    I grab the material on the top/inside of the knee to prevent a technical stand up, it's a very strong and pretty awkward grip to break too, what would you do to deal with that? Kind of shuts down the Granby as well. Just turtle?

    That grip can be strong, but if the arm isn't right in front of my knee it can be very difficult for you to stop me from bringing my knee to my chest as that is such a strong movement for me. I would establish the reverse collar tie frame and attempt to build up onto my elbow as that is a great starting point. From here I can at least by myself more time to fight at this range. I will threaten the technical stand up, granby, and just withdrawing to an open guard. Depending on the space I have to work with I may also just push your head away as much as possible to break your posture and shut down your positioning. It's going to be a battle for sure.

    This inversion shit doesn't work. A good half guard passer will always grab the collar and your opponents sleeve from Hip smash pass.
