The SAO trigger gives the same pull for every shot, in addition to being incredible. The 226 SAO also allows a round to be chambered or a press check with the safety on, unlike a 1911. One of my favorites.

I'm so close to purchasing the SAO, but I just picked up a Sig 1911 that isn't even broken in yet and it's baby brother the P938 Legion. Yes I'm a Sig fan, and I've had my eye on the P226 SAO for a while. Always wanted a 226 but I'm not a huge fan of DA/SA. My first carry was a Beretta PX4 Storm subcompact DA/SA decocker etc, and it was great but times have changed. I'm much more comfortable with SA triggers.

  • @WhyPhi

    @WhyPhi

    11 ай бұрын

@@jaya3597 not really. Both are quite soft shooting guns. the p226 is slightly more tame since it is a bigger gun. I prefer the p229 overall since it is basically the same and it is easier to conceal but here are some differences in my guns: the p226 mk25 has a true 1913 rail which is nice, but I didn’t have any issue putting my tlr7a on the sig rail for the p229. Mk25 also has phosphate coated corrosion resistant internals. the grips are different since I got the mk25. I personally like the e2 grips on the p229 versus the classic grips on the mk25. Note: removing and reinstalling e2 grips may cause them to loosen slightly. I removed mine once to do the srt install and they felt loose after but have since tightened back up so take that however you will.

I've owned my SIG Sauer P226 MK25 9mm Luger pistol since around 2012. I bought it used for $730, if memory serves. It came with the SIG short reach trigger and short reset trigger installed, three standard SIG 15-round magazines, plus three 18-round Mec-Gar flush-fit magazines. I love it. It fits my hand like a glove, and I really like the DA/SA trigger. It's so soft-shooting, and has such a smooth operation - it screams QUALITY! Terrific accuracy, too... better than any of my other 9mm Luger pistols from Glock, Springfield Armory XDm, S&W M&P M2.0, shooting off-hand out to 100 yards. It's been totally flawless for my almost 11 years of ownership and thousands of rounds sent down range. The only thing I changed on it was putting on Hogue grips, and Trijicon HD tritium night sights (after the original Siglight night sights dimmed). The one thing I would like to add/change about this pistol is add checkering to the grip front strap. For a long time this was my EDC during the cool/cold months of the year, at which time it was carried in a leather shoulder rig. It's still my primary home-defense pistol. However, these days my EDC is a smaller, lighter, 15+1 round, 4" striker fired polymer wonder pistol. This is the one pistol I'll never sell. It'll stay with me until my time here on this Earth is done, at which point it will go to my son. Good things! 👍

When I was a police officer in the early to mid 1990’s we was issued the p226 in 9mm. I liked the gun but just never got proficient with it. When I switched to the Glock 23 it was like magic. Probably why I shot the Glock better was we had an great change over training. When I went from smith 686 to the p226 I did not, and I think I was trying to shoot it like the revolver. I would love to give the p226 another chance.

It's easily my favority handgun, it lives attached to the side of my bed while I sleep (I have no kids), and frequently carry it during the colder times of the year OWB. It a fantastic shooter, and I prefer the DA/SA style as I can then carry with peace of mind that it won't have an ND. Thumb on the hammer when holstering is extra protection against an ND. Can't say enough positive things about this firearm.

I own the P226, you forgot about the solid guide rod and stippling on the trigger guard. You can pull it out of the case in a pitch black room and immediately see the sights. I carry mine because it hits the target every time, the low rise on recoil due to the trigger indentation, solid guide rod and higher grip because of the contoured beaver tail allowing quick sight acquisition. My go to Gun for defense along with my MCX.

Edpotts.... speaking of pitch black, that's one of the many advantages of the Springfield XD...both the loaded chamber indicator and the striker fire indicator can be checked in total darkness...so there's absolutely no doubt that a round is chambered & it's ready to fire.... another is that, unlike virtually every other semi auto, the XD won't go out of battery & not fire if pressed directly against an attacker's body... That said, the P226 IS a great gun...

I just bought a P226 legion optics ready this week, mostly because it was on my list as an iconic gun. More than that, it was the true winner of the XM9 context back in the day, only losing the contract because the Beretta was cheaper. The thing fired over 2800 rounds without failure compared to the Beretta's 1700. Both magnificent guns, but since I already have the M9A3, I needed it's modern day arch nemesis.

