A very extreme competitor with the Canon 35mm but for a fraction of the cost. Calibrating the lens should only take less than five minutes. Extremely sharp on the Crop Sensor literally throughout the entire spectrum... Two big thumbs up for SIGMA! You CAN'T GO WRONG with this lens! MADE Initially for a full frame camera but works way better on a APS- C.

Hey, great review. I have a same situation like you. My 35 mm is super sharp on my Nikon z8. But 85 1.4 anything bellow F2.8 is unsuable, always misses the focus, on d800 dslr I thought is was problem with calibration, but on z8 mirrorless it should not be problem with calibration, cause focus is aquaired differently. How did you fix this problem? I sent the lens to Sigma to check out the lens.any thoughts from your side?

I am really torn about the 35mm focal length. I find it can potentially create more interesting angles and perspectives than a 50mm, but most of my subjects prefer how they look on the 50mm when I show them all the pictures.

Question - If you shoot wide open at an f1.4 aperture in bright daylight... the shutter speed hits the 1/8000 limit very easily! (clips, can't go any higher) with a Canon R6 or a Sony a7iv Electronic shutter limits also 1/8000. Do you use a ND filter to get around this issue? thanks With my Fujifilm X-T3 in MS + ME mode, it auto switches when needing above 1/8000 to ES mode up to 1/32,000 - thus never had this issue before!. On my Canon R6 if I choose iso 50 L (from 100) to help, this just blows out the highlights images look yuk!!!. I don't want to just raise the aperture to say f2.8 to stop this happening - Canon and Sony need faster Electronic shutter speeds... maybe a firmware fix?

man shes gorgous............35mm f1.4 is a good lens for all around photos however IF your primary focus is on portraits id strongly suggest a longer one like a 50mm or a 85mm or 135mm could take amazing photos with that and better do the model justice

acc to multiple reviews sigma's focus appear to be hit or miss based on the copies, I do not own one, I am failry sceptic towards purchasing them. Also it makes me wonder how does calibrating a lens fixes its innability to aquire focus in certain percentage of the shots.performing a calibration he may have eliminated a percentage of those OOF shots by moving them a bit back into the field of focus, however it doesnt aid the innability of the lens to focus where you want it to focus imho.

@@_systemd The only ART lenses I own now are the 18-35mm and the 30mm, which are both APS-C lenses. I use them on the Fujifilm XT2 and they never miss. They're adapted from EF mounts so it must be Canon bodies being iffy w/ Sigma.
