Sig P226 X5 Legion Review - Yes, it surprised me too!

The Sig P226 is known for being the goto pistol for the Navy Seals. After giving to a bunch of misfits in their performance division... they've now given us this... the Sig Sauer P226 X5 Legion!

    I've owned ACW, CZ, Dan Wesson, Staccato, Wilson Combat, etc... and my P226 XFive Legion is the Best 9mm semi-auto I've ever owned. It's simply phenomenal.

    Great review, Paul! Super interesting gun. I have an AXG Legion I don't shoot very often, but it's a fun shooter as well, and is also surprisingly accurate. Great vid!

    Got my hands on one of these at my local dealers a few months ago. Fantastic ergonomics, balanced pistol. The trigger is very tight and short reset. Only negatives, price and its size. My frame and build I could never carry this size forearm for daily carry. Good informative and objective review

    Great review… I own this gun and thought your review was excellent! One thing… you can add a rear sight right on the slide when you add an optic. Sig sells it (of course!) and I added it to my X5 Legion and it co-witnesses perfectly with my Romeo2.

    great review... now subscribed..... I have the regular legion, SAO so know the slide lock lever position issue...I've learned to engage the safety lever after slide is locked, I reload then release the lock lever.... then safety lever when ready to fire...

    Just slingshot like the rest of us and the slide release is not a factor. Great review, on this pistol, this is the other Legion that I want from Sig.

    I have to admit I'm thinking about purchasing one for work now. Mainly because I have a bunch of Scheel gift cards from having their credit card, and the fact that my first work gun was a P220 DAK. I'm one of 4 people who actually likes the DAK trigger 😅

    Not sure why I don't buy Sig. They are generally pretty pricey, maybe that's why. My son is in the Navy and his unit typically goes with the Glock 19 but he's seeing more and more guys who are buying into Sig.

    It's a little dishonest (the gun, not the video). The legion model fell "short" with the Barrel. It would have been better with a 5' ported barrel. Checkout the Classic review on my page. A little different but solid.

    How does the barrel crowning improve accuracy? I thought crowning was only to protect the rifling and muzzle from damage.

  • @AdamSlobodow

    @AdamSlobodow

    13 күн бұрын

    I think you have a point sir.... google: Barrel crowning is the process of creating a symmetrical transition from the rifling at the end of the barrel to the open air. Barrel crowning can improve accuracy in a pistol if the muzzle has been slightly damaged1. However, barrel crown may not have a significant effect on accuracy as long as it is concentric, and barrel length may have more impact2. Target guns with expensive barrels tend to have 11 degree inset crowns to protect the muzzle and for aesthetic reasons3. Learn more:

    I love the dh3. It's very smooth with 124gr factory loads from Igman and AAC. The ergos are great (medium size frame), but what i really like is the slide stop. It's small and shrouded so it's been almost impossible for me to override it, but it's very easy to access for reloads. It's ultra grippy as well with the oem texture. The trigger is spongy with a weaker return, so I put in a heavier return spring. After a couple hundred rounds, the break got a lot crispier, but overtravel and reset distance are excessive (in my opinion, but still on par with glock/s&w). The weight and balance are perfect for me and it's very manageable in recoil without being unwieldy in target transitions. The stock magwell is also easy to use and mags get sucked up without issue. I loaded up a large-window optic on there (cyelee ghost for testing now, 507comp otherwise) with a chpws filler plate and had to trim the right screw so it didn't contact the extractor rod/spring. Under recoil, the dot doesn't leave the window and tracks very predictably. My only complaint is a hot spot on my right (strong) thumb, but a quick hit with some sandpaper got that edge softened up. I'd absolutely recommend it for competition use with a kydex holster. Retention holsters (safariland) that lock off the ejection port will get stuck on the slide serrations, so I can't recommend it for duty use yet. In competition, I've been very successful in b-class LO, beating my peers and several a-class shooters without issue. The gun is so easy to shoot well that I could focus more on movement than running the gun.
