Was a pathetic display from Scotland, played arguably the weakest side in the whole competition and shat it. I doubt Hungary would’ve beat any of the other 22 sides in the tournament, I doubt they would’ve even beat Albania or Georgia, yet they mug Scotland off. To not even have a shot on target, to not even have shot at all until the 60th minute in a game that’s there for the taking, is shocking. The Scottish “heart” & “desire” is a total myth.

Hungary were on a long unbeaten run of matches coming into this tournament. They beat England 4-0 at Wembley, 1-0 at home and beat and drew with Germany in the Nations League, they also beat Serbia twice 2-1, who England struggled with 1-0 so they are no mugs. It was a tough group and Scotland fell short but Hungary are a good side who gave Germany a good game despite losing in the second game 👍🏼

Last night's performance was awful. Clarke cannot survive that. Eighty minutes of ridiculous negativity, in a must win game, and then we looked like a schoolboy's team after the subs. We were all over the place after the substitutions, shambolic. Four central midfielders across the middle meant we had no width, no creativity in the wide areas. And James Forrest, who didn't get a sniff, is sat there on the bench with the ability to deliver what was missing in the wide areas. And Craig Gordon, who was sent home, is a better keeper than the other three in the squad. The manager's limitations were exposed last night in what was a truly embarrassing performance. He should resign.

Moyes going on about investment, Scotland, blah blah blah. What about the strength of Hungarys professional league? What about their investment? Does he think Albania has a strong professional league? None of these teams are lamenting and moaning about it, they get on with it and make the most of what they have. And more often than not, achieve more than Scotland. Its this attitude that is all wrong with Moyes, his dour, blame the system, attitude. Look at half time in the Swiss game, he says every manager wants to win the game but his pointers at half time were to shut up shop and try nick a win at the end. The man talks nonsense.

Stuart Pearce is 100% correct. If you have a chance of going through in a one off game you give it everything. Scotland did zero for 90 minutes, tried to nick a goal in the last 10 minutes and paid the price. Why the quality of football in Scotland and the quality of Scottish players has dropped off a cliff in the last 30 years is a huge question that needs addressed.

I'm english I only managed to see the second half but I was hoping and supporting Scotland mainly for there fans. I like most have loved seeing them parading around with the pipes they really have done their country proud! The players on the other hand that was unnacceptable. I'm not just hating and being petty as a englishman it is there for all to see some of that football was pub football abs shocking I don't except Scotland are a small country they have talented players who play for BIG premiership teams they did not show any fight let alone class to win that match. The truth is that if the players had 10% of the passion and fight of the fans they could have won this without the big names they have!!! That wasn't Spain France or Germany that was a underperformed Hungary team and the Scots didn't have a shot until the 52 minute or a corner until 70 odd minutes shocking tactics from the manager and shocking performance from the players. Abs brilliance from the Scottish fans you could have picked 11 of them and they would have give more than them players And before you say it england players were no better and Southgate tactics gives Clarke a run for his money lol it was just nice to have Scotland there and j fell like their manager and players wasted it

Would Someone like Souness have ended up at Liverpool in the modern age ? would he have got in Klopps team ? he might have. The fact is though, if the EPL was still a league consisting mainly of English players, with the rest scouted from the other parts of the UK and to a lesser degree Ireland, there would be far more Scottish players playing in that league. A lot of old time Scottish players who done well in England back in the day would probably not get to the league now, certainly not the top clubs. I don't think we produce as many good players as we used to simply because there is not as many kids playing the game, for whatever reason. But also it could be argued the way of the modern game has exposed the fact we were never as good as some people claim.

You’s were better man for man, probably the only side in the competition you were better than, on paper. It was all there for you, one game to go through, and you have the worst side in front of you, a side that had zero ambition besides survive and grab something on the counter. Yesterday had nothing to do with quality, or grass roots, or investment, it was to do with you’s being pragmatic against a side that was there to be beat.

@@thesmithsnerdYour point doesn't counter his point. He's saying that's why we couldn't beat a team we supposedly should beat. Countries with a similar population to Scotland, like Denmark & Croatia are producing passing players with superior technical ability to ours and we need to sort that at grass roots level. We only play well when it's high tempo and we are pressing teams and usually at Hampden with the crowd behind us. As soon as the game is slowed down and becomes tactical we fall short. We had more possession last night and about 50/50 against Switzerland but done nothing with it. Only when the game opened up towards the end did both teams have chances. We need to learn how to break teams down when we have possession not to just close counter attack and hope we nick a goal 👍🏼

They got 1 point and didn't actually score a goal (without help from the opposition kicking the ball past their own keeper). Very few shots on target in the 3 games. I actually thought Switzerland would beat them 4-0 so that was a good result. Scotland are Championship level in World Football (and possibly in the Championship).

I'm usually the first to clown on Scotland, but I do think it's fair to say they underachieved. They had some stellar performances in qualification and I do think they went into this tournament with at least some hope of getting out of the group stages. For a tournament with qualification for the best third-place teams, they really should have been in with a chance. To bottom the group with only one goal actually scored is abysmally bad, and I don't think was on most people's cards after qualification.

I'd like to see the player miles ran for Hungary game compared to the Switzerland game. I don't agree Clarke has done a great job. A 5-1 defeat in front of the world. England laughing at us. Then an acceptable performance against the Swiss. Then rubbish against Hungary. Adams should've been off at half time and replaced by Shankland, McGregor was not getting in the game, Forrest should have been given 20 minutes and Clarke should've been active in managing the game throughout. Scott Brown and Duncan Ferguson would've been good for that game. Bit a shoutin'. If Denmark beat Serbia and Slovenia beat England then its Germany for England.

We over analyse tactics... If you haven't got the ball.. Get it back... When you have the ball.. Pass, move, make space, be positive, be brave.. Take on players.. Smash into opponents... If you haven't got the skills have the desire not to lose the game.

We never played well , but should've had pen but for an Argie i wonder why wasnt Var checked ? Or was it ? Not what i seen, but thing is who gives out the verdict on var ? Interesting to know who ☝️ As for Clarke wrong team out and wring subs . Forrest should have played or came on say 2nd half and Shankland all game or least all the 2nd half . Also felt Hungary were not good, and if we played as we did v Swiss i feel we would have won . McGinn was our better player v Hungary yet taken off . Erm England has not played well and fortunate to win 1/0 v a poor serbia and 1/1 v Denmark . Tournament favs i revkon Spain my favs with Portugal and behind them both France and Germany where winners shall cone from . England has dissapointed many .

Little Northern Ireland with a smaller pool of players than Scotland’s and a far inferior league yet they managed to reach the knockout round in 2016. It’s a mentality problem with Scotland. They had enough time to prepare for this game in an attacking sense. Total lack of good team play and coordination in their final third. John McGuinn had gotten past players as was ready to cross/pass the ball along the goal line for a tap in....but the moron attacking players made no effort to move into position. They all stood like statues surrounded by Hungarians instead busting a gut to run to the goal line to to tap in.
