to be honest calling martinez a bland manager is a compliment, the guy is bad, started with 3 wing backs. we were lucky that we won honestly, one own goal and the other was a defensive error. martinez subbed conceição and pedro neto only at 90' when we were losing since 62'. subbed leão off at 63', bad decision. subbed mvp vitinha off instead of bruno fernandes. any mid tier portuguese coach could be better than this guy...

The problem wasn't the formation but the players that didn't do there job and should have been sub out in the second half like Silva, Dalot, Concelo & Leao😝☕️😘👌

@@Jack-fq4yp it was not working mate, we had the ball but couldn't create dangerous opportunities, and thats why we could only score with their help. You have to create more chances if you have that many ball possession. When you have a great center back that plays in a line of 3 center backs, and you decide to put a full back instead of him, you are very wrong. I would sub off cancelo and Bruno fernandes at half time.

Then at 60 minute I figured at least 3 subs were coming and the other 2 at the 70th. It was an incredibly difficult match to watch, because the managerial decisions were so blatantly awful. Bruno, Cancelo and Bernardo all should have come off at half time or before the 60th. Portugal coulda won 3-0, 4-0 if they had made changes earlier.

The Portugal team is by far the most gifted squad at the whole tournament. They have game winners all over the pitch and on the bench. To top it off they can actually play too. Bruno, Vitinha, Bernardo Silva and co are a joy to watch. Goncalo Ramos, Neto, Conceicao and Jaoa Felix are also great options from the bench. These pundits are clueless if they think Portugal isn't a gifted squad.

Czech Republic were lucky they didn't concede 8. They were more battered than Scotland against Germany. A younger Ronaldo or Goncalo Ramos would have scored 3 easily.

But his achievements are not bad, he made Wigan a stable premier league team for much longer than they should have been as well as winning a trophy and his football was fairly ahead of its time. He struggled at Everton, but so has everybody since Moyes left. Agree on Poch though, i’ve no idea why he’s talked about in the upper echelons of Managers.

I don't get why we would need that narrative. He's won it. We've already seen this narrative played out. Would rather see a team win it that either hasn't done it in a while or has never won it. Agreed Martinez won't win you a tournament, he might be consistent in results, same as Belgium. His style of play will not win you a tournament. He plays to slow for me. Given the players he has, it is too bland.

Belgium was 3 year ranked first in the FIFA World Ranking he cant be that bad
