Sight Fishing for Halibut - Fish Out of Water!

Спорт

In this wild session, I successfully sight fish for halibut. They were seen blowing up bait in the shallows and after we'd see a halibut jump out of the water, we'd cast just over them and retrieve through.
What an epic session!

Once the water temp took that recent jump, we’ve started getting on them in 3 separate spots already so they’re showing up for sure.

Hey man I ordered those swim baits on Amazon . I noticed that there’s weight at the top of that hook in the video. Are you sure that’s the same jig head as the link you provided on bass pro shops? Thanks 😎

@@caseyschuster6897 the swimbait is separate from the hook. The stuff linked in the video description is exactly what I used.

@@caseyschuster6897 apologies….. that’s actually the hook I used the last two days that I caught some white seabass on. This was a few weeks ago and I was actually using this hook: bassproshops.vzck.net/n16xyM Same exact design, but I like the one that was previously linked in the description better. I just changed it but will be writing an article about all of them soon.

Is there a reason why you use a heavier line for your leader? If it gets caught on something, wouldn't you have to cut your main line?

I use it because I fish really rocky areas and when a fish pulls me into sharp areas, my like can withstand it better. I’ve never actually snagged to the point that I need to cut my line while using weedless seimbaits but yes theoretically tha would be the case

Literally no idea what you’re trying to say… hali jumps > see hali > cast at hali > hook up and catch hali we saw. If that’s not aight casting I’d love to know what is.

Can’t tell you everything. I’d recommend trying anything and everything until it works. Put the time in, explore your local beaches, get skunked and keep going until you gain a little confidence. Take that confidence and put your efforts there as you continue to try new things and just keep going. With time and effort you’ll be rewarded.

Ya gotta earn it, is what he’s sayin’. Time on the water, sweat, tears and solid effort end up producing, the prize will be more rewarding.
