They don't attack. They don't go forward. They don't take shots. They are scared. They knock it short from the back. They go sideways & backwards rather than even sideways & forwards. The opposition doesn't need to press or mark Rice. In an England shirt he marks himself out of the game 90% of the time when England defenders have the ball. He hides behind or follows the opposition 9 or 10, and often closes off his own space when he could just hold his position or back out a few steps to have space and positive body position to receive and play forward. His unwillingness to be an option is the main reason why England are so laboured in their build up play. All his defenders have is to slowly play out to the wingers, who are never in a position to go forward, so they play backwards, and repeat the process on the other side of the field. On the odd occasion he does show and receive, they look alright moving the ball forward.

Maybe England are just getting started. The classic Italian way to winning tournaments has been to stumble through the group stages, often barely qualifying, absorbing a severe dose of criticism from an even more volatile media and nation of some 60 million self appointed football managers, then getting stronger through the elimination stages to finally peak in the final. England certainly has the talent to do so.

England is good enough talent wise to be more impactful. Event with the absent of coaching, which is present - we should see moments of brilliance from the players based on their natural ability. We are not seeing anything, just a disenchanted group. England (players) are more worried about the criticism and responding to the criticism verbally rather than answer the critics on the pitch.

Correction! There has been one player who has done something in the England shirt since Hust in 1966 and that player is Raheem Sterling in almost singlehandedly dragging this England team of players, who like players of the past since 1966 always seem to fail to deliver their club form in tournaments, to the first final for an England team for over 50 years. The sad thing is this is the thanks he gets for that and for giving us our most proudest and exciting tournament experience since 1966 simply because he is black. It's time to give him some respect in doing something that over half a century of players have proved to us is very difficult to do and both understand and recognised the magnitude of what Sterling did and what kind of a player he must be to have achieved it. And if you think Palmer has shown anything in his career up to date to prove he could do the same, not only are you seriously deluded, but God help us, we might as well pack up our bags for this clown show we're presenting to the world both as players and as media contributors representing this country and leave. Both our players and our media are clowns, but even more so our media and pundits. Peace and love

Rice has been OK to be honest, it's been the wing play. Saka and foden can't stretch the wing backs and saka cannot run at people with speed and intent. I think Palmer and Gordon on the wings rice, Bellingham and foden in the middle would work well. Saka goes backwards to often, foden clearly drifts into the middle of the park. Kane needs a delivery so not his fault.
