Losing 10 points actually did us a favour this season as it should ensure we remain outside the top 4. We can't have CL distraction next season, we need another season and a half to prepare for that.

@@kipakipa6382off course it's not good losing 10 points but I'd rather lose them ghis season as we've come good much sooner than many thought we would. Also no coincidence that we had our lowest scoring season jn history last year and our CF was injured hardly played for 2 yrs now we have him back and Beto too. Branthwaite and Tarkowski are as good a CB pairing as any in prem. Iwobi everyone said had been good he scored 6 goals in 4 yrs now Doucoure as our 10 has 11 in 31 games.

shaky defensively at times but he came on against Chelsea and did his job dutifully (against a speed merchant admittedly, but he held his ground). Was knocked by that injury he got with scotland as he was flying before then, but he definitely deserves a run of games starting next to an established back line to flourish

Everton with their players and manager Sean Dyche and his coaching staff are putting in a good fight and hopefully they stay up. Imo it's self-evident the 10 points deduction was wrong and disproportional compared to the scale of their 1 financial breach. Moreover the Premier League declared before their commission's investigation they wanted 12 points deduction and also changed some of the rules during the procedure. And then that (independent) commission sanctioned the 10 points penalty. It was not an independent decision, it was influenced beforehand. The Premier League's Appeal Board should return all those 10 points, or at least 5 points, if they have any sense of fairness. And if the Premier League's commissions are to respected at all, or called independent, they must show that they handle with the same principles the Manchester City case, with 115 alleged breaches. From those at least, say 30, will surely hold steadfast and be on the same "guilt-level" as Everton's 1 breach. So then the only outcome is to punish City 30 times harder than Everton. And therefore it's also important to know what is the final decision with Everton's sanction.

I agree 100% with your post above. We all know unfortunately that there's very little chance City will be punished at all. To do so would strip them of titles and relegate them ... not a chance the Premier league will allow their brand to be tarnished .. although ironically it would actually enhance the brand in terms of fairness and principle.

The 10 point deduction is also a fine. 10 points is going to equate to anything from four to six positions lower in the league come the end of the season. Last years prize money for each position higher in the league was £2.2m. Therefore anything from £8.8m upwards.

This "it was a good time to get the deduction" and "other times are rubbish so it's okay" is a poor narrative. It's an unprecedented punishment in the top fligjt and 10 points will mean they're 10 points off wherever they would have ended up. It might keep everton out of Europe and that's a huge punishment. If your wanted Everton relegated disguised as a points penalty then what you really wanted was Everton relegated and that's a different punishment and a different punishment all together. If Everton are 20 points clear of relegation come end of the season, doesn't matter who the bottom 3 are they'd have been clear any season.

I think who the bottom 3 are or how many points they have is irrelevant to Evertons situation. Its hypocritical what Simon says cause as he pointed out without deduction wed be close to European slots having lost only 2 from last 9 with 19 points from 27 thats top 6 form also 4 clean sheets in last 6 games including 3 straight against deceng teams not bottom 3 teams. So at this rate now we have a defence that has conceded less than everyone but lfc , Arsenal and City. So its not a fluke or flash in the pen its tge fact Dyche inherited 6 managers misfits we had 6 CB, 4 LW, no RW, NO CM, 1 LB, 1 CF, and forwards like Iwobi 6 goals in 4 seasons, Davies 2 goals 2 seasons, Gordon 5 in 2 seasons, Maupay 1 in 31, theyve been replaced by Mcneil 9 in last 30, Doucoure 11 in last 32, DCL fit and Beto as backup, Harrison RW, Garner CM, Holgate, Coady, Keane, replaced by Branthwaite. First time in years in every position is a legit premier league player and actual players on the bench with experience instead of u21s making tgere 1st or 2nd appearance but Danjuma, Beto, Patterson, Godfrey, Gueye, and weve spent buttons in last 5 seasons 18th in net spend 21m only Luton and Brighton less our 11 who beat NUFC 3-0 cost 92m, 2 free transfers, loans, Branthwaite cost 800k, Coleman 60k, DCL 1.5m, Gueye 6m, Garner 15m, Mykelenko 12m, Onana our highest transfer 33m been out 4 games due back. As we are atm we could end up easily with 45-50 pojnts with points deduction so that wont matter who bottom 3 are when were getting results like a top 8 team but finish 12th - 10 points. Well finish 20 points from trouble and theres a good chance still we get 3 - 7 points back through our ongoing appeal with many politicians as well as neutral football figures writing letters to parliament and speaking in our favour even Carragher saying how our punishment which prem admitted gave us no sporting advantage being an interest payment on new stadium plus our main sponsor who gave us 20-30 yr was forced out due to government sanctions after Russia invaded Ukraine Siggurdson who was on 6m yr but after police charges that didnt evolve yet he sat for 2 yrs paid by us then contract expired so we released for free our highest ever buy 40m we got nothing for all this should have gone in our favour but didnt 10 points too excessive 3 points is plenty for 1 charge and 20m fine.

What does that mean Palace beat City last Yr Southampton won at Everton last Yr still went down. Everton losg 1st 4 home games all 1-0 couldn't score we had 20 plus shots but had no DCL or Mcneil or Harrison and had Keane instead of Branthwaite at CB we have won 6 from our last 11 since then 3 straight wins all clean sheets Luton have 2 wins in 16 as do the other 2 and Forrest 3. Everton just beat 2 top 6 teams by 5 goals that's not a fluke. Luton could beat City nearly beat Liverpool but don't mean nothing if you win 2 in 16 conceding 32 goals that's relegation l day unless they won 1 every 3 till end of season then there down they win every 8 even 1 every 4 only gives them about 25 points and that's improving twice as much they'd still be fu7ked. They won't even get 23 points they average half point a game so on that end up on 19 points.

We already did we lost our 1st 4 home games no DCL, Mcneil, Harrison, Branthwaite since they've been back we've got 19 points from last 9 games winning 6 we've only lost 1 away from last 8 all comp at lfc even won at Villa in LG cup there only home game not won in 13 games. Only lfc, Arsenal and City conceded less this season. Teams who win 4 straight aways and keep 4 clean sheets in last 6 games against NUFC, CFC, WHUFC AND Forrest both away don't start playing like relegation team. Our defence is too good now to lose 3 or 4 in a row unless we lost Tarkowski who's played every minute of every game since start of last season 54 games or Branthwaite but if we play Godfrey instead of Keane we'd be OK. Totally different team to last 2 seasons no Davies, Holgate, Maupay, Gordon, Iwobi, Coady, instead got Branthwaite, Mcneil, Garner, DCL, Beto, Harrison. Lampard wouldn't play Doucoure since Dyche came in he's played 10 instead of Iwobi who scored 6 in 4 yrs Doucoure has 11 in 31 games. Don't forget them 2 relegation fights were our only 2 in last 20 yrs before them we were top 10 15 from 20 a lot top 8 no more bottom 4 for us now for long time that's why we've only spent 4 seasons since 1878 relegated last time 1951- 54 before that 1930 -31 that's it in our history. Longest serving top flight team in history of English football mate.
