The closest anyone will ever get to meeting a silent film star is visiting their grave... Thank you for making this tribute.
R.I.P baby Peggy , with her death the final chapter of the silent era has been closed . Ironic how she died in 2020. The start of the new 1920s😭😭
So incredibly sad how talent like this no longer exists.
Ahhhhhh Hollywoods hey day! The men were handsome, and the women, beautiful. Their eyes were so haunting...some were so sad...thank for a beautiful tribute!
I miss this form of entertainment so much. People today don't have a clue what they are missing by dismissing the films and film stars of the past just because they are no longer with us.
I have visited many of their graves. Still in awe. RIP.

Bebe Daniels' ashes were originally placed in her Mother's grave at a cemetery in London, but are now at niche 7-8, tier 3, second floor, North wall, Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Hollywood, along with those of her husband Ben Lyon, who took her ashes back to Hollywood when he left England.
I know you posted this nearly 10 years ago, but there is a channel called Hollywood Graveyard that visits cemeteries and gives fascinating little bios on everyone buried in the cemetery they're visiting. You clearly have a fantastic knowledge of this topic, and the show is preparing to visit New York - venturing out of California for the first time. Perhaps you guys could collaborate in some way!
D.W. Griffith is buried about 15 yards from my best friend in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, just 25 miles east of here (Louisville, KY). He has a very nice gravesite as befitting another great pioneer of not just silent movies but movies for all time.
Lillian Gish is still remembered to this day in her hometown of Massillon, Ohio - a short road that connects Ohio Route 172 to Ohio Route 21 is named Lillian Gish Boulevard. There is also a small stone block structure (I don't know what it actually is) that has two paintings of her on it - one side features a scene from 'The Scarlet Letter', and the other has her portrait with her birth (1893) and death (1993) years next to it. She may be gone, but Massillon certainly hasn't forgotten her!

Beautiful music along with the tributes to these legends. We owe them so much respect for all they’ve done. We would not have the movies today without them. I hope they are never forgotten. RIP to all of them.

Almost every lady here had that look of sweet vulnerable innocence. I was defiantly born way to late in time.
Lon Chaney was the Original Phantom of The Opera. I just thought I'd mention that. I love The Phantom!
Beautiful video. Many of these stars are forgotten...but not by classic film fans. Thank you! Good job!
Thank you for putting Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell together. I get the impression that they'd have liked that.

They will live forever in our hearts, then our children's hearts, ... forever Special thanks for Janet & Charles together in this tribute
One of the most, if not THE most, sensitive, informative and well done tributes to past actors/actresses.
There will never be stars like this .... RIP
Rich or poor..famous or ordinary....no one gets out alive..we all must meet our end.
Beautiful video! Not just informative, but with the music, photos and information provided, we realize that they lived full lives. This video captures all the emotion and makes us think about what they were really like. Lovely.
A sublime presentation! There is something about the photography in that era that made not only actresses and actors look ethereal, but even one's own grandmother and everyone in between.
beautiful tribute to a age gone by, and to the people who enriched our lives on the silver screen
it is sad, but it lives on with all of us who get to see and appreciate it
I love the silents. God bless them all. Thank you for this wonderful tribute.
all of them hollywood legends forever.
So glad to see this video. It was very beautiful and sad. It makes me sad that a lot of people today will never see these beautiful faces on a screen.
Beautiful, tasteful and respectful tribute! I've always preferred silent movies to "talkies" and such a shame that talented people like them are in such small numbers today.
This was beautifully done...
Beautiful - just beautiful ...like so many of these stars from the past. So tasteful and respectful with no sense of morbidity - thank you so much for making this. p.s. I can't resist saying I also loved how you showed Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton right at the first, my second and first favorite silent movie stars respectively. :-)
Very well done! For those who have not seen the movie "The Artist", I recommend it highly. Excellent movie, and it was silent! "We had FACES.."-Norma Desmond..
This is so moving. RIP to all in this video. I especially love the very beautiful Rudolph Valentino...
Beautiful, thank you for posting. Rest in Peace to you All.
Thank you for sharing this! Maybe more people will get to see and appreciate these wonderful actors!
Very classy production, well done. I wish I had a time machine.

This was excellent. I think you did a wonderful job of photos and gravestones. Well done!
Very well made tribute. Thanks for making it. :)
Even though we never heard these people's voices.just by looking at them....you could feel so much :c
I love the way they listed the actors, dates and causes of their passing, great job on that! Thanks for the memories!
Thank you for remembering them in such a beautiful way.
Thank you for this beautiful tribute. They are gone but never forgotten.
Thank you...very beautifully done...please make another there are so many more who could be remembered...early talkie stars , too
That was a magnificent memorial to the greatest actors & actresses of all time. Beautifully haunting and saddening. It definitely brought a tear to my eye...
Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord , and let perpetual light shine upon them may their souls , and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace Amen.
beautiful and respectful. They were a part of an extraordinary era in film, your homage to their memory was heartfelt, to say the least. Thank you.
I find this video both calming and thought-provoking. As for me, toss my ashes to the wind on a, windy, sunny, summer day from a grassy hilltop overlooking the countryside in southern Indiana.
beautifully done ! they were all so special ! I wish it went a little slower , as to have a bit more time but , still a very good job !

