SIGISMUND FACES ABADDON!

Ойындар

Hi all Wolf Lord Rho here!
Today Black Templars week kicks off! And what better way to start then with a bang... as we discuss, the first High Marshall of the the Black Templars himself, Sigismund. And his encounter with the Despoiler, Ezekyle Abaddon!
Spoiler Warning as usual, the events we are discussing are from the novel "Black Legion" by ADB. As always I really recommend you read the story for yourself first. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore, for yourself. Not only that, we help to support the great Games Workshop and Black Library. Because without them, we don't have this amazing lore to talk about! Link: www.blacklibrary.com/warhamme...

Back when I was in the Navy, having three or more battles a week with various folks on base I noticed something. Black Templars and Grey Knights (often together) was super popular with Marine Corps players and attached Navy medics. One of my buddies, the guy who helped me flesh out the backstory for my Steel Angels homebrew, was a medic (he's a civilian doctor now), has a tattoo of the Black Templars iron cross with a scroll with the test Sigismund on his forearm. As to your question at the end. Had Sigismund fought Abaddon on Terra there is no way Abaddon would have survived the battle. Abaddon's head would be sitting in a stasis reliquary on the Black Templar's fortress monastery for all to see. If Abaddon was in power armor instead of terminator plate at their final battle Sigismund would have still done the same to him.

@@JSTaylor556 I think that he will. He rejuvenates with the red thirst and then confronts him. If things get bad, he can always use the black rage as a last resort. The problem with that option is to see if he could control it and come back from that state. I'm sure that Dante could pulled it off. Dante's achievements are insane. Even the Sanguinor sees something in him. To lead a chapter for more than a 1,000 years makes you a beast. Also, Sanguinius saw him in his visions 10,000 years before Dante was even born. I think Sanguinius knew that Dante would achieve something great in the future.

@@drummerdanny1269 I imagine two things happening in a confrontation like that; Either, Dante has both the Black Rage and the Emperor's Blessing to overcome Abaddon's Chaotic Empowerment and finally put the Warmaster down, or, and this would be juicy, the fight escalates to the point where, just before Dante can strike him down, the four gods of Chaos reach some sort of unholy agreement, and Abaddon finally transcends into a Daemon Prince, striking back with such speed and ferocity that none could hope to escape. In pushing Abaddon (and with him, the will of Chaos as a whole) to his limits, whosoever champions the cause of fighting Chaos could very well release a whole new and far more dangerous power upon the galaxy.

@@drummerdanny1269 Mmm, I'm an Acolyte of Chaos, through n' through, but Abaddon has never been a favorite of mine. As long as he goes out in spectacular fashion, I wouldn't lose any sleep over his death. Especially if it means something bigger and badder taking his place. In my deepest, darkest, and most wild dreams, I see the death of The Despoiler, only for his corpse to be unceremoniously cast aside, his powers absorbed and the reins of the Black Crusade taken up by the one true Chosen of the Gods, Be'Lakor. The First. The Shadowlord. And the most underrated Chaos HQ we currently have, IMO. But that's basically a fever dream at this point lol. My own personal fanfic narrative. I'll just quietly continue to play my Chaos to that tune, and paint all my Daemons in shades of black and grey to better serve my favorite character.

Sigismund is easily one of the greatest characters to have ever come from Warhammer 40k. Throughout his entire service as both the First Captain of the Imperial Fists and later the High Marshal of the Black Templars he was an unparalleled warrior. During the Siege of Terra, after he takes the mantle of Emperors Champion for the first time, he single handedly sought out champions of the traitor legions and left each and every one of them dying in the dirt. Even in his advanced age he is able to gravely wound Abaddon, knowing it will most likely end with his death. He is sheer determination and absolute will made manifest, truly one of the greatest servants of the Emperor. Damn, think it's time I start a Black Templar army.

This portions of this scene of Abaddon's emotive moments, reminds me of the part of the time when Abaddon was near death in the Siege of Terra and had accepted his death, but right after being saved from being killed, he weeped so much as he wanted to die an honorable death in battle. He did not care for or want to do with politics then. As if some part of him still accepted that he might have been on the wrong side, and therefore ok to die as long as it was in glorious battle

in the siege of terra novels, it's pretty clear that he KNOWS he is on the shit-side. He is already starting to lose the respect he had for Horus, seeing what chaos is doing to horus, and the rest of the legion regressing into chtonian gangs.

Maybe that Indomitus box set i get should be all ready to crusade. What a beast was Sigismund, love how stoic he is, he is a son of Dorn after all

I appreciate getting this other side of Sigismund. I’ve only heard of him through his disloyalty to Rogal Dorn. Even if he caught the ire of his father, his loyalty to the Emperor is beyond without question. That’s a hell of a high bar for future High Marshals to follow.
