Simon Swerwer - Kobold March
Музыка
Part of the original set of tracks inspired by Dwarf Fortress that I released in 2012. I've decided to officially put this track on KZread with all the SoundCloud hysteria in the air. Also, in hopeful anticipation of recording a few more tracks in 2017.
If SC does go down, I will hopefully be able to upload all the FLACs again somewhere else soon (BandCamp?).
Anyway, thanks to everyone for their support over the years.

I was listening to the soundsense playlist while playing dwarf fortress, and my fortress was being slaughtered by a necrowizard vampire, I felt so inspired to die when this came on
Great stuff! So very very underrated, I need to share this with my friends. "Where my Kobold bards at??"
The kobolds do be marching though

"The Kobolds march on two by two, haroon, haroon. . ."
This is the exact song I think of whenever I think of playing modded Dwarf Fortress. it's such an iconic and memorable song, and I freaking love it!
I think this is my favorite song from Simon Swerver... it’s hard to choose but if I’ve got to put my finger on one definitively it’s got to be Kobold March. That whistling always gets me.. I love it!!
A stalwart march to a fate unknown to many, but maybe salvation to few.
THIS SLAPS
this song is a damn banger
Hoping the steam release gets more of your legacy tracks, or at least the mod support for custom music gets expanded so we can add your legacy tracks as mods! I love his track a lot😁 it accompanied a lot of my adventure mode travels
"Don't tell the elves, but all the fish are gone."
Not gonna lie, this sounds like it could fit right into Rimworld

I'd say this one is sort of flamenco combined with cowboy type music
Are there tabs any where?

There are no longer dislikes. So is sadly fixed.
Looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was a Dragon :)
It'd be interesting to know how the compositional inspiration for this came along. It has oriental progressions but it mostly inspires (chords only, not the orchestration) Asia minor folk music of early 20th century. There are "rebetiko" songs of Asia minor that include a lot of your fills but they do it with buzuki or with lute. You go back to your blues, bluegrass roots in the main spirit of the composition but it is interesting how much you shift to the traditional/folk eastern roads. Interesting to know if you have any experience with these things.

Hehe, not sure what to tell you tbh. I incidentally found my playlist from around that time the other day and there's a lot of The Shadows, The Beatles, Steeleye Span and Ralph Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony (??) - all quite western. I guess I've always liked to listen wide, but I'm not familiar with rebetiko songs or any specific oriental progressions.

where they going? doesnt matter
Just a dumb thought, but the fact of the kobolds speaking in only utterances and how there's just whistling and a "Hugh!" in the song is just too much for me...

I don't know about you, but kobolds usually don't march in my worlds. Scamper, scadaddle and skulk, yes, but not march... Goblins, on the other hand... Yeah, might be case of mistranslation or something, sounds more gobliny to me.
Sounds pretty Greek ...or Spanish

Yeah, I agree on Spanish, probably because of the guitar.

Sounds to me more Western-inspired with the whistling and such

It sounds more Viking to me, just going by the overall vibe it has.

Sounds totally Greek to me. Other parts sound Spanish. It's like a mix of the two. I'm Greek and Spanish so I quite like it lol.
