Man I'll happily take 3 to 5 seasons of getting into the CL and getting knocked out in the group stage, easing up the rest of the fixture list to be able to qualify again. It's all about catching up at least a bit financially, to eventually be able to put a squad and a club together to really compete.

You seem to want mega rich people using our clubs like toys, who have no link or connection to the club or the community. Who just come in and wipe away decades worth of failur over night and actually create a farmers league themselves by billions with no consequences. So how do you compete with them people?. When they run out of money and the club goes down to league one you’ll be stood there with an empty look on your face. Why would everyone love us to fail? It's exactly the same situation as Newcastle. The media see a new team that can realistically compete with the Sky 6 and they don't like it so they try and say everything they can to bring them down. Before today it was all "Villa wont be able to keep Emery if one of the big boys come knocking" and once that theory goes out the window it becomes "Villa wont be able to compete under Emery". It's laughable honestly. Let the results do the talking instead of your biases. I think becoming a team that consistently gets Champions League isn't realistic for any team, however fighting for it every season is. We are basically there already, if Emery was in charge for all of last season we may well have finished higher. But it means that every season we go into, we want to be challenging for those top 4 spots, not necessarily locking them down as I agree, that is exceptionally hard and in recent history only Man City have consistently done tht. This means finishing anywhere from 1-7th really and I think that is totally realistic, especially as, over the last 2 seasons, we have achieved that. With ManUre, Liverpool and Chelsea being far off it, why can't we?

I am tired of this "Villa is only in the top 4 because other teams are struggling" nonsense. Even if Villa "only" win 2 of the last 4 games that puts us on 72 points which is more then Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea got last season Spurs, Arsenal and United got in the 21/22 season Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal got in the 20/21 season United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal got in the 19/20 season And I could keep going. So lets not pretend that this is some one off season where the "Sky 6" are suddenly struggling. Facts say that every single season at least 3 of those don't get above 71 points. So that's what Villa have to do, get to 71 points and Champions league should be almost guaranteed, REGARDLESS of what the "sky 6" do. And as far as FFP goes, well I think the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Spurs have proven that just because you have the means of spending a lot and they have, that does not guarantee success on the pitch. All of those clubs have spent a lot more then Villa in the last 5 years especially when you consider 2/3 of Villa's spending was done in the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons, mostly out of necessity. So Villa getting top 4 is NOT predicated on what the "Sky 6" do but on what ASTON VILLA does, and believe me, You haven't seen anything yet. So up Unai Emery's Mighty ASTON VILLA and stop all this BS talk. UTV!

They said Chelsea would get better last season and they didn’t no team has a right to be in the the top 4 and Chelsea especially are in big financial trouble they will have to sell players before they can think about buying anyone. One of those big teams can fall it’s happened before and it probably will happen again why can’t a team like Villa or Newcastle be the one to take their place.

Yeah, we’ve took our time building it up in a sustainable manner and I don’t see them stopping there. This is no flash in the pan. Villa have already compounded expectations this season considering injuries and a minor European competition. To achieve what they have after Beale left Villa is extraordinary.

Villa were in danger of becoming a big club after they won the league and the European Cup in the 1980s with a young team. I was in Birmingham the day their chairman 'Deadly' Doug Ellis fired Ron Saunders the manager, Everybody agreed it was a mistake and the club has never recovered. Ellis held Villa back. They have a metropolitan population of around 4.3 million people and no significant local competition. If they are run properly they could become one of the biggest clubs in the country.

Idk, the only times I’ve seen villa struggle this season were with fatigue, a major injury in the match (eg Mings vs Newcastle), Robin Olsen in goal, or experimental formations (5-back vs spurs). Worth remembering too, Emery has done this with the bulk of players signed by Dean smith / Gerrard when we were bottom half. The captain was signed under Steve Bruce in the championship.

As a Villa fan I think the supporter base is far more realistic than Newcastle or Spurs. In reality a top half finish is decent given the competitive nature of the league and then push for the European places. In some exceptional years they will hopefully get CL football. Of course we have to keep in mind that Man Utd and Chelsea have been tepid at best this year and they will likely improve. Also there is some kind of conspiracy to keep Everton in the Prem and they will also do better at some point sadly. Throw in Newcastle, Spurs, Leeds, West Ham and other teams of similar size and finishing 4th every year becomes a tall order. Fingers crossed for this year!

But people were doubting Villa will be able to finish in the top 8 this year, with the Conference Lg schedule added. Even with the crazy amount of injuries, Unai and the team have proven they're top quality. If they can secure top 4, the additional funds and the bigger profile will help them improve their squad. I fully trust Unai at this point, there is not an ounce of reason to doubt him. UTV!

He came in last season inheriting a relegation threatened team and got them into Europe finishing 7th. This season adding in the signings of Diaby, Torres and Zaniolo(whilst losing three players to acl injuries)weve improved upon last season and are set to finish 4th plus in European semi final. Comparing us to West Ham pre season and now Newcastle for next if were in the Champions League.....Emery is not Moyes or Howe...hes managed a thousand games plus, success at multiple clubs, consistently acheived in Europe and the league.

I'm no villa fan but games like that (v olympiakos) make me seriously question watching the far from beautiful modern game. By huge contrast the two Champions League Semis were a pleasure to watch. The refs let the game flow, I didnt see the ref in the players faces once. Now I realise why - no English team in either. When theres an English team 1. sky's commentators wetting themselves when the opposition score and agreeing with every decision AGAINST the English side. 2. The referee never lets the game flow. The opposition dive and get in refs face. He reacts by getting in the English teams faces and booking over half the team (you couldnt make it up!) The pundits and commentators ignore it all and act like scared disloyal mice. 3. At the away leg - the English fans get 200 seats 250 feet up in the rafters behind screens and nets (you fans should boycott!). You know the FA will be backing this 100%. The unmanly behaviour of the players was disgusting. The disgraceful euro ref and var makes the English refs look semi competent. Certainly wont be watching the 2nd leg, which on doubt willl be bias on steroids. You so-called men are being laughed at, stop lying down and taking these insults, vote with your feet.

When the owners took over they wanted champs league in 5 years and we are on the verge hopefully. This team has barely begun, most of them started with us at a young age and are coming into their prime like Konsa, Luis, Watkins, mcginn. They are a great base to build from in the next stage. The youth set up is in good hands to as is the recruitment so it’s barely begun. The likes off united, Chelsea, Liverpool are in transition and you never know how that will go, the manager is crucial. If Pep goes then there are a fair few clubs that are knocking on the door. It could mean a level playing ground and as Unai is possibly one of the top 2 -3,managers in the league anything could happen. It could depend on what money we can generate as we grow although Unai seems to be a very good coach when given the raw materials not necessarily the already proven players.
