Not sure about 2 and 3, but i'm pretty sure you can use the module system to put parks next to each other to fill the empty spaces, as well as plant trees.

It does seem simplified. You don't lay out water pipes, you no longer have zone sizes, you can only zone next to roads, etc. It seems designed to be easier to play and more difficult to suck at.

I have no idea what settings there are, since the game has not been released in the UK yet. Put everything down to low, and slightly lower your resolution until it is playable. Are you using desktop, or a laptop?

Okay, I'm one of the fans of the SimCity franchise as a whole, I am also one of the skeptical people about this game. However, I'm prepared to get SimCity if they do just three things: 1. Allow players to fill in green spaces with plazas/concrete/parks when you can't fit a building there, to make it feel as if the land is being used properly. 2. Big maps (akin to SimCity 4, but not extremely "oh my god, size of Greater London" big) 3. Allow us to enable/disable certain songs and add our own.

Those are good points, but many things that weren't really problems in SC 4 are now harder to deal with in SimCity, such as traffic. In SC4 all you got was an advisor yelling at you for traffic, but now your whole city gets bogged down and stops functioning if you don't have a good transit system. It seems more like an easy to learn type of game IMO.

100% true in a a recent article it was revealed the DRM was part of the developers "Vision" for SimCity, EA went along with it.

I'm new to Arma bc of DayZ, but damn those screenshots I've seen of A3 look so nice! I'll be keeping an eye on it and see how the release goes.

I like Wright, he's looking at the game correctly, but what he will certainly realize soon enough (given his creativity and strategic background), there is not enough FREEDOM and POTENTIAL in the game. There should be NO limits.

I still remember seeing the original SimCity being demo'ed in a mall in Victoria on an Amiga. I played the original a lot and SimCity 2000 a lot, but next one I tried didn't seem as fun as the original. I might give this a try, but my time for games is limited.

Excellent new game, i love it, very addictive. Still having trouble with the gameplay quality though, i upgraded my graphics card to a 1Gig Radeon HD5450 which was recommended to me by someone, when you zoom in close to watch the sims and the cars etc. they all seem jerky, any tips would be cool. My computer is 5 or 6 years old. I'm running Windows Vista, AMD 64 X2 dual core processor 5000+, 3.00 GB memory.. Should I do any upgrades before I install this game or would I be fine with what I have???

Two and three were possible in the last iteration (discounting Societies), why can they not do these in the latest version? Sure, number 2 may be a little more difficult as the game is now in full 3D, but the current region system in this version of SimCity is pretty much the size of a normal map in SimCity 4, all they gotta do is allow people to play that map with no boundaries and put each map onto a new region system, I don't mind it being 2D as long as I can play it.

I get the feeling this is going to be a very casual social game, I wonder if the depth is still there, always online is always a bitch to deal with, and the city size might not matter if the game is deep, varied and has lots to offer! Well se waiting for reviews on this one!

They should make it to where you could walk and move in your own city as a sim basically combine sim city and sims 3

They don't bring up the DRM or social interaction in any of these, but they make a huge difference. I had no ROOM to build what i WANTED because i was too busy trying to make enough MONEY for the good looks. By the time i had enough money and my city was at the right level, i had already filled my entire tile.... What the hell? I say it should be high quantity AND quality: i shouldn't have to see a piece of land outside my city on a nice river flow that i absolute CANNOT touch...

I think it looks like a big traffic jam on all the roads at all times. Should be possible to restrict the number of cars per inhabitant so you could lower the number of cars in the city. The fire also seems a bit "out" as in most of the SimCity games. Spreads to fast kind of illogical. But I'm most likely gonna waste some hours on this as well :)

Funny how the words "MMO or multiplayer" were never mentioned. Even more strange for a game that EA says was always, from the beginning a "MMO". Seemed to me Will had a shit load of fun playing and managing his city all by himself in a single player-esque setting.... If only the rest of us could have been so lucky....

I did prepurchaseXD... And yes its amazing, for 25 euro on steam you get Arma 3 when it releases, an alpha right now with a madeditor, mp and some sp scenarios... And let me tell you this its Amazing... The funny part is the alpha does only contain one of the smaller islands (its huge even though its the smallest or one of them) thats 15% of the world, then we dont have heavy veicles but still Im more entertained by the alpha than may fullblown AAA games today!

