    The correct bleeding method with most VW group cars requires VCDS and an automated bleeding process! If you look up the “fix it with Jon” KZread channel he has done one showing all the details of the VCDS functions to use the proper process to do a full engine and low pressure bleeding procedures for VAG group cars. Having got a small leak on my Skoda Superb 3 1.4 TSI 2017 from the water pump I will be fully draining mine to replace the pump assembly/ manifold and following this process to replace the G13 with G12 evo coolant and bleed the system fully using VCDS as I have this already. Near Sleaford Lincs if anyone needs a hand to bleed their properly! Cheers Ian.

    The silva bag on my seat Leon has blown and contaminated everything including the heater matrix. What is the best way to clean out the system?

    I’m sorry to hear that mate, it will need a complete flush and replace or clean the heater matrix. I think there might be some videos on here to help if you’re planning to do it yourself.

    Hey . I do almost everything on mine 1.6tdi DDYA , the first thing that I did when I got in 2020 was replacing the coolant and remove the silica bag (changing for a new expansion tank as mine bag was inside the inner wall like yours. You just opened the charge air cooler (aftercooler and not intercooler) circuit in the video but you could open the circuit on the main circuit on the big radiator and near the rear pump (closest to the driveshaft), you can use a compressor to help you geting coolant out by blowing air in the heater inlet . The G13 has some glicerine in it but the major part is still mono etilene glicol .. any coolant should be changed every 48months \ 60k KM

    Hi mate I’ve got the coolant issue, need a new heater matrix. Nightmare! They want to charge me £550. Gunna try to replace it myself. It’s weird the coolant is slowly leaking garage can’t figure it out where it’s leaking. Think this is a common issue too?

    I wanted to replace my g13 with g12evo today but the mechanic only managed to drain the same 2 litres. How to drain the whole 6-6.5 litres ?

    Hi, sorry for the late reply. In order to do a complete flush it’s quite labour intensive as various different circuits need to be disconnected to drain. The egr cooler, intercooler and radiator need to be drained separately I believe. Haven’t needed to do it myself fortunately. Has your silica bag split?

    @sasasaran2210 it’s best to use what’s recommended by the manufacturer as they have different corrosion inhibitors depending on what metals the engine is made from.

    DId you get the rest of the 2L of coolant to go in after you drove the car a bit? I'm thinking of just changing out the coolant in the reservoir, so as to avoid any chance of trapping air. I would either do it repeatedly, or maybe just do it once every 5k miles along with my oil change. That would be enough to keep the protection going.

  • @TurnersWorkshop97

    @TurnersWorkshop97

    4 ай бұрын

    I thought about doing the same myself and would say it’s a good option if you didn’t want to drain the 2L out. It does go back in but takes some time and you have to keep checking the levels.

    Thanks for the video, I have a question, I’ve got a 2015 golf GTD and it still has about 1.5 years of approved used warranty left, do you think it’s best to leave the silica bag in until at least my warranty is up?

    Watching the video, I saw that you only got 2 liters out by pulling that hose. 2 liters is not even half of the coolant for sure. Or how many liters does it contain more specifically?

    Hi, thanks for your comment. The Haynes manual says that it could be up to 8litres approximately. Seems too much based on what I took out. I would say more like 4litres.

    Hi, the NOTE says: The GEN III EA288 TDI (MY2015 2.0L TDI CVCA and CRUA) MUST still use G13 coolant. My engine code is CRLB, this is compatible with G12evo? Why U.S. only, also valid for Europe? Thanks!

  • @TurnersWorkshop97

    @TurnersWorkshop97

    That is a US document so not sure if it applies to the EU. I have asked the questions to VW and haven’t had a response yet. I will update if I find out any more. To be safe I’ve used the G13 for my car. That’s what came in it from factory anyway so it won’t likely cause damage. Whereas if the g12evo isn’t approved for this particular engine like it suggests in that document it may cause problems later on down the road.

    If you check out the links for the coolant it will tell you there if it’s compatible with your car 😊 I included a technical bulletin in the video I found online that suggests the g12evo can’t be used in the 2015 2.0TDI EA288 genIII CVCA & CRUA engines. That is a US document so not sure if it applies to the EU. I have asked the questions to VW and haven’t had a response yet. Will update if anything changes but to be safe I’ve used the G13 for my car.

    I removed my bag a couple of months ago, and somebody wrote me than I now MUST change my coolant to the updated version EVO. But how can I know if I "MUST" do that? I mean, the stuff in the coolant cannot really go anywhere, is not burnt away, or get's eaten up in some other way. What problems might I run into if I try to change the coolant? How to proprely flush the system first? You did a partial change/flush I know.@@TurnersWorkshop97

    I will get my coolant changed at a local Audi dealership soon. Ít's gonna cost me $300 but what the hell. Since I removed the bag I need to do it and the car is also almost 10 years old with 136.000 km on the clock.@@TurnersWorkshop97
