As a black American living in Sierra Leone since 2019 you summed up everything I have observed 1. A country without love - if I win you must lose thinking 2. I have stepped into a time warp or a place that time has forgotten 3. Everyone argues for APC or SLPP but pay little attention that it is the year 2021 and people are bathing, pissing and cooking outside in the same place 4. A place without rules or laws anything goes. 5. People are powerless and refuse to take ownership so they blame government and do nothing. Good video I hope things will turn around for this beautiful country.

Go black to Africa, let me first of all give you a thumbs up for all you are doing to highlight Africa. I am Sierra Leonean, myself and sadly I absolutely agree with everything you had to say. I think most honest Sierra Leoneans would admit to this fact. The truth might be hard to accept. But only the truth will set us free from our crisis. I moved from Freetown years ago and live in a little village. Our people are, as you rightly pointed out, very hard working and deserve so much more. It's so frustrating seeing such a beautiful country and people being abused in this way. I will be back home in a few months and intend on continuing what I do to educate and help develop the village where I live in hygiene. It's been a mission of mine for years and will continue. I would like to congratulate you once again and thank you for your honest opinions. Bravo my brother.

We were poor, fortunately everything and anything was/ is made local, as a result the healthiest, safest and cleanest, no police, by the way I am herbalist, chef, nutritionist and I earned my 30+master degree from this place. Unfortunately many countries in Africa, they trash everything and anything made local, buy trash made from outside. As a Sierraleonean myself, this has been happening for decades it's just getting worse. Politicians have ruined the country and their is no end in sight. Sierra leone is blessed with so much natural resources, but yet still the people are suffering BIG TIME. We rely heavily on importation, even the staple food rice is imported. Which is been mainly done by the Lebanese. Few Sierraleoneans have tried and failed to be involved in agriculture, importation etc. Because everything is about politics These so called Politicians are in the pockets of these Indians and Lebanese. The only way Sierra leone can start to see some light is by us coming together and saying WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS. Our people need to wake up. Elections are just round the corner, these same people who are living in these deplorable conditions will be the ones dancing for these politicians because they've been given a bag of rice. This happens all the time. That's why I say our people need to wake up. Nobody can change Sierra leone, but Sierraleoneans themselves

I’m a Sierra Leonean and I’m sad to say that this guy is 99% correct. The only reason I say 99% percent is that the people themselves are to blame. This is because those who are elected into office, are from the pool of citizens that dwell here. I live here in Freetown. The mentality of Sierra Leoneans have been warped in a way that will be difficult to change. We as a people lack the capability to Manage anything. We cannot manage anything well enough for it to be sustainable. This is because the education is inherently flawed. For generations, cognitive development in young children has been almost non- existent. We have been taught to remember, rather than to learn. People lack the ability to think critically because of the top down approach and as a result, they lack the ability to solve the problems that we are currently facing. I can go into detail as to the causes but if I propose a solution, I’m sure that will scare you more.

Thanks GoBlack for sharing this painful truth. As a Sierra Leonean, I share your experiences in Sierra Leone. This is what many of us from that beautiful country have been sharing for years, but falling on deaf ears. Sadly, all what you eloquently highlighted were some of the reasons for a decade long Civil War in the 90s. Our so called leaders learn nothing from that calamity. Our people are hard working, kind, loving absolutely deserves better. Every government since independence from Britain in 1961 has taken advantage of the people. Every single government we've had thrives on promoting tribal and regional divisions. The only reason there will never be a tribal war is because the vast majority of the Sierra Leonean people will never stand for it. Yes, we quarrel and many times, we argue a lot. But at the end of the day, the love we have for each other trumps the politicians desire for a tribal and regional division. We will keep fighting the good fight. We will keep advocating for a drastic change. We truly appreciate your visit. I hope we'll have many more like these, adding weight to our cries, and high lighting the chronically corrupt system that's literally killing us day in and day out.

Sometimes is issue of knowing and have that infrastructure to transport chicken from Gambia, they can also have their own chicken farms and create jobs home...most importantly , African countries are independent from each other and they have choice to choose what is best for themselves... something I see other people putting Africa in one box like is one country, even before colonizer Africa was dividend by kingdoms, you can't just go anywhere and say "I'm African", the better most people understand the diversity the faster African can start thinking about how they can help each other to develop with mutual understanding

Like GoBlack states the provinces and villages are the only places where there's cleanliness, clean air and order. And those village folks have very little but they take pride in their surroundings. Finally a brutality honest and accurate account of Freetown. Hope those folks sit up and finally wake up to the filth enveloping the city.

