I would never get the Sigma to shoot with an h.264 codec. I'd get a Sony A73 for that. That is not the point of this camera. You've overlooked the compelling reason to buy this camera, which is the 12 bit raw cdngs.

They are both graded differently and one is a standard camera profile and one was graded with a lut so it really isn't a far match maybe if you can do a few shots in cinema dng on sigma fp to match bmpcc 4k then we could really see the difference....

Thank you for your comment. I understand that. However, even with different profiles, there are many people's preferences such as color, image quality, and lenses, and shooting may be limited. It is a test for that.

GoodREC studio @manuel friedrich agrees, would really love to see fp and bmpcc4k using cinema dng / black magic raw and both colour graded to your liking. Please do such a video. Thank you.

You can't let the highlights burn out in the BMPCC 4K, it really looks like shit. Also, this is more of a Codec comparison than anything else, you can't shoot one camera in log with a super solid codec and the other one with a garbage codec and "standard" picture profile. They have a 0.5 stop difference in dynamic range and you made the FP look like a toy.

Hi GoodREC thanks for posting this.It's a useful comparison. Can you tell me what bit rate was used for the Sigma FP? Was it the 8 bit internal? 4k? What about for the BM - is it 10 bit? I wonder if the lens was an factor too? Maybe that 45mm kit lens needs a polariser? Did either of these lenses have a filter?

Why do you use GoP instead of All-I in the Sigma FP? What are your thoughts about the Sigma FP? Do you like it?

Yes. Because ALL-I has a lot of data. This was a test. Sigma fp is a good camera! !

BMPCC4K got better film colour than Sigma fp. But that’s also because Sigma fp was using the standard colour mode. But for the size I would pick the Sigma fp all time 😊

Thanks for sharing. I rather prefer bmpcc4k’s colour science and tonal appearance, however FP has the much more desired form factor to my shooting. It’s really confusing which one to go. As the lens systems are so different due to to sensor sizes, it makes little sense to own two systems at the same time.

thank you for your comment. I understand very well. I also have MFT as the main, so I worried about the difference in sensor size and lens, but fp was attractive and owned. We look forward to the future!

A standard profile used for the Sigma is a bad comparison to ProRess with a lut. You can tell the camera is much sharper, and with that particular color profile and codec, looks digital much like what you'd expect from Sony mirrorless. BMPCC still looks great. We'd have to see Cinema DNG vs BM raw to give a more detailed opinion. I absolutely love the size of the Sigma though.

I think the color kelvin is different, sigma more blueish when bmppc4k more yellowish

Sigma has a more digital feel in my opinion

Which is your fav? and who is the winner?

sigma fp has the ugly video look : too much saturation, too much contrast, i do prefer by far the arri like tonality of bmpcc4k even if colors are not accurate - you should have color graded them closer because colors are too different it is hard to compare

Totally agree, too digital. I see the sigma fp more like a travel or consumer camera.

I Allready have bmpcc4k now I buy sigma fp for travel vloging

That's pretty bad dynamic range for a sensor that is twice as large! I'd say the Pocket has atleast 2 stops more DR. Color science also looks poor. Pretty dissapointing as this could have been an awesome little camera.

@@GoodRECstudio I mean when you are filming and comparing two cameras it is also important to know (at least for me :)) ) which camera is more close to the natural colours of what you see... I t can look great but colouring could be different of that what is real... sorry for my English. Hope I explained correctly... So it is not only comparison between cameras but also what the eye actually see.

Pretty bad comparison. One is ProRes422 codec with a LUT and the other is compressed GOP with no grading. As others stated, should have done ALL-I or CinemaDNG and grade it as well.

The only Sigma shot that wasn't over powered by purple was the last night time shot.

the bmpcc4k colors are comically horrible. the brown image.
