SFA needs to deliver a plan for grass roots development.... the decline in players they now produce is massive compared to years gone by

Over coaching is a problem, and from a young age. A lot is based on possession stats etc. They need to loosen the reign quite a bit and let players do what comes naturally, because the talent is definitely out there. Too much emphasis put on tactics, players will become robotic. Let them loose.

Sky sports has killed Scottish football - you get 80 million for last place in EPL in parachute payments yet only 8 for WINNING the SPL... How do we grow grass roots when you stifle the game so? It is not like the EPL is full of Scottish talent so we benefit indirectly (we have but a handful, they're also about the only ones anyone talks about).

I can accept losing a game if it feels like we've actually left it all on the park.

We've always had aggression and hard work, it's what got us here. We just don't have the technical ability which is why we set up as we do. I'm 45 now and this conversation of Scottish players not being technically sound goes way back.

Sky Sports destroyed Scottish Football by only offering a paultry 30 million per season whereas the EPL he 100 million per season. Jim Whyte and Souness never want to discuss that fact.

Grant Hanley plays for them in 2024😂. How did a once great footballing nation end up so pathetic?

The best players Scotland have would not have made the squad 30 - 40 years ago. That's the problem, they're nowhere near good enough as players. The SFA need to sort themselves out, it's been a long slow decline.

Switzerland are notorious at this level of knowing what they are doing Talking about football intelligence, they always seem to have that, but alot of times lack the aggression of better teams Switzerland have a history of knowing how to play these games Its going to be a hard game for scotland, even though i do not watch football anymore, swiss are notorious at this level for just knowing how to play these games The scottish fans just want there team to show they can compete at this level Its upto scotland to show if they can or not, swiss are no mugs at this level, and they are notorious for knowing how to play in these games, and they make it hard for any team, all big teams find it hard to play the swiss

Don’t normally agree with The Souness but on this occasion he is bang on.

Because he is a muppet, giving Germany so much space was embarrassing. Luckily us Rangers fans we are following England bringing it home, I won't even bother watching the Switzerland game.

Both are Scottish clubs but with Celtic fans association with Ireland,, I’d have thought Rangers fans would consider their club to be entirely Scottish and only Scottish. Therefore, It surprises me that the Scottish support isn’t majority Rangers supporters.

Souness knew how to keep the forwards so scared of getting their legs broken they can't even think about getting past you, we haven't had good defenders in tooling it went downhill from Hendry onwards too nice

One hope for Scotland is the last time they played Switzerland in a tournament they won in 1996(nearly got through to the next round). But I think Gunn needs to be dropped 😀☕️⚽️

We gave Germany far too much respect. We need to play like we played in the qualifiers. We managed to beat a strong Spanish squad with the way we played.

technical ability is not wht tht sfa scouts have wanted for years. Ma friend and aye are coaches of a under 16 team we had a scouts watching our players a couple of years ago we recommended a couple of players who were small skill full they were only interested in how tall are they and how fast can they run if you look at most of our squad there all big lumps with little ability.

I think the Scots have some good wide players. One of the top 10 crossers in the world in Robertson. And I'm saying that as someone who isn't Scottish nor do I support Liverpool. They need to use that. Get lots of crosses in, stop trying to play cute football cause you can't. Have McTominay make those runs into the box, and you'll get opportunities similar to Bellingham goal against Serbia. I think McTominay is a better header of the ball than even Jude. Not in anything else but in heading the ball surely. Have McGinn and McGregor on the edge of the box recovering the second ball and sending either a quick pass to whoever is the starting 9 or just shooting from 20+ yards themselves. They are both pretty decent Long shot merchants. Just keep it simple and effective. You are scotland not spain..

Play Scottish players like Scotland's own Shankland rather than playing English rejects and aussies

Stop with this aggression talk and focus on technical ability. Do you want Scotland to be down to 10 or 9 men? You only have to go back to tennis in the 80s and 90s just to see just how deficient British tennis players were lacking technically and then Andy Murray came along to win a major. No, Brits do not lack aggression after all in rugby England won the world championship with improved technical skills. We have to get back old sports day and P.E with modern day training methods and that means real competition. If you are really serious about improving then take a look at how USA beat Russian ice hockey team in 1980s known as the "miracle of ice" and just maybe look for footballers with sole purpose of winning international matches.
