Would you be able to come up with a way to make a suite-case-style cases? They are similar to the portable computers of the 80’s, only with 1440p HD screens. They are for people who need workstations stronger than laptops while on the go and gamers who spend months on-the-road for work. Cutting holes for fans hurts waterproofing, so fanless would be great. They are also sometimes called Pelican case PCs, or “cyberdecks”.

I am the owner of this server. Let me explain the 32-core, 24-core question. In anandtech's article, the server had an EPYC 7551(first generation EPYC, 32core, 180W), after that article, we update the CPU to EPYC7402p (second generation EPYC, 24core, 180W) and buy some PCIE cards, then send it (without further test) to LTT. That's the reason why we do not find a toasty network card in the initial review article. See anandtech's article for details about the 32 core system(Power outside, only have CPU and GPU, without PCIE cards). I will make my own review for the 24-core system.

The whole thing is like this. The owner of this server bought this case from me. The other parts were sent to me to install a whole server. Because he is a fan of Linus, so he agreed to lend LTT to make an interesting video. My previous test did not install this hot network card. In the system stability test, it was fully loaded for 60 hours. The M2 SSD used at the time was also fitted with a good passive heat sink. This network card was purchased by the buyer of this case and sent to me before I send to LTT. If he chooses a network card with bad cooling design, it's not my problem, because I am only the supplier of the case. Service and modification are just mutual help between hardware players. Because buyers of this server will not have such a high load in his real useage,so the configuration is more aggressive to pursue higher transient burst performance.

Well on the upside there are a lot parts and systems on the market now that are basically silent yet still use fans. If you use large fans or multiple fans you can run lower rpms and move the same amount of air. My 3900x with a 2070 super in an 011 dynamic case with an AIO makes almost no noise unless I am benchmarking it or something.

Now if I am running stress tests or rendering video or something intensive they will but they never really hit 100 percent very often and are not all that loud. And if they do it is for less than a minute. Now when it boots up they rev up for second or two and it sounds like a remote control airplane lol. Rarely happens when I am using it though. You can't measure metal with IR heat/thermal imaging sensors. The emissivity of the material is way too different in order to let you get accurate readings. And that doesn't mean "off by 15c", it can mean off by hundreds of degrees. I very much doubt that network card was at 120c+, and the ssd certainly wasn't at 80c+. Don't kid yourself into thinking you can calibrate it to reflective metal either, because you can't. Either use a probe type thermometer, or use software readings. Or put an adhesive (e.g. black tape) where you want to measure, then measure that instead of the surrounding area, so long as your emissivity is calibrated it will be the same temperature as whatever it's stuck to.

Usually i complain about that, but LTT seems to usually do a good job using thermal imaging. This time when they measured the fins, it was between them, so there was multiple reflections of the other fins which makes the reading quiet accurate (one of the best way to measure with thermal imaging on metal is a hole). The network card could only reflect the motherboard at that angle, which is plastic (mostly), and i doubt anything in the whole room was above 100C anyway.

In a system like that, I think it would have been a good idea to just install a PSU with a large slow fan so that you had some movement of air within the case for all the components that rely on convection cooling within the case. Otherwise, that system may suffer an early grave if left under heavy load often due to accelerated capacitor aging.

Somebody needs to make one of these passive cases and _custom_ _heat_ _pipes._ Sure, having to receive and assemble your build before finalizing heat pipe dimensions takes time, but imagine if you could slap a pipe on every significant generator of heat in the system. Sharing the massive heat sinks with more components would raise the temps on the primary components a little, but I don't think it'd be enough to really matter. Wish the first passive case you guys tested was around and available for purchase. The flexible connectors did a great job, but I've never seen anything like them anywhere else.

This looks like a PC case I’d buy to put into a super high end home theater. The chassis reminds me of very high end monoblock amplifiers.
