    Good idea for a new series. If you're taking sugestions, you might look at lift and coast before the breaking zones and when you might want to use it. Following another car closely, driving in a pack, fuel saving, etc..

    As you are taking suggestions - a down shifting video would be good. I.e. speed of down shifting for different cars or corners. Taking an extra gear at the apex to help rotation.

    Great idea for a series Dave. Being still fairly new to iRacing tips and tricks to help become better in the sim is most helpful. I have always wondered what the bias % should be. Different games I have played in the past have different ways of handling it with some being a higher % being more to rear etc. So to know how it is applied in iRacing will certainly help. Interesting that you have it closer to 50% but I guess it depends on the braking capabilities of each car but I will definitely have more of a play around with it in each car to see what is ideal for them all and then fine tune per track.

    I would love some tips on how you go about racing very close to other cars. For example, one of my big problems is when I'm right behind someone going into a braking zone. They reach the braking point first, and sometimes brake harder than I do, which causes me to react by braking harder or in some cases tapping their bumper.

    Thanks Dave, great idea!!!! Two questions, 1) any thoughts on differences between front engine and mid/rear engine in regards to brake bias? On mid/rear engine cars, I tend to use much more rear brake (48-52) but on front end, I tend to run more front (52-58). 2) I rarely change bb mid race, but i know that costs me some time....I run in VR and it's tough to be able to get it dialed in from the wheel.....did you make macro's (honestly, this may be a dumb question....I dont know if you can macro bb changes) to do a quick switch, or do you just roll it to each setting?

    I am still looking for a good brake bias video. I have seen several ones and I picked up pieces of knowledge from them, but I am yet to find one, where it really makes sense for me. This one is a bit too brief for me to paint a good picture on how it actualy works. Good idea though as in AC this is one of the few things that you are allowed to change on the fly in wider range of cars. I know what to do with TC, but brake bias is still a bit too abstract for me to really know how to differentiate the feel of its effects from other stuff.

  • @davecamm

    Not one setting works for everyone. It's all about how you feel when driving and how smooth your inputs are. Just do some practice, and use 55% bias then move it back to 50% that should give you a good indication as to what it feels like. More trail braking, the higher the number 😁

  • @eviliso

    Good to talk about BBias, because a lot of people dont use it at all, but dont give people bad habits to change it a lot during the race, we dont change it per corner. You need to find one steady BBias for the lap and during the race You steadily increase/decrease it, because of burned fuel and changed car balance; or to fix bad habits while braking and cooking tyres.

    @@davecamm Its not about me, its about the message you are sending to others. Im very happy that you trying to educate the community, dont get me wrong. But I dont like the one important part of it. If we take for example Max B. or other top iRacing drivers, they never change BBias per corner basis. First of all it removes focus from driving for drivers who needs to understand it, second it doesnt solve bad driving habits, just hides it. I just dont want You to accidently encourage people to have other bad habits. But please do speak about BBias, I think you had already a better video about it.

  • @davecamm

    @davecamm

    Жыл бұрын

    I talked about me making one adjustment per lap at Daytona for obvious reasons. Some drivers do make multiple changes per lap. Just because max doesn't doesn't make it wrong. People will do what they are comfortable with, multiple changes or set and forget. This is all about letting people know what it does and try it out in practice.

    Thx for the tips, at 1:14 you're saying that with the porsche on a long straight braking zone you would even go to 48% bb and stating that with more load on the front tires it would balance itself. I'm not sure it would work this way, in my mind while breaking the rear will lift and loose some load on the tires therefore if you have more breaking power on the rear you would lock up earlier while the front tires could probably take more breaking power because of the weight balance during breaking. Am I right thinking that or is there something else I'm not seing ? (Maybe because it's a rear engine car then the balance is right ?)

  • @davecamm

    @davecamm

    Жыл бұрын

    It doesn't balance itself, I was trying to simplify. Meaning the front will still compress due to the heavy braking but not as much as the bias is rearward.

    Can you show us how you are using it exacly. I am wondering where do you set it on your sterring wheel?

    Good idea Dave. Maybe show a few onboard examples of the brake bios being set well and not so well would help to see it working.

    This is ridiculous, never thought about it, just amended brake bias during a lap and I'm up per lap! Tried Hockenheim and was able to brake that much later! 0.4 quicker on a single lap than compared to my normal style.
