How to use Bruneian Silat's Tarikan Tenaga (Internal Energy Cultivation) to switch on the body's natural armor.
The Art of Baiting in Bruneian Martial Art. Watch in HD.
We train this ability so that we can take the full direct hits from our training partners to understand how much we can take, then in a real confrontation we learn to use correct strategy to control the distance just enough so that we do not take full direct hits from our attacker.
Tarikan Tenaga demonstarted by the SSBD French Group Leader, Sebastien Ribac and assisted by Ray Burns one of the SSBD Study Group Leaders from Cornwall, UK.
This was a demonstration from the Silat Striking Seminar successfully organise by Omar Ali Grant in Wembley, London. 23rd April 2016.
Thank you to our mentor Guru Utama Ramlan Hj Lamit and The Silat Brunei Silat Betawi Tiga family.
BRUNEIAN MARTIAL HERITAGE
This seminar like my other events aims primarily to raise the curiosity and awareness among people from different nationalities about the martial heritage and culture of Brunei Darussalam in general.

Any form of Self-Defense that's been around for hundreds of years especially in Asia has proven ground fighting strategies. And guess what-when you falsely assume that they don't you lose!

This video is a perfect refutation for the trolls who say these guys would lose to an mma fighter no rules. Fast combos finish my opponent in the third or fourth strike in a three or four hit combo the engagement (fight) is over. Excellent and impressive show of 'techniques' how fast the one trained in SSBD can take another's life bare hand. That's what SSBD in this video is demonstrating, they can take hard hits and still deliver swiftly max damage on the opponent every hit just waiting for the right second to end the fight at their leisure. What's your mindset?

With enough adrenaline, its probably possible. Ive been punched in the face in multiple cases of misunderstandings. Its the mentality and courage probably. But limiting options of an attacker is a great option. Personally if unsure I believe the peekaboo guard is awesome because it guards the important parts such as the throat and the chin. This one time some dude punched me in the forehead and his hands got hurt. He picked the worst place to hit my face. Some people dont understand that punching is bad for knuckles especially without gloves

If weapons are going to be in play, then I'm pretty sure UFC fighter Tim Kennedy would kill Maul with a sniper rifle. And I like Maul quite a lot. I learn from his videos, and I like Silat. I imagine he'd beat the hell out of most people, with or without a weapon. But if you think he'd be able to take a competent MMA fighter in a hand-to-hand fight then you're delusional. You obviously haven't trained in the arts your criticizing. I have trained Silat and FMA for several years, and that cements my opinion here.

But it's kind of pointless to mention the knife stuff. If Maul uses a knife against an unarmed UFC guy, what does that show? An untrained person with a knife could kill an unarmed UFC fighter, and I hate to break it to you, but an untrained person with a knife could very feasibly kill Maul. And like I said, Tim Kennedy would kill Maul with a sniper rifle. Or how about Keanu Reeves? He does competitive tactical shooting. That's why he looks so good in the John Wick films. He would kill Maul and a UFC fighter if he got his pistol. This is why being nerdy about your kit is fucking lame. Also, a UFC fighter (assuming said UFC fighter isn't an accomplished former kick-boxing fighter like Darren Till, Donald Cerrone, Mirko Cro-Cop, Melvin Manhoef, Semmy Schilt, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, etc.) would lose to a good Thai fighter in a kick-boxing match, and a Thai fighter would lose to the UFC guy in an MMA match. If you're suggesting the Thai would beat the UFC guy in an MMA or no-rules fight, then you're daft.
