mine doesnt rattle like that. if i shake it rigorously it has a slight rattle but nothing like yours. when i point it at the ground i can coax it to zoom on its own but only a little bit. its a lil more willing to zoom out when pointing upwards (i would say verging on being an issue for things like astrophotography)

Initially had the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO DG lens, which for some reason is was very hard to turn, is rather slow in AF, and while it's reasonably sharp, i just didn't like using it. Now i recently purchased the above model with OS, and the built quality is lots better, focusses fast enough for my liking, and so far the shots come back very sharp. For 100USD i am pretty happy with it and i like your honest review about it. Keep it up !

Umm, Definitely shouldn't rattle 🤔 I have the older version ( no inbuilt IS ) I agree, the auto-tracking is a little slow, but I'm mostly a manual man ( zooming and focus by hand.( Using the view finder ) So for me using it was just a case of training myself where the zoom and focus ring was ( and which way it turns to get what I want ) and yes, getting use to the weight of it LoL ) 🙃 Yes it's heavy ( there's a lot of glass ) Had it just a few days now and I'm very pleased with the images I've captured with it ( rapidly becoming my " Go To " lens )

Sigma appears to have wild variations of build quality. I found this video when I looked for a review after receiving my 70-300mm DG OS and noticing that the zoom ring doesn't turn smoothly and has more resistance than I like. I was baffled to see how you could use gravity to extend and retract the lense. Well, I guess I have learn to handle the lense with a decisive grip. It could be worse, it could just move on its own. :D

I have literally bought this camera today and don't have the rattle, clunk or the lens creep. I wonder if your just needs adjusting a bit.