Older SIGs like the P226 and P229 as well as CZ 75 variants are my favorites. The trigger pull variation is not an issue with me, but the extra safety margin is. I am range challenged since a move a couple of years ago, but that appears to be changing so I am looking forward to spring as it’s still cold up here in the Alleghenies. One of the nice things about the 226 and 229 is (or perhaps was) that the uppers and lowers were interchangeable much like an AR-15 so, at least several years ago I bought a new Emperor Scorpion 40 cal lower on gunbroker and caliber kits in 40 S&W, 9 mm, and a 22 lr so I have one P229 that is multi caliber. Carrying a CZ Rami or a Kimber k6s 2” in civilization and a K6s 3” for woods walks but would consider a P229 without reservation.

This was the 3rd pistol I purchased, I bought it shortly after they hit the market. I love this pistol and I shoot it better than any of my other handguns. Messing around with a buddy I ran out of rifle ammo and pulled my pistol while my friend finished his magazine. We were at 75 yards and he laughed asking me why I was wasting rounds, until we checked our targets and he realized I was hitting with it. He didn't have a bad word to say about the pistol after that, and I only use iron sights on pistols. Edit: I don't carry it regularly, I will carry it in a shoulder rig if I'm dressed in a suit (but that doesn't happen often). It was my night stand pistol until 2 years ago, I have since switched to a Glock 20 10mm. It's my go to if I'm shooting 9mm.

But my nightstand gun is still a Sig P229 Elite with a 17 rd. mag. I've trusted it for many years and continue to trust it. It has been 100% reliable. And I could easily swap it out for another of my 229s or one of my Sig 226s. Call it familiarity with the manual of arms, but I have no issue with the DA first round. I like the extra weight because it reduces recoil. It is solid firearm that goes bang every single time. And yes, I still shoot my Sig duty size pistols. They are a joy to shoot.

I carry a 226 or 229 everyday and have for 10 years. One of my P226s has over 30,000 rds through it with only two misfires both of which were ammo related. One bad prime, another round was missing its primer. Just this last year sent it in to Sig for check-up.😊

Great video. I have a MK25 226. It’s my go-to non-carry pistol. 50-100 rounds at the range with 5 mags for cost before switching to 22lr with my personal budget. A joy to shoot in single action. Extra weight is beneficial for accuracy. Fits extremely well in my hand.

This video speaks to me. My 1st handgun was a P229 40S&W when that was what the new hot gun. I then bought a P226 W German then a P220 Stainless 45 ACP , P230 Stainless then a P229 9MM, P226 Stainless , I had the Sig SRT Trigger parts installed in all of them.... I own all but the P230 still along with S&W M&P Pro and Full size and a Glock 19 and 48 and a H&K P7 PSP. I too shoot the striker fired pistols 99% of the time but with the 2011 -Stacatto craze I recently started shooting my Classic Sig P226 Stainless. The pistol I sold that I regret was my P226 X5 Competition in 9mm.

A couple of years ago I was "just looking" at the dealer. As soon as I grabbed this gun, I fell in love. I had always leaned toward 1911s, but the Legion just seemed more natural. I was a little hesitant to change to a 9mm, but after several boxes of ammo, the ability to return back on target quickly, convinced me. I don't carry it very often, but it's always in my vehicle. As far as the weight, personally I don't see it as a problem. I think that the 10 ounces contributes to the overall shootability that I love.

I love my 226’s and 229. They are some of my favorite guns to shoot. I carry a 229 everyday and it’s replaced my Glock 19. When I need something smaller I will carry my Glock 26 but for 90% of the time I have a 229. I carry the 226 at work during the winter time and don’t have any issues with it. They are sweet shooters and still fill plenty of roles.

