Pro tip : you can watch series at kaldroStream. I've been using it for watching loads of movies recently.

I found I preferred the Sigma fp and then I bought a Davinci Resolve 16 license :-) I have two BMPCCs from before so these two companies are my favourites

Thank you for the review and download of cinema dng files. On my older PC Davinci Resolve 16 easily and quickly converted the cinema dng files to 4K .mp4. I noticed there was no audio with the cinema dng files. Does the fp produce a wav. file for audio like the bmpcc does?

Both LP and M4/3 both can be adapted easily.

RAW = RAW and a sensor is linear. a flat LOG profile is something added downstream. So you can't give points to Bmpcc because it has flat profile.. The RAW from the sigma is simply RAW, you can make it Log / Aces / rec709 whatever you want..

but sigma dont have their own log profile so why should they get a point?Bmd, arri, red have made their own log profile specific to their sensors and they shouldnt get credit vs someone who didnt? im not understanding your logic

JSFILMZ that’s definitely true! I thought you were dismissing the raw as inferior to the log profile of the bmpcc. And that is just scientifically untrue.

@@Jsfilmz it doesn't need a log profile... it is raw video. In resolve you just select whatever flat profile you want. You can even use bmpcc 4k as the log profile. It's in the raw tab

@@bedenegative6450 Log curves need to be made for the sensor though. It is true that raw has all the same info, but without the software work of making a log that is right for the dynamic range, and then a lut to properly unpack it, it will be a real disadvantage. Even for an ACES workflow, you need proper IDTs that the sigma doesn't have any specific settings for.

@@DrWNoLs yea that's true. Though if the curves are sorted out it can be applied retrospectively. I've found the sigma to be very akward. But I am enjoying it.... not sure if I'll sell it

My dude the sigma looks green as hell in low light, as compared to the pocket which looks pretty normal.

Is DaVinci rsolve studio a feature? The colour of the sigma FP looks realllyyy greenish. A mft mount is for sure more flexible when it comes to adapting lenses.

Download the raw files. I’ve matched bmpcc and sigma fp easily. Bmpcc has terrible shadows though.

Agree. I´ve seen other footage and I have to say it`s pleasing, if you avoid the post sharpening (which is really ugly) and use 12 bit DNG, which causes monster data size. If I used that Cam, I would buy a BM video assist and record ext in BRaw. In that price range, you have to compare it with the BMPCC 6K.

the BRAW is very soft on the sigma FP. The blackmagic 6k is significantly sharper because the Sigma BRAW is line skipped big time.

Funny thing that Sigma’s 1080p looks more detailed than 4K From BMCPC

Thanks for the footage, you know you can import the sigma raw files in resolve with the blackmagic film profile ? If you want to have a flat image out of the box.

Bothe cameras have good video but black magic can maybe take in my canon ef Len’s

Its kinda hilarious when you talk about how much sharper the Sigma FP is but the footage of the BMPCC4K looks clearly sharper.

ur probably looking at the 1080p scaled to 4k. those will be obviously softer but download the files i gave youll see. the sigma is sharp and vivid

@@MrLambda48 got cha yea thats the depth of field since it is full frame the dof is thin. the focus point in this shot is the building all the way in the back so the foreground is gonna be out of focus u can see it better with the cndg vs braw file

Pocket 4k wins!

Put the video on the Davinci editing station. I liked the quality of the video from Sigma FP more. This is purely my vision, because in the second chamber I see a lot of soap, although the pictures are very close and only the pros can see the differences.

original bmpcc still better than 4k and sigma fp... time passes by...

Naw! FP is better!

I havent used the sigma but from this review and a little bit of Google it seems to me like the BMPCC4K as a video camera wins hands down. I say video camera because no one is buying the pocket for stills so it's irrelevant comparing them (I can take stills on a canon xf305 but why would you). The pocket has the better colour science, better dynamic range, better frame rates, more connectivity options, pro audio connector with phantom power and shoots BRAW which is a dream to work with. I would also argue that a m43 mount is more versatile and because of the smaller chip size it allows for speedboosters as well as straight adapters. While the low light shots might be brighter and cleaner out of the sigma they do have a colour cast and less dynamic range and resolve does a great job of cleaning up the braw footage. The pocket can also be powered by vmount or anything really between 20v and 7.2v which makes it very easy to find external power options. As for additional options it ships with resolve, has shooting modes for anamorphic lenses, stores and uses LUTS, has false colour (not sure if the sigma does) and can be matched with much higher end blackmagic cameras in a production pathway. It just seems a clear winner to me. There is also the price and if you were to compare the closest offering from blackmagic to the sigma it would be the pocket 6k, which I don't think there would be any debate to which is the better video camera.

I know im a bit late to the game but I strongly disagree with your take on the footage from the sigma fp. A test was done on the sigma fp sensor itself and it has better color accuracy than the Blackmagic Ursa mini even! The way it renders skin tones is incredible, I totally disagree with the sharpness, I just shot a short film with the fp and the image looked nearly filmlike with the way the image wasn't too sharp but still had loads of detail. Speaking of which, the way the sigma retains details in surfaces and textures, makes them look non-existent on the bmpcc 4k. The sigma fp is also a full frame camera meaning you get a full 36mm by 24mm sensor which gives bigger boke and a much wider field of view regardless of the lens. Also not to mention CinemaDNG is the industry standard recording format specifically because you can do ANYTHING with the footage when it comes to color grading, you even get more flexibility and options with your footage in the raw tab in davinci with the sigma. I mean people use the fp as a b cam to arri alexas! Besides input options, touch screen, frame rates, and some rolling shutter, the fp is just better hands down. Oh and one other thing, from all the footage I have ever seen shot on the black magic, there is so much chromatic aberration its honestly distracting. Now keep in mind I have mostly seen this on the pocket 6k so it may be different.

Probably because you’re watching it on a smartphone. Watch DSLR Shooters review. It singlehandedly changed my whole opinion on the FP.

The sigma looks like mud

better dynamic range, better color science, flat profile, almost half the price, blackmagic wins again everything.
