You can use the sharp 90° spine of any silky to strike a ferocerium rod, process kindling, shave wood for wood crafts, you can even use the top of the spine in the closed position to carve spoons and other concavities. The high carbon steel can even be used as a fire striker for flint and steel. Plus, the ease of use for changing out blades makes it the most versatile woodcraft and bushcraft saw on the market today, in my experience.

Silky saws are designed to cut on the rip back not the push forward. Prevents possible damage bending blade if you fetch up. Put your energy in the pull back when cutting something. Love my Silky Gomboy!
@taitsmith8521
Ай бұрын
Both of these saws are pull saws. There are no curved push saws. But, the handle on the Corona was meant for an English style push saw, which is dumb in my opinion.
@brookelord344818 күн бұрын
The handle is more important. A bow saw would actually take less cubic inches than either saw. It can be hung from the outside of the pack if necessary. Most importantly, you can use 2 hands so you can always cut faster or for a longer period of time. A folding saw handle is the worst to use or even hold. It's not great for the wrist.

Corona also makes a couple saws that fold like this.
If you spray Lysol on the blade, helps it with the dull Problem.
I used to have a folding saw like that. Loved it. Idk what ever happened to it. Prolly left it in the woods considering I can't find it.
You make great content keep doing don’t give up
Apples to Apples is the only true Study o Confirmation ❤
Only 98 strokes? Those are some rookie numbers!
I remember a year ago now I snapped one of these cutting a birch tree for a heli pad. So somewhere in northern Alberta Canada there’s the tip of a Silky Boy saw blade in a birch

it's famous
The Warriors from Hammerfell approve of the curved blade.
Running with the bigboy
Would be interested to see this comparison with a new coronavirus
I have the folding corona saw, ive had it for a while but i also have the smaller version too the cuts like butter like my older one use too. Im definitely im a corona fanboy for sure but id love to get a silky saw
I have a gomboy. Great saws. But they are meant for younger, green wood more than dried, fat logs, although as you can see they handle that just fine as well.
I would be happy with either one
They’re worth every penny
I like the CORONA saw much better.
Corona has a model that is like the silky big boy
That my boy is a Saw Cleaver from bloodborne
I love my big boy i keep it in a black tube sock keeps the sharp edges from scratching my pack and shavings out of my bag
Bigger teeth+ brand new. I've gone through a couple coronas. They're crazy sharp for 6 to 8 months, I guess it depends on how long it stays sharp.

they both dull around the same rate and use the same impulse hardened steel
They're also a whole lot more delicate and expensive. I'll take a bow saw frame and a couple blades rolled in a tin over these any day. Thin pull saws are great in the shop but most important thing in the bush imo is reliability.
Get the katana silky Saw it's a manual chain saw
There's a studly guy. He looks at the camera while folding his sharp saw. 😮
I may not only one but that's okay he has high recommendations by a lot of operators and campers and survivalists..
It must’ve taken lumberjacks so long to cut down a tree before chainsaws

Depends on the thickness of the tree. One foot diameter, two minutes. I don't know about anything else though.
79 strokes and 53 seconds. Sound familiair.
I have a smaller silky, best tool I ever used in the field.
this orange saw can used with 2 hands so it has more power
Work fast have the silky bind up and the blade will shatter had one snap and fly right into my leg and cut me open
Thats alot of big boy stokes. Ive been there.
I have a kind of unrelated question. What dehydrator do you use and if it is expensive, what other dehydrators can you recommend? I love fruit leather and dried fruit in general and plan on using it to replace sweets in my nutrition.
To all this im wondering how do you sharpen a saw? 🪚

With a saw-sharpener.

You take a file and individually sharpen each tooth. It takes a while. I’ve never done it before so look up a tutorial but I know what to do.
I recommend Coronas unless you’re going to be an avid outdoorsman. The performance to a novice isn’t going to justify the cost. Also, until they get more experienced and organized, having stuff that you aren’t going to panic over losing is important
😂you must have got the silky on black Friday or something
Silky saws are designed to cut on the rip back not the push forward. Prevents possible damage bending blade if you fetch up. Put your energy in the pull back when cutting something. Love my Silky Gomboy!

Both of these saws are pull saws. There are no curved push saws. But, the handle on the Corona was meant for an English style push saw, which is dumb in my opinion.
I love my silky!
Personally, I don’t like curved blades. They make it hard to cut precise notches
They sound like both equal; size being the issue for the consumer to decide upon.
What's that guard your using on the corona blade? Is it just a chainsaw scabbard? I've got a similar set up on my corona saw using it's original package but that looks much more durable.
I'm not sure I'd use these without gloves.
Weight is the main factor for me
2 handed vs 1 handed is a huuuuuge difference
To have used the other one for a year it didn't do bad at all really. And $83 isn't a fair price. MAYBE $40 if it comes with at least a 1yr warranty imo. ❤
Wow! If you only buy a new saw at triple the price, you can save 14 seconds! Time is limited when you're sitting in camp.
Corona is always going to be at a disadvantage compared to survival saws. Because one is meant to do yard work, while the other one is literally meant to be able to use to build shelters and shit. It’s a no brainer which one is better for the specific purpose.
Love my silky
The silky 390 zubat is my favourite.
Novel idea. Sharpen the Corona.
Careful it will bite you at some point
Corona has a foldable blade like that yellow saw.
Hey Sir. What about a good axe for your backpack you can use anytime everyday?
And how do they compare to a bow saw with a brand new, good quality blade?
Just buy a Corona folding saw, muchhhh cheaper than the Silky. It will impress you with how quick it cuts through wood by the way.
Are these saws impulse hardened or are they hand sharpenable
Silky is cute!💕
$83 They saw you coming.
1. Question... How long does it last compared to the Price/Saws?
Comparing an old saw blade to a new one eh? Okay... Whatever... Not like we can't guess ahead of time which one cuts better.
I would call them equal in all due time
Nice pocket knife u got there
Damn usually im done in 5 strokes 😅😅😅
It looked harder to keep push-pulling, with the more expensive one. Cos of the angle of handle. 😁🌏☮️

@@claudiaarjangi4914stop talking and go saw something. I use one of these literally, every day.
Corona also has folding saws. I've got a 10-inch folding saw, which is very, very good.
The corona cuts better and faster, lasts longer too compared to silky. (Corona folding saws anyway)
I'm an Arborist that uses a silky. And it's because it's a "Silky". Ask all my Silky scars how I know. can't beat a Silky!
