It's frustrating, when you're looking forward to something and then because of health issues you can't go. I can relate Jaquie, I know this all too well.... hang in there. The most important thing is that even though you will not see the house finished now, you WILL see it eventually and you're gonna LIVE there! Just hold on, taking care of your health is the most important thing now. Feel better soon! :)

Chronic illness really kicks you in the butt, and you've got to do everything a bit differently. Just remember, you're in the hospital for a reason and you wouldn't want to be home dealing with such a severe flare by yourself! Don't feel bad about missing the walkthrough. It's more about learning about your house (appliances, furnace, gas cutoff, etc) and there are a few things that will go on your punch list from the walkthrough, but most new houses comes with a one year warranty so don't worry if you miss things or find things a few months later. I'm still finding little things six months later on my new house.

Hey Jaquie, I've been going through something similar. It's not my first home and it's not with a partner, but I'm buying a new place and selling my current place right now. I placed the offer on my new place from a bed in the ER! The open house on my current place was 2 days after I had major surgery to remove part of my stomach (NOT weight loss surgery, actually more difficult as the bit that needed removing was on the back - it was actually something a lot rarer than EDS, major teaching hospital and noone had done the surgery before). It's actually taken some of the stress away because I'm not focusing on it so much, though after the easter bank holidays (I'm in the UK) I'm going to have to get on to things. You are blessed to be going through this with Judd, you may feel you are missing something exciting - but you still get to do it, you are going to own your first home with Judd - I've also not seen inside the place I am buying yet. Hope everything goes well for you.

Brenda Shelonko when I was inpatient at National Jewish in Denver as a child, I had mrsa. I also have a primary immune deficiency and MCAS. Once , the mrsa showed up a 2nd time, they tested and treated the whole family and pets for 6 weeks. Seems extreme, but that was over 26 years ago and I’ve not had it since. I have 2 parrots(23&7yrs old), an old cat, and a service dog. An added cost of living with animals and immune deficiency must be factored in if you are living with these diseases. I get fungal and bacterial cultures done on mine 2 times a year. Nothing zoonotic has ever come up but I can’t afford to risk it. The most common source of the place Jaquies current infection is comes from shaving your legs. My docs don’t recommend shaving at all with a razor. If razors must be used they recommend using a disposable razor once and throwing it away. Unfortunately, we sometimes never know what the source of the infection is. It also sucks strong emotions and stress of any kind are mast cell triggers. We have a lot to deal with and despite all efforts to avoid issues MCAS rears it’s nasty head at the worst possible times.

@@yogabirds Thanks for sharing your experience. And even good stress, like excitement over a first house purchase, can be a factor in triggering negative physical responses. Just moving domiciles is stressful. I posted my concerns a few months ago when Jacquie shared about her part time social media job, multiple college courses, AND building their first home. And running her KZread channel, merchandise, and Patreon is a job as well. As a caregiver to my adult 27 yo daughter, disabled by chronic Lyme since age 12, I totally get how exciting any of these activities are to someone sidetracked by chronic illness. I think Jaquie is a phenomenal person to have been able to accomplish so much at her age, ill or well. But I was alarmed at how much she was trying to do after having had such a tough year with multiple hospitalizations in 2018.

Jackie, I understand totally. I also deal with chronic illnesses & I have a HUGE occasion coming up the end of May. Our grandson graduates high school in North Carolina & I live in south Alabama & I've been really sick for two months this time but as May gets closer I worry more. A graduation isn't something that you can do later too but I wanted to tell you that I try my best to have faith in Jesus. I have no idea how you feel about that but I just wanted to tell you how I'm dealing with it. Prayer & more prayer sweet girl. God knows our needs & our desires before we do. Does that mean I don't have pity parties too? Nope it doesn't. I cried this morning if fact. It's my anniversary & I want to go out to eat with my amazing husband but I'm sick. I'm nauseous, can't keep food down so it's just not happening. My husband is like yours, he's my chronic caregiver like Judd is. I count my blessings Jackie. I got a Blessing Jar from my secret sister at church for an anniversary gift. I drew my first blessing out this morning & it said "count your blessings every day". How appropriate huh? I decided to put a blessing in each day so next year I'll have 365 blessings. I hope this helps you somehow sweetie.

Sorry. You will get through it! Kind of weird all around Easter also. Things usually seem to go wrong all at once ( here also). Hugs!

About MRSA: I originally got it from shaving. I got some hairs by the root, the bacteria got in, and since 2014, I've had abscesses pop up anywhere they want. Once that bacteria is in your body, a MRSA abscess flare is pretty random. Granted I don't have all the health issues that you do, though I am type II diabetic, which is also a chronic illness. It does mean my immune system is a bit weakened. I imagine treating your abscess symptoms are probably different than how I've been instructed to treat them... I wish you luck though...

Here in Australia we say Nill by mouth for no food before surgery and when I get infections they take forever and I'm a t-1 diabetic and even infections or illness can place me in Hospital too.

Do you ever run into people who think you are faking your illnesses or just being lazy? That happens to me but I haven’t been formally diagnosed. I don’t know how to deal with people who think I’m faking it. It happens too often and people start to doubt me. What do I do?

I have almost had to get a wheelchair because of the symptoms. But I don’t because people don’t think a teenager could need a wheelchair.

I had my baby the day we were supposed to move but it worked out great for me they had everything moved and I was able to go there from the hospital with the baby. I don't know if you thought about it but you can easily get a infection from shaving and it just takes a tiny little nick.

OMG Jaquie, you go for that pity party! You're allowed.....this was something VERY special, not only in your life, but for you, Judd and Harlow too. So wallow in it, soak in it, and trust me, by ALLOWING yourself to FEEL all those emotions, you WILL feel better! I'm not saying you're still not disappointed, but have that pity-party and rock it. But next time, invite all of us to join you....I'll bring the balloons!

Buying a house is stressful. Having Judd do all the boring stuff and moving everything in without you having to do any work is ideal 😛
