I was in the final 10-20; (can't fully remember the numbers) of this competition and I thank my lucky stars I wasn't shown in this stream. This was not for my vocal performance which was pretty decent, it was my dancing. Part of it was shown on This Morning a week or so later and I still turn crimson red that people I know witnessed it.

Pop Idol was managed by Simon Fuller, not Cowell. So the show still would've gone ahead and Gareth Gates would've won it.

Funnily enough, Andy also did Pop Idol a few years later

An insider said simon has already signed many of the artists on x factor and simply uses the competition to promote these acts to the public over 12 weeks. Usually, they are the ones who have a 'life story filmed'. The charade of putting people together to form a boy band or girl group is also a charade as it's been decided beforehand to do this

I wouldn't say a COMPLETE nobody. At this time Simon had already become rich and successful but he was not yet worldly known. It was because of his success in the music industry that he was chosen to judge this, as well as Pop Idol and American Idol which led to him becoming worldly known. This was also the year that Simon's father died. Simon has honored his father's memory by naming his son after him.

simon got a leg-in from jonathan king and hiscompany ...simon made first TV appearance on sale of the century and then dressed as a puppet on the Birdy song ....jimmy savile was very close with jonathan king ....and simon even bailed him out when jonathan got arrested!
