terrarium
Nice!!! Great job!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Looks great! 💪🏽

👍 Good job!
Really nice job. Lose the red bulb. It screws up their sleep cycle. A better option is a ceramic heater if you're trying to keep their temps up
Wow love this. I need to build an enclosure for my lil homie. He's getting too big for his. I didn't notice how big he's gotten since I'm around him all the time
When putting in this much effort into this enclosure that dragon better appreciate it
I need one of these so bad
Great video
good work
Could u say all of the lights , wood and glass u use Love the vid . Very good project ! Thanks for the entertainment :)
We have a bearded Dragon and since it's summertime we have been placing him outdoors in a caged open space with dirt, and various eatable plants like dandelion greens and kale. The natural Free Sunlight and fresh air are great for him. Just provide a place for them to hide and cool off if need be. Great build!!

@@HelloThere-lo3qi Depends on your location. He doesn't go out if it's too cold and or if the sun isn't going to provide him warmth. You also should provide so sort of shade cover and or hiding spot for them cool off. If it rains and it's still hot outside then provide cover and drainage for your enclosure. They may like a little rain if it hot and humid outside.

Nice work. I prefer more glass, it this is strong!!
Can you post a your supply list? Tool's used screws needed, ventilation, glass and wood measurements. This was amazing and gorgeous work. I definitely want one made.
I absolutely loved this, and I can see your Bearded Dragon did as well. Also, I find it a bit amusing that my father has a similar way of thinking. Like, a while ago I had told him that I would be needing a frame for my new bed and would've liked it to be a wooden one. And since he was like "why is it so expensive when I could easily just do it myself". So, he did. And not only that, but he made both my brothers and I a new wooden bed frame. Pretty sturdy if you ask me. It's nice to get new things, but I must admit, it feels even better when you create something or help create something and it turns out amazing. By the way, I'm new to your channel and I just have to say, I love your name. "Tiny Boat Nation", is fantastic.

Thank you for sharing, I adopted mine and the grandkiddos we reduced also, were making one of my granddaughters dragon and ours this one, so awesome.... do you know how old yours is?
Hi! I’m actually using your video as a guide to make my beardie his forever home! Can you please give all the measurements and a little more step by step description on how you made this ? I’ve never built anything in my life so I’m super excited to try this, just don’t want to mess it up. Like what screws were used and what not as well
I love this enclosure. What kind of wood did you use and what are the dimensions?
Awesome video really happy for your dragon, the only problem I saw is that he may need some more things in the cage for him to play on and the red bulb has been said to hurt their eyes, I’d suggest a ceramic heat emitter with a dimming switch
For the substrate you could get a sand mat, it will make them feel like they're in their natural habitat but you won't have the risk of impaction
This is great I need to make this for when I get my iguana (it will obvi be bigger)
that was an amazing build do you have a list of the tools ill need
I was thinking about how you were getting your measurements.. squared lines haha I mean that in the best ways btw. I overthink and do a bunch of sketches and scale drawings and measurements and marking and all this other stuff and if you’re knocking this thing out of the park, with just a square. I could almost tell you’re a steel worker. I bet you had some old school working guys in your life. Great Solutions to a bunch of different problems you had to deal with and I love the shelf liner for the bottom of the tank I’m definitely going to steal that from you.
What lights are you using in that dual lamp?
Love the vids 👍.
Can you share a list of the materials/sizes you used? I need to upgrade to a bigger enclosure for my beardy and thinking making one is my best bet.
How do you like that Milwaukee offset driver thing? I was thinking about getting one but wasn't sure how useful it would be
Nice
Have you had any problems with using pinewood vivarium? And did it split with the heat?
I'm hoping to build a custom enclosure for my beardie, I plan to custom fit it to my dresser. It will end up being like 4 foot by 20inch by 20inch. Should be around 110-120 gallons. Way better than a 40 lol
Do you have a link to the sink drains you used for the ventilation?
Love the video... thank uuuu

You could use quarter round to hold the front glass in instead of those metal brackets. It would have gave it a cleaner finish. Your video gave me some ideas though for my daughter's chameleon enclosure. thanks for sharing
Is there a link somewhere to the rock hide on the side of the enclosure?? Looks great!
What are the metal inlets called you used to rest the glass on?