Are you sure the notice didn't say it was optimised for Windows 8? The specs say it is compatiable with Windows XP/Vista/7/8, but it is recommended you have 7/8. Have you tried lowering your resolution? Is your monitor set to 1920x1080? If it is, lower the in game setting to 1280x720. Or go down to 1024x728. If you must, set it to 800x600. Also, what is your GPU?

Also, I don't see what the problem is with huge area to build your city on. Anyone who want a small city can just build that. No one forces you to use the whole area. But if the area is small, the option to build a big city does not exist for those who does.

I know what you mean....I got it too. :) It is pretty amazing for an alpha. So far I haven't had any problems with getting into the main parts of the game. Only issue is it crashes when I try to spawn into a Wasteland mod. Put it this way...I've got more time logged into A3 than SimCity. lol

I played the beta, too, and I know that it's a simplified game that, in my eyes, isn't challenging or complex enough. I was hoping for SimCity 4 in 3D with a few new features like curved roads. Instead, they dumbed down several parts of the game to make it appeal to a broader audience. Not cool. Having smaller cities certainly doesn't help matters.

I'm not hating because of the region size, and I agree the simulation seems to be greater.. it just would have been freaking awesome for Will to have said the cities are too small in his opinion.. as soon as he started justifying it you know he's just saying what marketing tells him to say... I'm tired of hearing excuses. Watch will find out the region sizes are smaller because they intended all along for this to work with a PS4 move or some BS. :)

Actually EA took out offline mode with out maxis's permission, that's why maxis is now taking part in all ea's decisions in any games that involve maxis.

honestly, i'm going to buy this game as soon as - but only if - the always-on function is removed. i really hated it in anno 2070, i got frustrated at diablo 3, and there will be no third time i buy something i don't own and can't play when or where i want!

EA pays Will to market the product and get a new slogan: "Building cities was a fad. Managing a small village, to keep it financially afloat, THATS the new sh!t"

No I didnt, only read previews and tried to watch videos. I adore the series as a whole and as I said on another video, if the gameplay is top notch and as you say the game has that depth I love, the smaller size wont matter! My only real quirk is the drm... I know, but I have had a very bad experince with the otherwise fun game D3... but the Always online Drm really punished me for trying to play the god damn gameXD Thats why I probably pick this up little later, so I can read about problems!

The citys are smaller but you have multi city play, so you can manage lots of different citys, stop moaning people its going to be awesome lots of depth to it

Listen to the LIES of the lead developer - he feigns the idea of having "an emotional attachment to the sims" (3:34) feeding people the idea that the sims have a motive in the game itself. He should know of all people how faceless these sims are particularly how close this is to release. Consumers need to be able to complain about developers that lie about their product prior to release or fake screenshots/in-game video (see Rome 2: Total War)

Yes do so... I can tell you for a fact its gonna be buggy, Bohemia the developer their games always need lots of polish and patching before they are in somewaht good shape... But the core experience mil sim its unchallanged! Its gonna be a blast to play.. Hopefully they riddle out as many gamebreaking bugs in the alpha as possible. I migh tpick it up on release date if reviewers havent had so much problems with bugs!

Im not gonna pre purchase I adore arma but Bohemia have never really released well functioning games at launch, always buggy, messy. Im gonna wait on that one until the few first patches... But believe me its on my mind too, It might be the best game of this year... it just might! Well exept maybe Bioshock, or GTA 5 or rome 2... god dammit the amount of godly games this year haha!

I got the joke, haha! I didnt buy Simcity not because server issues or so... Just because Im not interested in small cities and social interactions, call med old school in this regard. I know Simcity above here is a very deep simulator perhaps moore so than previos installements. Its overshadowed by DRM (always online), small citites social interactions. Regarding Arma 3 yes Im having blast, I have though mostly been doing these standard survive stratis missions adn the other night time ones!

I was one of the stupid guys who fell on that false advertising for COlonial Marines, add the horrible experince I have had partly from D3s always online (I like the game its fluid and fun but lots of bad design choiches in that one), I wanna read what problems do the game suffer in thx from the Always online and other problems it might have. The game looks good, but im still worried that smaller size and always on drm will hinder my experience rather than enchance it

Having smaller plots doesn't get you into the simulation any quick, it just restricts you in the long run. Its the only disappointment this game has even from playing the one hour beta.
