Sig Legion P220 in 10MM

Спорт

We shoot the powerful 10mm from Sig Sauer. I've been a fan of the Sig Legion pistols and own both the DA/SA and a SAO 9mm versions. The 10mm is definitely "snappy" but controllable.
For those looking for a 10mm the P220 might just be the right pistol for you!
Here the marketing pitch from the Sig Website:
The P220 Legion is an enhanced version of the gun that started it all for modern day SIG. Finished in a proprietary Legion gray coating and featuring custom G-10 grips with a Legion medallion, the P220 Legion is improved in nearly every way. The stainless-steel slide sports SIG SAUER Electro-Optics X-RAY high visibility day/night sights as well as front cocking serrations that provide greater purchase for cycling the action, clearing the firearm or conducting press checks.
The P220 in DA/SA includes a reduced and contoured Elite beavertail, which allows for a higher grip and a reduced profile, thus eliminating printing. More aggressive front strap checkering and additional checkering under the trigger guard enhance the grip. An X-Five undercut has been applied to the trigger guard, allowing for a higher grip and greater control. The P220 Legion also features low-profile decocking and slide-catch levers to reduce the risk of snagging. An enhanced polished action with the SRT (Short-Reset Trigger) is augmented with a Grayguns, Inc. designed P-SAIT trigger. In addition, a solid steel guide rod adds weight where it matters most. The P220 Legion ships with three 8-round magazines.

I have this gun and by far IMO it’s the best looking most aesthetically pleasing Pistol I’ve owned. I love it! Great emergency woods backup gun. I carry 220 grain underwood hardcast going 1200. Eight of those should get a black bears attention…

Thanks for another one of your videos. 10mm Auto is my favorite pistol cartridge. The SIG Sauer P220 Legion 10mm Auto 5" DA/SA you feature here is my all-time favorite 10mm Auto pistol, and that despite its mere 8+1 round capacity. IMHO, its a work of art. If only I could swing the $1600 price tag without my wife shooting me with it. I love the SS P22O, P226, and P229 designs. They're all instant classics in my book. Good things! 👍

The legions don't have a "stock defensive" type trigger though, they're tuned by GrayGuns. Don't know if you got a lemon or what, but the legion triggers are known for being pretty good.

Interesting. The P226 DA/SA Legion I purchased has the curved trigger and is not anything special. The same pistol with the SAO trigger has a Gray Guns 90 degree trigger. Neither of these triggers feel tuned or special. They are "pretty good" but not much more than that. Yes, they are better than my stock P226 but not my much. FYI, I hand picked the SAO Legion at the Sig Academy pro shop. I've shot other Legion pistols and they all feel like good factory triggers. But no way these pistols had been worked on by Gray Guns. I never much cared for the SS P227 45 ACP full size pistol. Why only a 10+1 capacity, when all of its similarly sized competitors are 13+1 capacity? Was it their intention to sell it only in Californicstan and the People's Republic of New Jersey? SIG Sauer gave away a lot of sales due to that limited capacity.

Would you be able to confirm, and tell us if, the P220 Legion in 10MM has a Steel Frame? Different web sights, quote different specs. Some say Stainless slide and Alloy frame weight of 30oz. but some say Stainless slide and steel frame weight of 41oz? Just wondering if they mix up the specs with the Sig P220 45 legion with a 4.4" barrel. Just need to know.

I have this exact gun and I was obsessed with it therefore doing tons of research prior to the buy. Yes this gun has an all steel frame which is different from most SigSauer which have an alloy lower. This gun also is a little bit over built with the components which is a good thing compared to other SIGs because it’s firing a 10 mil. It’s 44 ounces.

Not understanding why lowering the hammer is such an issue or are you referring to the single action only? In that case why would you lower it? It’s designed to stay locked to the rear.

  • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC

    @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC

    2 жыл бұрын

Thanks for watching and commenting. There is no issue lowering the Hammer provided the user knows what they’re doing. However, i’ve seen several negligent discharges when people are in a hurry to lower the hammer. And or lack training. I’ve seen this happen and it’s usually because of operator error. Assuming someone is using a single action only pistol then the safety is always engaged if the hammer is cocked. With a double action/single action design, once the first round is fired the pistol is in single action. Since there is no external safety on this particular firearm the application of a decocking mechanism has many benefits. Personally I prefer the Sig designs are single action only. However, many others prefer a double action/single action pistol. Whatever the user selects they should be dedicated to learning the manual of arms associated with that firearm. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you will subscribe to the channel.

On the SS P220 series DA/SA pistols (and others), if you don't decock the hammer, you're running around cocked-and-unlocked, with a very short light "hair" trigger. Not an especially safe thing.

not too sure how comfortable I'd be relying on a 10mm for brown bear defense. If you've seen a brown bear up close i think you'd change your mind on the 10mm being enough. 44 mag at very least. Of course people say Alaskan Police rely on 10mm for polar bears, but I'm sure there is more to that story.

A well-placed shot or shots with Underwood 10mm Auto 220 Gr FN HCL and/or 200 Gr FN HCL will do the job defending against a black bear attack, and even a grizzly bear attack. It's all up to the shooter to do his/her part. If the shooter can't do their part, not even a .50 BMG will stop that attacking bruin in time. Where I live and bike / hike / camp, in southern Arizona, a good full sized semi-auto pistol loaded with 17 to 20 rounds of 10mm Auto 200 Gr FN HCL will nicely take down black bear, mountain lion, and, yes, even jaguar, plus smaller critters. It's much easier to handle, shoot fast and accurately, and affords much higher capacity than a .44 Magnum revolver. Good things! 👍