Great question brother! "Where's the money going?" I'm from Kenya, one of the more developed countries that you referred to. Yes, we have come a long way. But we have some of the same problems with infrastructure that most African countries have. Even the most developed ones. Even in Kenya, I am concerned about the "development" going into shiny, flashy buildings and freeways in the main cities, while ignoring the less "sexy", but essential, projects like updating sewage systems and cleaning up urban rivers and developing public spaces. Those are the kinds of things that have the maximum benefit for the maximum number of people over the longest term. A swanky new expressway, that has put us in so much debt, only benefits a small section of Kenyans, even of the total population of Nairobi. At the same time, just getting a reliable supply of clean water to all the residents of the city continues to be a problem. The same thing with electricity. Even in Nairobi blackouts that last days at a time are very common. The swanky new high rise office and apartment buildings woo tenants by assuring them that they have a reliable water supply and on-site generators in case of blackouts! That should tell you all you need to know! Again I ask, "Where's the money going?"

Wow, as a Sierra Leonean in US; thumbs up for this. Now, many Africans can also delineate the issues as you did but no solutions. I purchased a few acres in a village with a beautiful beach. Unfortunately the beach front was sold out to Asians and Lebanese so I had to settle for the back of the beach. I will like to have partners or investors to work together to develop the village and not wait for the government to do so but trying to get black people from West African decent as our the US historically native blacks is next to impossible. I have thriving small businesses here in the US of which I owe some of the credit to my white and Asian staff mostly. Some of the Africans I have worked with over the years have I guess brotherly love but unfortunately very little to no sense of honor or cooperation. I have tried and still trying to find some fellow black people that will understand that everyone doesn’t have to be a CEO. We can all contribute in different areas as a team to build something bigger that us individually. If anybody is interested in working together and building up the village in question, DM me.

Thank you for being candid! I am a Sierra Leonean, Freetonian, Creole lady. Sadly, those who are destroying the country may not see your videos . Also, it may also be helpful to just say the name of the chicken company. Besides, many Sierra Leoneans used to run poultry farms but it looks like that's all changed. The hardworking honest 5% or so that are comfortable are not into publicity so viewers will only know what you've shown. Nonetheless, there are NGOs to help the poor people but we should know that many people over there may not have access to the same kind of resources that poor people in the West may have to pulll themselves up. Thank you again. You've given your opinion based on your experiences, you always do. 🙏🏽🙌🏽

Very good insight. The government came out of the people, the people are a reflection of the government. Governments don't come from the sky or beneath the sea, they are the same people getting into government to help themselves. African people in Africa, Caribbean and black America need to change their mind set unless they change their consciousness within, this episode will continue. Don't try to change Sierra Leone, let the people change their mentality after which their reality will change. Another good clip, try nigeria next maybe in the oil regions, nice one.

Man that was real, appreciate you making this video. I am from the east, Eritrea to be exact. Only natives of Sierra Leone can fix this. For a long lasting result, it has to come from within. There is a lot that can be done by the people in the Diaspora specially those that came from there. There are corrupt politicians that only care to line up their pockets but that doesn’t mean people cant still change their living conditions to a certain extent if everyone works together. Aid is not a solution, it has never worked in Africa, but we can inspire, point out and offer ideas like you are doing here to arrive at a workable solution. Hope a few years from now things will change for the better, the people deserve a better life. This too is a human rights issue.

Although, I found that you could be charge comparable prices/cost like in the USA, the product or service Quality doesn't always match especially when it comes to Hotels, AB&Bs, and Clothing. I've seen where a Clothing designer in Ghana was charging prices for an African's matching shirt and pants outfit, for what I would call close to American Top-Quality Level cost of 2-piece suites around $400-$600 dollars, Insane!

The ones running things in Sierra Leone are lacking in pride, and are extremely selfish and self-centred. They spend most of their tine full of self-importance and posturing instead of working. No wonder the country is in a mess.

@@jm6566 that's socialist propaganda of always blaming the west for their failures despite the evidence, for example Tanzania was a peaceful socialist country with no interference from the west back in the 70s, with a spectacular failure, in fact Julius Nyerere who was the pioneer of socialism in Tanzania eventually admitted that his socialst experiment was a failure and switched Tanzania to capitalism, fast forward to today, Tanzania is one of the fast growing countries in Africa, other countries that never experimented with socialism include Kenya, Rwanda and ivory coast, typically the countries that are doing well in the continent and have a bright future. So no, socialism wont work for Africa. Also Scandinavian countries and Germany are not socialist countries, they are welfare states with huge social benefits, socialism means state ownership of the means of production, Scandinavia and Germany are the complete opposite of that.