Well done! Coulda been a touch slower, but a great list, and presented in such a way that the information was given clearly and concisely. Thank you for posting this.
What a wonderful testament to those great times with the start of a great era in the movie industry! Superbly presented with very suitable music. Bravo!
Thank you very much for putting this beautiful tribute up for the wonderful actors from the silent era that started it all. :)
Legends like this will live forever....RIP
Please don't say that. Whatever is hurting you will go away. You are so young and have so much to look forward to no matter what you are living in the present be it good or bad. Remember that after the rain the sun shines with a beautiful rainbow.
It's a wonderful video and some of these deaths could be made into a movie like Robert Harron's death or John Bowers. Also, some lived such chaotic lives that it seemed they died very old but not really at all like Charles Ray..living life too full wears the soul out.
Very nice. Thank you for taking the time of putting this together. Nice to put faces with the names I have heard about. Thanks again!
Robert harron has been dead almost 100 years he was a good actor sad he died so young his parents must have been devastated
History is such a strange and mysterious thing...
how did buster never get an Oscar
Makes me sad that people have to grow old and die. Give us these people back in their prime. Silent era was such a long time ago. These photos are haunting. I wonder what these people were like. I really hope they had a happy life.

Most (over 75%) of all silent films made are lost forever and of those that exist, will also be lost if not properly stored and handled. That said, there are a few hundred silent films that have been released on DVD and Blu-Ray, so I guess these will be available to future generations for viewing, albeit a very selective group they will be.

@@gloriahanes6490 Yes I'm scouring YT for various films. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, I bought about 45 to 50 silent films on DVD, released by Warner Archives. I was really miffed when I later discovered these are ALL DVD-R, meaning the discs will probably deteriorate in my lifetime! So now, I'm looking to make some backups and one source is YT.
Simply lovely.
Very well done! Thank you for all the research that went into this.
I live in Los Angeles but I’ve only heard of 3 of these actors. Interesting to know about them and how they passed.
Beautifully put together. Music is perfect for your perfect tribute, well done you!! It brought a tear to my eyes.
while BeBe danials was cremated here in London--her ashes were returned to the States
Gloria Swanson was, is and always will be my favorite.
I love the films of the silent era.
Thank you for the respect shown to those pictured here. How apropriate that silent stars are honored without a spoken word. I'd like to recommend "SIlent Star" by Colleen Moore and "Vamp--the Rise and Fall of Theda Bara" by Eve Golden, two stars who could handle fame and live long, positive lives. Louise Brooks wrote the excellent "Lulu in Hollywood". Glad to see Louise Brooks next to Clara Bow whom she admired and praised as an actress in both the spoken and written word.
This was very lovely and sad. I wish It were slower because I want to read everything. More please!

Not sure if anyone else made a comment about the Barrymore's, just in case though, John , Lionel, and their sister Ethel were born in my hometown of Philadelphia Pa. They lived for a time on Arch St. There is a hotel in Philadelphia called the Hyatt that had " The Ethel Barrymore" room. Also John was buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery initially, but some years later his remains were moved to a California cemetery. I'm sure everyone knows that he is actress Drew Barrymore's grandfather.

rockisheaven I had been watching more silent films and Golden age Hollywood films recently too. I have always been fascinated with them and the actors/actresses and the history behind it. Such a different time period. Stars like Charlie Chaplin, Lon Chaney, Gloria Stuart and Fay Wray only come once a lifetime and it does sadden me to be aware of that. How would a simple conversation be with them...to me, it also serves as a reminder to try and not take people and life for granted. Especially our loved ones. I'm 23 and I wish fellow millennials would be as open and engaging to appreciating such films. Damn, now I'M bummed out.

Garbo is buried in Sweden in the same cemetery as her mother, father and sister. It is called Skogskyrkogarden and it is about 15 minutes outside of Stockholm. (Not Woodlawn.) She was cremated years before her ashes were finally buried, so says her family who wanted to protect her remains from pillagers. (Charlie Chaplin's body was dug up and held for ransom in Switzerland, so their thinking wasn't that outlandish.) She has a beautiful marker, simple and elegant with her signature.
At the same time, that's sad and interesting. Video edition is very good.
