I love the seemingly effortless techniques that he is teaching..I would love to study silat under this gentleman...He just flows..
i have been training with weapons for 18 years by now, and have been a capoeira instrutor for 3 years, and for quite a few years i have been widely acknowledged and used as a reference because of my understanding for combat and skill level. however, when i went to one of his 3 day seminars i realized something very important, that i was futile in comparison.. it is such a enormously humbling experience to absorb his knowledge and teachings.

The oldest inscription found in the Phillpines is in Malay+Sanskrit and they still share a lot of vocabulary, ie. Filipinos are part of the Greater Malay family.
These are the best close quarters fighting techniques I think I have seen. I'm looking forward to spending time practicing with some teachers.
Great movements, some of the best knife fighting techniques I have seen

For the life of me wrapping my brain around the foot entries is beyond me.

He usually performs a deflection prior to his step entry, it places his attacker in such a way that Maul can easily flank him with cuts, strikes, throws, and sweeps. You probably asked one of the better questions that could have been asked about this video.. lol props
@G.FosterWildWolf

Basically Maul clears the opponent's arms from the "Frontline" (using a closed fist and forearm or openhanded) pushes to the side and then from there (an exposed flank) Maul executes techniques that neutralize the opponent. Oh and his Joint locks and throws are DEFINETLY worth studying. Maul "Genius" Mornie!

@Fisticuffs Guilde the reference would make more sense with a melee weapon. You will see step through attacks with swords and the like. Also, from what I've seen, if a person is unarmed and stepping through, the strike is usually circular like a hook or a haymaker. The stepping straight arm strike does not seem to be used in real life. There is no need for its reference.
GREETINGS TO U MR MAUL I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS & DREAM OF BECOMING A POTENTIAL LIFETIME STUDENT ONE DAY! I LIVE IN THE DETROIT MICHIGAN METRO AREA.. USA! DO U HAVE ANY SCHOOLS OR INSTRUCTORS LOCATED IN MY AREA?? "MABUHAY!"

Here is my fb name paul sentones I want more from your video. Im not good in martial arts even I dont know how to defense my self master.
silat is the best martial art in the `world
what I don't understand about this is no one thrusts knives like this in real situations - I wouldn't any way - also people don't punch the way you want them to - they may attack the way YOU do.
@Maul565

What you dont seem to understand is that this isn't a real fight. Its a teaching scenario and a demonstration of the topic that was covered in a 2 days (12hrs) seminar. This video is not meant to teach YOU or convince YOU of anything. YOU are just a random guy on KZread. People came to learn this art. I am invited to share this art, not to teach what everybody else is doing. If people wanted to learn what you do, they would invite you, but no, they invited ME. So yes people attack me the way I tell them to, because it's MY seminar, and they want to learn MY art.

@@Maul565 Maul very rarely gets angry😅 Don't worry maul we know how knives work
The thrust is superior to the cut. I'd like to see techniques that revolve around the thrust.
The art looks great to watch but in reality it doesnt work because a trained fight attacks with body mass and these moves wouldn't take place.Also there is no power what so ever in this art form its all just techniques and movement.

@@zamolxezamolxe8131 I dont need to attend a seminar to see that this material takes on body mass and the young instructor only teaches techniques...techniques don't win in a real fight. A natural boxer with one years training would destroy this. No on that is trained in fighting will ever allow such time consuming drills to be performed on an open arm position. When people fight their arms are closed up. None of this would happen in real life. Since the UFC was started they have had fighters in this type of art form in the ring and they all got chocked out.Same old same old...Individuals like this young guy are nice people but in reality pseudo warriors..