I work for DSS and we have carried the P229 years. I have carried the P226 well for several contracts and there is just something about a steel framed firearm that pulls on my heart strings. Although I carry a G19 personally on my off duty days, the P226 is a combat ready forearm, yes there are other lighter more concleable choices but as a duty firearm the dependability and just overall ease of shooting regardless of the DA/SA this platform is a joy.

bought a Sig 229 Legion when they first came out ,really nice shooting gun. my nephew had just finished a 5 year tour wit the 82nd "All America" division. he was own in florida visiting. we had gone to a local range for some shooting. he shot my 229 and liked it. he let me shoot his pistol. it too was a Sig...an M11 A1. for me ,it shot better than my Legion. I was really impressed with the feel .yes I know that the legion costs more than the M 11A1and the legion has all the bells and whistles ,plus the cool little "coin" and special deals etc, etc. didn't matter. I began to look around my area(Central Florida) for an M11 A1pistol....none to be found. I sold my Legion ,put the money away and kept looking. a fellow Marine who works at my favorite range(there is no such animal as a "former Marine) called me and said they had received 5 Sigs in 1 was an M11A1. told me to haul ass because some one had been in earlier and was giving 'my" pistol a long, hard look and asking a lot of questions.BAM grabbed my money, got to the gun store, did my paperwork, got the 'proceed" word from the fed's, took my M11A1 home, broke it down, cleaned it...I never shoot a brand new pistol until i have field stripped it, cleaned it first. that was 2 years ago this month.i shoot that pistol more than any of my others.SEMPER FI my brothers!! LIFE IS GOOD!!!

I have only shot a 226 Legion once, shot it well, liked it, but haven’t managed to break down and acquire one. I used to carry a Sig P228 so I was used to the DA/SA. Several years ago, an indoor range where I belonged was running a somewhat informal IDPA style match. One stage was a “battlefield pickup” theme where the range staff handed the shooter something out of their used or rental gun inventory to engage a dueling tree. While there were some junk pistols handed out, I lucked out and one of my runs was with the Legion. I was a Glock and M&P fanboy at the time, but my performance with the Legion was impressive enough to win that stage.

I bought a P226 ST in 2004 chambered in .357 Sig. I have since added a .40 S&W barrel, a Bar-Sto 9mm conversion barrel, and an E2 grip kit. The best thing I ever did is stuff it full of all the gray guns goodies I could get. It's even heavier due to the stainless steel frame, but the trigger is fantastic and it shoots like a dream even with the relatively high bore axis. It's built like a tank, and it has become apparent that I'll never be able to wear it out in my lifetime. The only thing I've had to replace is recoil springs, but I stocked up on the good older green and orange braided wire versions, so I'm set for many more years. The only thing I might like to have more would be a German made X5 or X6 model.

I've loved the Legion series every since Sig came out with them. I've never acquired one though due to cost. But I do have a number of Sigs and all are great pistols. My P220 SAO Compact is very similar except in .45 ACP and single stack. I have the extended mags with grip extensions to feed it 8 at a time. The grips on that one are aluminum wraparound and have the same feel and look of the Legion G10's. It is also a very nice gun to shoot and the grip feels the best of any of my Sigs including my 1911 C3. Never had a malfunction with the P220 or my P938. My 1911 though has a bit of an issue which I've been messing with and trying to break in. But after at least a 1000 rounds I think it's time to send her back and ask for a thorough inspection. One more note - I have a 1985 Walther P88 purchased in Germany, so it doesn't have any import stamping. It's the sweetest shooting pistol of all. I came to love the DA/SA format with this gun. It does have a bit too much take-up but the SA trigger is smooth as, and breaks like lubed butter. Very accurate as well. It's the most similar to the P226 which is another reason I've delayed picking one up. Ambi mag release and decocker too! Did I mention it's a sweet shooter? Well, I digress to say I love all 'well made' guns. As Hickok said, there's a place for all of them.

Got the same ipistol 226 legion da/sa and I carry it as a winter gun with bigger clothes as my edc. I told myself when I bought it that I was gonna test the design as a work gun and not just a show piece. I’ve put upwards of 5000 rounds through it and I’ve never had a single failure. Let me say that I clean my guns like a psychopath every single time I leave the range if it’s a gun that I carry. I maintain it really well if I’m going to put my life on it. The gun has never failed me, not even once, and I’ve put every style fmj from cheap to boujee through it and every round of defense ammo from 50 gr liberty defense all the way up to 147 with everything in between. Normal pressure, plus p, all of it. Great gun. My only issue I’ve ever had is that I felt the front sight would drift out of place after putting lots of rounds through it. But that’s pretty much it. I would absolutely recommend this gun for anyone thinking of buying one.
